Bill Ralston: No rest for Nats over summer

Bill Ralston: No rest for Nats over summerJohn Key will be smiling quietly to himself over the BBQ at his beach house in Omaha this summer. As he turns the chops, he can be content that, while 2007 had a few hiccups, 2008 promises to be an even better year for National …… [NZ Politics]

So Labour has a neutron bomb huh? Dickheads, they should've worked out by now that that won't help them and the public don't like mudslinging.

John Key is right, heads down bums up working hard at being the government in waiting and continually using the mantra "It's Time for a change"

Oh and for the Labour gits who think they can get away with a neutron bomb, watch out for those of us in the blogosphere who do not have to show electoral restraint. A guerilla viral war is something YOU can't win.

Matt McCarten: Votes matter, but it's coalition partners who will count in 2008

Matt McCarten: Votes matter, but it's coalition partners who will count in 2008Despite the spin from party spokespersons, it is a great truism that you can normally predict an election a year out. Consistent polls over the past year have shown that National holds a healthy lead over Labour. You can be pretty… [NZ Politics]

Matt McCarten reckons that National can't govern because they won't have a coalition partner. he is right and wrong at the same time.

The next election will show Labour especially, and National generally that Kiwi's are fed up with the foibles of MMP, they are sick to the back teeth of tails wagging dogs and they will show it in catastrophic fashion. Catastrophic for the minor parties with the exception of the Maori Party and perhaps ACT if Rodney can pull through.

Winston First is particularly exposed after Winston lost Tauranga and with no prospect of ever winning it back and the likely-hood that his sorry assed excuse of a party will fail to reach 5%. Not only that but Winston First is the only party that daily records its demise in the Death notices as their members pop their clogs. To make matters worse, Winston has alienated a large segment of his core constituency by supporting the Electoral Finance Bill.

The Greens have never had the legitimacy of ever winning an electorate seat and thus will be consigned to the dustbin.

We live in interesting times, John Key could make it more interesting by promising a binding referendum on the future of MMP. The people mistakenly believe that they were promised such a thing, and also mistakenly believe that successive governmens have not pursued such a path because they just aren't interested i, like the proverbial turkey, in voting for an early Christmas. John Key should play to that mistaken belief and deliver to desperate Kiwi's captured by single issue parties and single issue MP's.

Eh What?

Dead man crushed by elephant in NSW – New Zealand’s source for World News on Stuff.co.nz

Stupid headline…..either he was dead before he was crushed, in which case who gives a shit or he was dead as a result of being in the wrong place in an elephant cage.

What is it about leftists that they always have to lie

Christmas wishes at thestandard.org.nz

When The Sub-Standard isn’t fixated on John Key they are fixated on themselves.

They have a post where they claim to have not tens, not even hundreds but “thousands” of daily visitors.

To quote Darryl Kerrigan, “they’re dreamin’ ”

Not even two weeks ago Tane was trolling and spamming up DPF’s comments claiming that they were right up there in the top blogs of the country. That was until David poured Tane back into his bottle with some cold hard truth.

So, back to the present where we have “all_your_base” claiming “thousands” of daily visitors.

Time for a reality check. These are stats from Alexa, not perfect but the only reliable stats with which to gauge rankings;

The sub-Standard has Alexa rankings as follows;
Worldwide ranking – 533,395, not a bad ranking but still not in the top half a million blogs in the world.
NZ ranking – 1,171, again not bad but still quite a way of the play.

So let’s look at some other popular blogs shall we? Left and right so we can see if the claims of Tane and all_your_base stack up.

Kiwiblog, acknowledged by everyone except the people who hand out awards as the number one blog in New Zealand.
Worldwide ranking – 73,703, massive sta here, in the world David ranks under 100,000.
NZ ranking – 128, some 1,053 ahead of the so-called number two or three blog, The Sub-Standard.

Public Address – the darling of the left and the media. Russell’s bastard child, the leftists like to think that they have a better standard of discourse over at Public Address. They may have a better discourse but do they have the traffic?
Worldwide ranking – 184,037, wow, that’s a bit of a shock, quite a ways off the pace set by DPF but still way ahead of the self proclaimed number two or three blog The Sub-Standard.
NZ Ranking – 675, David flogs them here as well, and again the lies of tane and all_your_base are exposed. They are fast slipping down the rankings and I have only compared two blogs.

What about Not PC? Peter is the editor of Free Radical and a Libertarian activist, he should have way less rankings that the mouth-piece of the government, surely, shouldn’t he? Peter has also noticed this little phenomenon as well and has posted on it before when Phil U similarly made ridiculous claims about the popularity of his blog. [snigger]
Worldwide ranking – 345,207, whoopsy looks like the Lib has more of a following than the drivel mongers at the sub-Standard.
NZ Ranking – 802, yep PC beats them here too, oh dear they are down to 4th place now and quite some ways of the pace set by other blogs.

Ok what about me, Surely the “sewer” as the left are so fond of calling my blog will not rate as highly as honorable bloggers of the sub-Standard where they regularly have “hundreds of comments” on posts. Surely?, but wait!!!
Worldwide ranking – 184,185, well knock me down with a feather, that is better than even Public Address, eat that Russell.
NZ ranking – 304, again I beat out Public Address and of course the sub-Standard which increasingly, based on pure, cold, hard facts are lloking like self-promoting blowhards.

So, The sub-Standard is a long, long way from being the second or third most popular blog in New Zealand, a long, long, long way off. In fact it is almost embarrassing that they had a post about it and also went having a skite by spamming DPF’s comments with how cool they were.

It’s pathetic really. Next time fellas, when you have a rush of shit to the brains and feel like a bit of a skite, check the facts. On the other hand just play the stats the same way your preferred party does, just make shit up.

Rodney Hid(e)ing in Rotovegas

I went shopping today in Rotovegas to get some essential supplies.

While waiting in line at the checkout a skinny guy with a blonde chick following him arounds calls out, "I like your shirt". I was wearing my Kill the Bill shirt and so I looked up and see that it was the MP for Epsom.

Rodney had been down here for a parachute jump and was grabbing some quick supplies before heading over to Matamata to catch up with Cactus Kate.

We had a brief chat. Rodney is very, very happy that National have selected Richard Worth(less) to stand against him. I must say that Rodney is looking very trim and taut and it is no wonder that he looked like he has scored a new blonde girlfriend.

See, it is a veritable who's who in Rotovegas this year.

Scouts banned but Military leader let in

Fiji military leader allowed into NZ to see sick wife – 28 Dec 2007 – NZ Herald: World / International News

The Government’s stupid hypocritic policy over Fiji was exposed again today when one of Fiji’ military leaders was allowed in to visit his sick wife, meanwhile 10 kids are still not attending the Scout Jamboree.

Hypocrites.

Bhutto killed and still no sanctions

Assassination of Bhutto sparks violence across Pakistan – 28 Dec 2007 – NZ Herald: World / International News

Benazir Bhutto has been assassinated and Pakistan descends into chaos and still our Government continues to get upset over Fiji.

Remember it is just over two years since Clark feted Musharraf in Wellington at a State dinner whilst at the same time decrying the “dicgtator” in Fiji.

Rank hypocrisy.

Interesting use of technology

Cocktail maker tries Bluetooth ad – New Zealand’s source for business, stock market & currency news on Stuff.co.nz

I don’t have Bluetooth on all the time and here is just one reason why.

I don’t think this will be that successful because of that exact reason, plus many punters just don’t know what bluetooth is or even how to enable it. Except of course for the plonkers that walk around with those stupid ear-pieces on.
