I’ve been asked to assist to help identify this man.
A photograph of an unknown man suspiciously measuring up a shop door in Newmarket has been released to the media with the local business community keen for him to be identified.
The man, possibly pushing 40, was pictured in broad daylight today outside Newmarket menswear store Menon, 200 Broadway.
Owner of Menon, Praveen Menon, claims not to know the unknown man and certainly did not ask the man to do any repairs or maintenance on his shop door.
“I did not see this man measuring up my door. He probably did his business quickly while I was serving a customer. One thing’s for sure, he’s not wearing a Menon jacket, looks more like something from Saks. We just hope he doesn’t come back and attempt a ram raid,” says Mr Menon.
The head of the Newmarket Business Association Cameron Brewer is also concerned.
“Its sale time in Newmarket and there are a lot of goodies up for grabs. This is the last thing we need. The image is clearly very disturbing. Law enforcement is right to suspect him. To me he looks like a real thug. Luckily we have our CCTV cameras in Newmarket to catch these mongrels before they strike,” says Mr Brewer.
The Newmarket Business Association is now appealing to members of the public to help identify this man.
Just a short while ago on the tipline I was informed of a very interesting set of circumstances that need explaining.
On Thursday last week, which was the 23 July, a little orange twat was picked up at Auckland Airport by a Ministerial Limousine.
That’s right Darren Hughes, a Labour MP, was being ferried about in a ministerial limousine.
Now this is an interesting set of circumstances. Firstly Darren Hughes is a Labour MP. Labour are in opposition and not entitled to ministerial limousines except for Phil Goff.
So this then raises some interesting questions.
Did Phil Goff book the ministerial limousine so that Darren Hughes wouldn’t have to catch a cab or bus with the rest of the plebs?
Did Darren Hughes also use a ministerial limousine in Wellington to get him to the airport there?
Now the date is interesting. That is just before little Dazza appeared on TVNZ with Paul Henry and Helen Clark in New York. So presumably little Dazza was flying up to Auckland to then fly onto New York. The question still remains though as to why he was using a ministerial limousine at taxpayers expense when he isn’t entitled to?
Now I’d be interested to know when his flight to New York was because then we could assess whether little Dazza was taking further liberties with the taxpayer dollars. If the ministerial limousine was used to pick him up from Domestic and ferry him to a hotel for the night then presumably it was also used to fery him to Auckland International the next day as well.
Just who is authorising these little junkets in the back of a BMW for little Dazza? Is it Phil Goff or is there something even more interesting afoot? You see there is no valid or justified reason for Darren Hughes to be riding in a minsiterial limousine by himself at all. None. That means someone had to book it for him and that someone has breached the rules.
Let’s take stock shall we? Ever since the Clown of Campbells Bay, Andrew Williams, was elected he has divided the council; abused staff; abused and threatened trustees of a trust; sent late night abusive texts and emails to other mayors, bloggers and members of parliament; called ministers of the government liars; issued embarrassing press releases thanking the rest of the country paying for Auckland’s traffic; and he has punched an ambulance officer. He was also elected strongly opposing something that he strongly supported (the Whenuapai Airport) a few years ago.
Williams is an embarrassment, a thug, a narcissistic populist and a hypocrite. He has no place as a Mayor of New Zealand’s fourth largest city and thanks to Rodney he soon won’t be.
Oh and Andy mate, going whinging to the cops about me isn’t going to get you anywhere. Yes I have snitches everywhere and I know your every move. You are being held accountable and will be accounted for come election time.
Despite the fact that there appears to be an overwhelming abundance of out of work journalists in the market at the moment, the ones who are managing to stay employed have taken to doing hachet jobs.
Take TVNZ’s Close-Up.
On Monday they decided to repeat on a story that they had obviously been fed by Epilepsy New Zealand, and had failed to do the rudimentary research that would have enabled them to tell the truth, rather that falling hook line and sinker for some PR rubbish they had been fed to satisfy someone in Epilepsy New Zealand’s agenda.
The story goes that the Epilepsy Foundation was set up as a fundraiser for Epilepsy New Zealand (two separate bodies)..well…almost right – The Epilepsy Foundation was certainly set up to donate money to organisations that help with Epilepsy, but it has certainly never been tied to Epilepsy New Zealand. And then the Foundation went and did some fundraising, in fact they employed a marketing company to do it all for them, and then they ran some events – so far so good right? EXCEPT, now Epilepsy New Zealand is bitching and whinging because they reckon they have been ripped off by Epilepsy Foundation and should have gotten more of the money.
It went something along the lines of “Epilepsy New Zealand only got 2% of what was raised” The repeater Robyn Janes blamed the telemarketer – but it was all they were ever going to get, and they knew this. Turns out it is in the constitution of the Foundation that all donations they receive go to their capital fund, which they then invest – and donate the interest only. Yes DONATE the interest to the Epilepsy organisations (which for the last three years has been Epilepsy New Zealand.)
Looks like someone at Epilepsy New Zealand has gotten greedy and is using the media to try and get the money now. Swallowed hook, line and sinker by Robyn Janes at Close-Up.
I have been informed today that previously mentioned vile repeater, has been travelling the countryside, turning up unexpectedly at charities doorsteps berating them and badgering them to get her pre-determined story – that not the whole dollar you give to charity gets there. No shit! It goes to helping with business expenses too. When I buy a sausage for charity I know that some of my money goes to paying for the sausage, bread, tomato sauce and onion. Doesn’t everybody? Surely this is just a totally nothing story trying to make people who do good things feel bad.
Isn’t this how we actually want not-for-profits to run, to actually have some financial responsibility and create investments so that they can become self sufficient to some degree. Surely this is better than constantly putting your hand out because you spend everything you get today rather than thinking about tomorrow as well.
Sort it out Close-Up, get some real stories that actually mean something, and stop being someone’s PR bitch. Mark Sainsbury and the Producer should make sure his repeaters are telling the whole truth not some spin before he fronts the story.
With all the faux outrage spewing forth from the Labour/EPMU funded lap-blogs and Labour’s own MPs jumping in to the fray over the pros and cons of Paula Bennett putting information in the public domain we need to recall another case in order to hightlight the extreme hypociry of the left.
Does anyone remember the name Erin Leigh. Trevor Mallard will because he outrageously assaulted her professional reputation and he did it under Parliamentary Privilege as well. That is probably why Trevor Mallard isn’t saying anything over Labour’s own goal with the beneficiaries furore.
Yes, that’s right. Labour attacked a woman because it suited their political agenda at the time a Minister was under intense scrutiny for meddling in the hiring process. They attacked and smeared without a shred of evidence.
Contrast that with Paula Bennett, where she actually delivered facts, not under parliamentary privilege and revealed details that the detractors had failed to reveal themselves. Facts that were pertinent to the case at hand raather than just dirty smearing.
Labour’s shrill wailing should be met with steely stares and ignored for the hypocrisy it is. To my knowledge neither nor Labour has apologised to Erin Leigh for their disgusting attack on her professional integrity.
My tipline just received a fax from what appears to have been a National backbencher. It is a copy of a letter that was sent to National MPs recently that described David Farrar as a “well known Labour party supporter”
I bet trevor Mallard et al are just pleased as hell that DPF is on their side now.
No not me. Everyone knows there is no money in blogging but here is a prime chance to help out a poor blogger and send the bill to the Labour Party.
On Farrar’s troll farm he is carrying some Google ads down the righthand side and one of them just happens to be for Phil Twyford’s silly little website notyourstosell.co.nz (see left) which I tore apart just the other day.
Be good little blogosphere citizens and click merrily away on the ad knowing that Labour’s money will be going into Farrar’s pocket.
Labour reckons they are going to complain to the Privacy Commissioner. Good luck with that considering it has now been revealed that one of the silly bints has been blabbing about her own situation all over the Trade Me Forums. She said:
no o stirer, im a fellow dpb mum, if u read the link its me they are talking about, I was shocked when this came up today as i get disabilty allowance and max in our area of $110 accom supplement and a very very long wayyyyy off $1000, wanted to send this thread to bennat as proof, and a few other mps that are very supportive
Oh dear, own goal. But she also goes on and says:
i bet thats because they pay high rents, mine is $110 and i pay $280 rent but in cambridge, so its really not like its free cash its eatine up, considering my standard benifit with 3 kids is $260 then i get wff and $30 disability which would barly cover the costs of my meds, hospital trips etc
Bit hard to win a privacy complaint when your own tame benny blabs about her situation all over the Trade Me forums, incidentally Trade Me is New Zealand’s most popular website.
Incidentally, anybody know if the Natasha Fuller featured in the article is the same one who bought $400 hair extensions on Chapter 2 of this episode of Fair Go ( http://tvnz.co.nz/fair-go/2008-episode-15-video-1792010 ), they sort of look similar (except for the dyed hair) and the kids look almost identical….if so the inside of the house, general attire, etc.. would seem to support Paula Bennett’s claim that there’s more to the story than meets the eye..
Oh dear, another Labour sting goes down in flames like the Hindenburg.
Comment of the Day comes from No Minister and a comment by Lindsay Mitchell.
This is crux of the whole matter that many, especially those from the left, are missing.
The problem with New Zealand is clear. Our Welfare System has come by almost all parties to be seen as an “entitlement”. This is a false premise and one which may take decaeds to erase if at all so ingrained into the thinking of the vast majority.
Our welfare system that was once a safety net, became a hammock for for some and now for other has become a trampoline.
The sad thing is that this government and I expect others may well start adding a trapeze and additional safety nets as well as cushioned side mats to the system.
Instead we should be removing all that crap and having hard solid concrete around the safety net.
Editorial: Minister right to give public all the facts – Paula Bennett has been accused of serious wrongdoing after releasing details of the benefits received by two solo mothers who had criticised cuts to a training allowance. According to the Green Party, the Social Development Minister… [NZ Herald Politics]
The NZ Herald Editorial is right on the money.
In this era of blogs, the internet and modern news gathering it is incumbent on politicians to get all the facts on the table, they’ll end up there anyway in a very short space of time.
Once all the facts are known then people can make an informed choice about the situation without the taudry spin that politicians are prone to put on the story.
People can make a reasonable assessment of the women’s position only if such information is in the public domain. They now know enough of their circumstances to draw a conclusion on whether they have, as Ms Bennett suggests, been given a “fair go”. And whether, as the minister proposes, they have the sort of financial foundation that makes it possible to invest in their own future. The introduction of interest-free student loans is certainly a major plus for women in their position wishing to undertake tertiary study.
Ms Fuller suggests that she did not believe she had omitted any relevant information when making her criticism. That is disingenuous. Once in the public arena, her complaint was bound to be fully scrutinised. The degree of that examination was ramped up when the Labour Party used the two women’s stories in Parliament last week.
Yes, so if anyone is guilty of bringing these women to prominence it is Labour, echoing once again my position that if you need assistance don’t go to a Labour MP they will just hide som pertinent facts and use your case for political gain. Then they will leave you swinging in the wind when it all blows up in their face.
There are obvious parallels between this case and an earlier one involving Bruce Burgess, a redundant worker. Labour helped him to go public with concerns about losing his lifestyle block because his wife’s $21,000 income meant he could not claim an unemployment benefit. No mention was made of him also owning two rental houses. The Labour leader, Phil Goff, said these were not relevant because they were not returning a profit and asset wealth was not part of the means test for the dole. That may have been arguable in theory, but Mr Goff must also have known the additional information would have a major bearing on the popular response.
The Government was clearly encouraged by the defusing of that issue and the embarrassment to Labour. Upbraided by two solo mothers, Ms Bennett has taken it upon herself to unveil “the full story”. The upshot will not be that people stop speaking out or that the Government escapes criticism. It will be that all information relevant to an issue is more likely to be put before the public at the outset.
Exactly. Let’s see if Labour will learn. I doubt it because what is apparent is that Labour are rudderless.
