Flea Lawyers after The Whale again

The flea lawyers have rung demanding all sorts of things. Here is my press release.

BLOGGER VOWS FIGHT OVER SUPPRESSION ORDER BREACH CLAIMS

Centre-right blogger Cameron Slater – who blogs under the name Whaleoil at gotcha.co.nz – has vowed to fight any charges over allegations that he breached a suppression order protecting an Olympian accused of raping his wife, unlawful sexual connection with his wife and abduction for sex,  five charges of assault, assault with intent to injure and threatening to kill.

AAP and Radio New Zealand have reported that “an audacious internet blogger is in hot water” over posting a “series of images” that could be interpreted as revealing the identity of the Olympian. These reports indicated the blogger is “facing charges for breaching the order, with the sportsman’s lawyer saying he was seeking legal advice”.

Mr Slater, who posted the series of images, said “These claims are nothing but a beat up and a distraction from the reality that a high profile New Zealander facing serious charges is being protected by a flawed legal process.

“Philip Morgan QC has described what I did as “disgraceful“.

“The real disgrace here is that a man accused of rape, abduction and unlawful sexual connection, with a history of extreme violence, has had his named concealed in a legal stitch-up.

“That said, Mr Morgan has form in barracking for lowlifes. He previously attacked critics of a decision to grant permanent name suppression to an All Black who beat a pregnant woman.

“I will not remove the series of images in question. The way I have acted has been entirely consistent with the public interest.

“I intend to vigorously fight any charges or allegations to the contrary,” Mr Slater concluded.

    Well done, and good luck.

Onya Cam – stick to your guns. You know in your SOUL that you are right here!

  • crabby

Good shit Cam! This name suppression shit needs changing and your just the fellow to start the wheels in motion.

  • Cactus Kate

QC? I sniff the accused is bludging off legal aid as well.

  • Guest

Yep – SOUL – Suppression Order Undeniably Lame…

So just why was his name suppressed???

  • Scanner

Why does this sort thing bring the pond scum up so quickly, first we have a scumbag athlete, with a history, throwing suspicion over all male Olympians, then some felcher of a lawyer now wants to make a social statement and stick up for the rights above mentioned turd.
Go Cam, too many people in this country are given name suppression for little or no reason.

  • Jason

I heard the news this morning on National Radio and guessed correctly that it was you.

    Good. On. You.

  • mediatart

Early Xmas presents Whale? CDs of a “boy named SUE’

  • Cadwallader

I’m still trying to figure out who it is. Your clues are too cryptic for me by any measure. If there’s been a willful breach by you it is an obtuse and beguiling one!

  • Bok

Geez you are full of it Cam. I have searched every last Olympic athlete NZ ever had and there is no-one with the name Umbrellasquiggle Buzzybag.

  • hannibal lecter

Holy crap mate – I hope it wasn’t me that dropped you in the shit yesterday, when I worked out it was Kermadec Crunchywasp.

  • Mediatruth

    Euro Hubbard-McFly?

    Mecca Muesli-Seinfeld?

  • Marybelle

Well I can’t work it out, (I don’t know Chinese), and I haven’t a clue who it is meant to be, but the supression order sure puts suspicion on every male Olympic athlete from that time. What it does show is that there is one law for “celebrities” and another law for us and if you happen to be a police officer you get no chance, ever, of name supression.

  • Inventory2

Marybelle – the bar, apparently is SOUL, AN’ you can go from there …

  • petal

Just leave Britney ALONE. Leave BRITNEY ALONE!!!!

    Oh

    Wrong thread.

  • Inventory2

On reflection Cam, d’ya think he’s a victim? It could be that he suffers from Silly First Name Syndrome, and his third first name is a bit of a strange one as well. Perhaps he was doomed from birth!

  • DONKEY

he does not suffer from silly first name syndrome – he is just another fucking c**t that needs to be killed as is where is – fingers crossed when he hits the cells again he will get his own version of rape – called f**ked in the backside hard

  • jabba

when i 1st heard on the radio news I thought “he has fucked up this time BUT, there is alway a but, I agree that according to the suppression notes .. you did nothing wrong. I hope the bstds try and take you to court .. I can’t see how you can lose apart from the pricks ganging up on you. good luck.
The bloke in question was a ponce any way.

  • kev

i think hes an idiot, why cast doubt on all innocent athletes. shame and name him. stupid mother f##ker. someone needs to box his brains out. call the tuaman to deal the deadly blows

  • kev

feel sorry for the lil girl he killed. i remember he was going to barred fromgoing to the games because of his record and he got beaten anyway. loser. anyone that dont know his name, very easy to guess. ive been to soul bar. very nice place indeed

  • Cactus Kate

But Kev it was an “accident”.

  • jabba

shit kev .. I had 4gotn that .. how on earth can a ponce be so violent

  • snapperking

Bugger…. the story is making airwaves here but no one in Aussie can work out who the bastard is.

  • Ozanima

Goodonya – no matter who/what he is, he should be outed. I hope she divorces him and takes him for all he’s got. What is it about being a ‘celebrity’ that makes a lot of them think they are above the law and the moral and ethical standards that most of us live up to ?

  • Wally Anchor

Are any of the interviews online?

  • adam2314

Honestly !!.. I do not have a clue to whom you refered.

    You broke no rules!!..

Can use me at you defence :-) )

  • jabba

well, the gloves are off now eh boys?

  • adam2314

    your.

  • Inventory2

    Anyone for Turkish Delight?

  • Soul An

He changed his name from ***** Rikihana after he was convicted for killing his baby in 1995.

  • Jesse

Awesome mate!!! NZ police did a similar thing to look after the F$%^ that raped my girl too.

i couldn’t be prouder they arrested me.

  • Tim

Normally I would not agree but your right.

Its really like a boxing match this case.

A “smart alec” lawyer trying to make a name for themselves puts in a powerful punch and the court suppresses the guys name.

I think its disgusting I mean this guy has already has killed someone.

  • crabby

off with the mofos head, what more is there to say..

  • Flashman

Keep up the good work Cameron.

If he’s not troughing the legal aid system, you just cost defendant-client Latteyingtong Crispycritter a good few 6-minutes of billable QC quality time.

  • anon

Inventory2 is right CAM. You have soul. And whilst your computer is connected to a LAN you don’t have to worry when the lawyers POUNCE or what ever may BE.

  • Rick

Did you not think that the suppression order in this case might exist to protect the victim? Or do you not think?

  • enzer

‘Did you not think that the suppression order in this case might exist to protect the victim? Or do you not think?’

Hardly likely Rick.Or for any children that may be about. Nor did it have anything to do with the possible corruption of the impending trial.

So let’s hope that Slater’s arrogance hasn’t jeopardised the outcome of a trial for a person on some very serious chrages.

  • Jman

Good onya Cam. Keep doing what you do. Thats all I got to say

LOL, whaleoil, grow a backbone and live up to you words or just prove you are a brainless blogger that spouts nonsensical shit. you have already started taking steps backwards when you changed the name of the image from the olympians name to his initials or have you just realised your actions are as illegal as the alledged actions of the accused

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Whaleoil Whaleoil

Oh yes, equating breaching name supression with rape of a wife, abduction for the purposes of sex, five assault charges, and threatening to kill, I can see the similarities.

You are one sick mofo sticking up for this cowardly kid killer.

  • crabby

Stoney, I have nothing against stoners, but fuck man, that last line “have you just realised your actions are as illegal as the alledged actions of the accused” is way over the top..

  • stoney

one – i am not standing up for numb nuts twat who alledgedly beat and raped his wife (way to hold up the sanctity of marriage)

two – my comment wasn’t clear, not meant to equate the actual illegal actions but the essence under law that both actions breach it and therefore are illegal

i would happily piano wire and two car castrate rapists but it’s illegal, just like breaching name suppression orders which could be there for more than protecting the accused

  • http://www.mayormichael.co.nz Michael Laws

Just want to pass on my congratulations, support and fund-raising capacity (if it comes to that) in your bid to ensure that the justice system is both transparent & accountable. We all know who this bastard Olympian is and it was always a travesty that he represented our country. And as someone prosecuted by an over zealous officer for contempt of court … all power to you.
    Kind regards

I wonder who the comedian with name suppression is?

  • Jessica

Whaleoil, I understand you are trying to make a difference, and in this case I can’t understand why they’ve given this person name suppression. But to assume it is for the sole purpose of protecting the accused is naive. You seem to be smart. I imagine you understand that often these orders are in place for multiple reasons…

PS: I’m willing to put any money on Michael Laws a) Being charged for a sex crime one day soon, b) wanting name suppression. :) him adding his weight to your fight is great, who’s next Clint Rickards?

  • Bob

It's funny how some people will just pounce on any story that comes to light.

  • steve

This blog must be full of informed and learned info. Just cant find it anywhere..

  • Guest

Is it Paul Ego who has his name suppressed?

  • Guest

Saw the guy on TV3… he looks like Brendhan Lovegrove

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Whaleoil Whaleoil

      None of those guys

      • guest

        how about a clue mate?

  • euro10

Are the images still on your site? Where can I find them? I don't know a great deal about the law, but can't your interference jeopardise affect the outcome in the courts. If he is truly guilty, I would hate to see him get a reduced sentence or worse be acquitted! I hate him. He's gotten away with enough. Disgraceful.
