More Textual Harrassment from the Mad Mayor

Andrew Williams is a man not in control of his emotions. This time the news is the Mad Mayor on his trip to Christchurch sent text messages to Bob Parker about how the Clown from Campbells Bay disliked his city.

On July 27, Williams sent a cellphone email to Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker just after midnight after dining with friends in the city. In the email, Williams said he and his party were “most disappointed with Christchurch tonight”.

After attending a function in the city, his group went looking for a restaurant, but Williams told Parker “your city was dead as a duck”.

Asked to comment on the email yesterday, Parker said it showed “a rather eccentric attitude” when councils around the country were looking to build solid relationships.

“Mayors usually refrain from criticising other mayors and their cities,” he said.

I wouldn’t call it “rather eccentric attitude” I’d call it pissed as a newt. Andrew Williams, the Clown of Campbells Bay and the mad Mayor of the North Shore is drunk in charge to a city.

As is usual with the Mad Mayor’s textual harrassment it involved a threat.

“What we did get offered finally arrived at 10pm, a whole hour’s wait for food, so the service was 3rd world by anyone’s standards. I hope this not normal for Chch because we were all less than impressed.

“… The media, I understand, are also interested in what we think of our visit to Christchurch so that will make an interesting story, don’t you think, as a former media man?”

The man must be sacked, recalled, or made to resign. Where are the “A team” in all of this? Probably pouring Stop Banks wine down the Mad Mayor’s throat.

    Credit where credit is due.
Whaleoil stole the line ‘Textual harassment’ from Miss Whaloil who used it last night after watching Close Up ( much to our amusement)

Rumor has it that the Mad Mayor is lining up his next job, TXT Evangelist for Telecom XT Network.

Whale, decorum dictates that you attribute where using someone else’s material (except, of course, if you’re a certain university faculty member). A hat-tip to Miss Whale would have been appropriate.

I have found someone who admits to having voted for Andrew Williams. It seems (at least in this voter’s eyes) that it was not the Whenuapai Airport issue that won him the election (even though that was the only issue on which he campaigned). It appears Mayor Wood lost the election with his proposal to increase rates at (something like) 200 time the rate of inflation. That said, this rate-payer then had one or two nice things to say about Len Brown!! Until I told the rate-payer that a Len Brown mayoralty will mean a Sue Bradford deputy. That changed the vote pretty quickly, although I’m not entirely sure I brought the rate-payer around to voting Banks. Perhaps they will vote for Mike Lee. Whatever, splitting the left is almost as good as voting the right, eh?

The Bob Parker email story prompted me to check my diary – and sure enough it confirmed my recollection that I was attending the Local Government Conference and on the evening of July 27th I was drinking with Mayor Williams, and other North Shore Councillors, about midnight in the hotel lounge. Around or after midnight the others left and I took the opportunity to advise the mayor that he should ‘pull his head in’ and act in a more Mayoral fashion.
I obviously wasted my breathe for it seems after we finished our drinks he sent a text to Bob Parker. I have suggested his fellow councillors should move a censure motion against him – but do not have high hopes they will take up this suggestion.

Someone please tell this suffering North Shore Ratepayer that there is an election next year. This Williams just goes from badder to worser.
