Pah! Repeaters

Just had a call from a  repeater at a reputable news organisation that makes me want to go postal on the useless twats.

They ring me up about a post from another blogger at Gotcha! and start telling me outright lies that I prove are outright lies while I’m on the phone with the repeater. The repeater then accuses me of being pedantic. Yes, well that is true, but shouldn’t a media commentator be pedantic, indeed shouldn’t they be accurate rather than simple repeat rubbish and tell out right lies.

Lie number 1: You are the owner of the gotcha.co.nz domain name. No, I am the registrant, the lessee if you like, ICANN is the owner.

Lie Number 2: You will be prosecuted for breaching the embargo. Really! Under what law would that be? Why would I be prosecuted when it wasn’t me that posted it.

Lie Number 3: Well it was embargoed. Actually it as embargoed for the media. The media goes to great pains to not include bloggers or online only media under the banner of media. We don’t play by the rules because the rules don’t apply to us because you won’t let us play by the rules. That’s a nice circular chicken and egg debate that would be beyond most repeaters. You think you are special you aren’t, mostly you are leeches sucking off of the blogs for stories exactly like this case.

Lie Number 4: You are ultimately responsible for gotcha.co.nz because you are the registrant. Well no, I’m not, I pointed out the registrant for her organisation and it turns out he is some tech dweeb, so I doubt he is ultimately responsible and therefore likely to be prosecuted. More likely it would be the Company that owned the site and the Chief Executive and possible the repeater that would be prosecuted.

Lie Number 5: If you do a Google search for Helen Clark and honours it comes up on the first page. Utter bullshit. Not even close, I couldn’t even find that damn article and I went to page 6 on both a New Zealand sites only search and Global search.

Lie Number 6: I (the repeater) can’t remember the exact search term because I’m not at my desk. Reeeeeally, then how come the number showing on my phone is a landline number from your office, in fact it is your direct dial you stupid cow.

Six lies was really quite enough. Not to other repeaters and the very few journalists that are out there, DO YOUR FUCKING HOMEWORK, before ringing me.

Oh and attribution of where you get your stories from would be appreciated, you do it for other media networks but you insult us by not attributing.

Therein we have the major problem with NZ journalism. They sit at their desks and wait for press releases. No contacts ,no informants, no courage, regurgitating dross from fax machines . Journalists used to be seen in pubs, police stations, hospitals , even buying the odd beer for information, you could even trust some. The availability of free information has never been easier and the average hack for a daily is too lazy to source original material. Rock on

The real scandal, is that Clark is getting an ONZ, so soon after suffering wholesale rejection by the NZ voting public. If she had any true principle, she should politely decline until a future date.

Any New Year's honour that lumps a person into the same group as Jonathan Hunt has to be a veiled insult.

Ever get the feeling that you are under surveillance Cam?

Come on Cam, time to name the repeater and the paper concerned, nothing helps the truth and sharpens the integrity like a bit of sunlight.
It may also help the repeaters to come down off their high and mighty perch and start doing their job properly, for too long the media have had the opinion they could publish whatever they like and then put it right with a small retraction on page 8, arseholes the lot of them.

I would say not even ICANN owns the domain names. In reality no one can own a domain name. All one can do is get a licence to have a domain name listed on name serves that most ISPs regard as authoritative. But people can and do set up names on non authoritative name servers.

You know whale……yes ago, I used to read the papers….as in paper papers. Then I used to gloss over the head lines on the interweb….

Now….not so much….. I can't seem to find much news in the paper anymore that I haven't already found in blogs, international news feeds etc. It's pretty easy to follow them up myself and get my facts straight from the sources.

It would appear that the poor old MSM is managing to slowly but surely push it's own collective head further and further up it's own arse as each day goes by. You are correct, they are repeaters. Not just stuff from blogs either. Almost exclusively, the rest of their content is lifted from another press source.

This formula leaves them largely redundant as an information source and I think they should pause for a little moment think about that…….

I like to point to record companies as a kind of case study……these guys are still trying to sell shiny silver disks 10 years after the 'real world' rode on past with the internet. They are still looking around wondering where everyone went….Apple knew the answer 10 years ago…..

To me though, the scary thing for these people should be that people gathering information themselves via alternative methods turns out to be a)more rewarding and b) more factual…..it's a bit like big government…..any group of people that morphs itself into something so large that it creates it's own version of reality is an eventual recipe for it's own downfall. I guess that's democracy in a nutshell then:)

    Happy New year

Ha Ha…..thinking about things a bit more, I guess the next 'bubble' will be the artificially inflated 'MSM advertising rate' bubble!

Ahh the 'embargo'. Where the MSM like the Pravda of old, get the news in advance but then sit on it , to suit the twats that provided it to them.
But to say you will be prosecuted for breaking a self imposed shut down really takes the cake. Thats beyond stupid. Then that would explain most of the rest of her garbage.
