A Judge who gets it

Unfortunately for us he sits on the SCOTUS. Still, perhaps “FIGJAM” Power read and understand. Here’s a thought, why don’t we adopt the US Constitution?

“Today, 30-second television ads may be the most effective way to convey a political message. Soon, however, it may be that Internet sources, such as blogs and social networking Web sites, will provide citizens with significant information about political candidates and issues. Yet, §441b would seem to ban a blog post expressly advocating the election or defeat of a candidate if that blog were created with corporate funds. The First Amendment does not permit Congress to make these categorical distinctions based on the corporate identity of the speaker and the content of the political speech,” – Justice Anthony Kennedy, marking the first time “blog” has been used in a Supreme Court opinion.

Justice Kennedy is a good man.

He is quite right that you cannot ban the content or intentions of things with which you disagree.

What I always find amusing is how no one seeks to ‘ban’ things which are supportive – it is always the opponents who should be banned.

We are one of only three countries with a unwritten constitution and it would be better to keep to this system and instead just to adopt some of the laws rather then the whole constitution. The constitution is aging and with technology developing faster then ever the constitution in America is being tested. Even now Obama will have look at further amendments to pass through some of his policies.

Anyway the last thing I want is to mimic the American system which is destroying itself infront of the entire world while we try to convince ourselves that they are the military and economic power of the world.

How come US companies dont have the right to vote ?
If they have the 1st amendment right to freedom of speech why dont they have the right to vote ? Especially if they are allowed to spend money during elections , the result of which is the votes are counted .

Or maybe companies arent persons and as such dont have the rights that persons do.
IN the 19th century the Supreme Court did the reverse when they said that slaves werent persons and couldnt vote or have other rights
