A Labour MP I could almost vote for

I’m going to nominate Clare “Slut-boy Slayer” Curran for MP of the Month this month. She politely puts the tomato throwers in their place including Trevor “Bluto” Mallard with a well reasoned comment on Tiger’s attack post. So far no National MPs save Simon Bridges have raised their heads from the sleepy slumber of their holidays, so looks like it is a race between Kelvin Davis and Clare Curran right now.

I could almost vote for her, perhaps she too is in the wrong party. She is dead right that I have to accept the consequences of my actions, just as Phil Goff did when he flew a NVA flag on the Auckland Cenotaph, just like Helen Clark did when she threw paint at soldiers from Vietnam, just like the countless people who marched against the Springbok tour. I will accept the consequences and I won’t be squealing about it.  If only the Labour and EPMU functionaries at the Standard would exhibit such a refreshing view about freedom of expression, but then again they wholeheartedly supported the Electoral Finance Act.

Clare Curran displays some sanity where Bluto Mallard shows pig ignorance

Sorry, I'm coming in to this a bit late and I haven't read all the comments and everything. I agree that sometimes the law is so silly it should just be disregarded and maybe this is such a situation.

But on the one hand, you seem to be suggesting you are acting on principle, challenging the law and are willing to accept the consequences while, on the other hand, you are maintaining you didn't breach the suppression order. I don't really understand why you say this because the code can be decrypted pretty easily to get the person's name.

It seems to me, if you are taking a stand on principle, then you would just post the name in plain text and a large font. But you can't claim credit for challenging the law and standing up for principles while at the same time saying you didn't do anything illegal.

Well said, This finally brings some logical clarity to the usual rants on either side of the debate.

The law is very specific as to what actually constitutes a breach of the law. We do not believe that the law has been breached. He is ACCUSED not convicted so of course he can defend his position while still disagreeing with the law.

Pity the original pictogram of the Olympian had his name as the .jpg file name in plain text. I would never have worked pot his name from the pictures.

re the kids from the subStandard picking up their game .. don't hold your breath. re Curran, I never really liked what i saw of her as she moved David Two fathers aside but she SEEMS to be getting to be a reasonable MP .. I wonder when the Mallards of the party shut her down and play the party line .. BANZAI, attack attack attack.

Mallard is nothing but a fool, a cock, an idiot, a bully, a fuckwit and yes, pig ignorant. I only hope the good folk of Wainu shut him out next time round. In saying that, with fuckwits like him staying on the gravy chain….. National's looking good for some time to come.

No-body, in their right mind, could ever vote for Labour…Surely? Not even the Maori's!

    • Jamastic

nobody in their "right" mind would ever vote for Labour :)

  • Michaels

One in their right mind would think that Gregg, however, come election time Labour pull out all sorts of promises without ACTUALLY caring what they may do to the country. In saying that, with Clark and Cullen gone they might not have the brains left to come up with such devious plans.

Lets hope that wart faced Goff stays in as leader then… I'm beginning to think "the wart(s) on the face thing" is a prerequisite to becoming the leader of the Labour party!

Just as well the voting is not just “LEFT” up to you “RIGHT” minded sheeple (sheep People).Interesting thought, why have we not tried public humiliation to deter our criminal fraternity. Rotten tomatoes, chain gangs, distinctive pink clothing or similar, village stocks etc etc etc. It would make the majority feel better. Privacy should be a right for the law abiding citizens. Criminals should not be allowed to simply crawl back into the sewer that they came from.

    • http://ltsa.co.nz Gregg Nelson

Ok, now I have an issue with the word "criminal" being misused and or applied to perverts..! I am a "criminal" and my definition of criminal is "not someone who offers violence towards vulnerable members of society, ie Children, Elderly or disabled" or " Is a sexual predator of any sort, Rapist, Kiddy Fiddler or Child Porn pervert"

When in jail, the latter "perverts" are ordinarily afforded protection from mainstream "criminals".

http://www.ltsa.co.nz to learn a bit about me. Now I hope you understand better my definition of a criminal..!

Furthermore, Society would come to a screaming halt if it weren't for "criminals". For example what would Insurance companies, judges, lawyers, policeman, probation officers, corrections staff, broken glass repairers or in fact reporters, to name a few, do all day…without "criminals"

The majority of society are "criminals" and some are "perverts" either by being branded as such by the courts and the system or yet to be, because they have so far eluded detection…!

      Is that you?

      • DTC 4life

A rapist or a child abuser is no less a criminal than the thief or the assailant. The majority are not, in fact, convicted or undetected criminals. Perhaps you should move in better circles.

    Here is another one :
Cop shooting accused keeps identity secret
    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_i

"The identity of the man accused of shooting a police officer in the Manukau suburb of Papatoetoe will remain a secret until at least tommorrow………………………………………………………………………………….."

Well it better be lifted tomorrow! Why should this attempted murderer (of a cop), mongrel and lowlife accused get continued name suppression just because his mother is out of the country and doesn't know yet? How much has this cost us taxpayers so far in legal aid? The attempted murder of cop Constable Jeremy Snow happened on December 22nd. Why couldn’t the mother be found in that time span? Does the lawyer of the accused attempted murderer think we are stupid or something? Constable Jeremy Snow has months of rehabilitation to go through. Thank goodness he didn't die. The lawyer of the accused attempted murderer should stop trying to delay the court case and spare some though for the victim.

    The law is an ass.

Rob, that's a damn fine idea.

    "distinctive pink clothing or similar,"

Then they could all go to working serving coffee for Air New Zealand.
