Dr Who anti-ginger?

The BBC has recieved  143 complaints that a Dr Who episode was insulting to gingas.

Matt Smith, the new Time Lord who “regenerated” from David Tennant in the New Year’s Day edition of the show, is seen looking at his new head of hair and saying: “Still not ginger”.

The corporation issued a statement denying that the popular series was pursuing an “anti-ginger agenda” after parents of red-headed children complained about his first words.

“I’ve still got legs. Arms, hands, lots of fingers, eyes, hair,” said Smith, 27, after completing his regeneration from Tennant. Checking his new face, the eleventh actor to play the Doctor continued: “I’m not a doll. I’m still not ginger.”

Parents said the episode, seen by 11 million viewers, would encourage bullying of their ginger haired children.

Oh come on, everyone knows that you don’t need encouragement to bully ginger kids, you don’t even need permission. We know that they are mutants without souls.

I reckon some people have too much time on their hands when they try to start a fuss over something as trivial as Dr Who not having red hair :O

These days it is equal oportunity bullying in schools. You have glasses, a silly name, too tall, too short, silly haircut, too many freckles, too fat, too thin, too clever, too friendly, too much of a swot……
Yes red hair gets teased but then my brown haired daughter begged me to get her a haircut because she was teased so badly about her bob haircut. She looked great but they called her mushroom head. Kids are just cruel full stop. They pick on anything that moves. As an ex teacher I speak from experience.

What a crock! The comment was a continuation from David Tennant's regeneration and indicates disappointment that he isn't ginger!!!

Exactly. When the Doctor regenerated from the 9th to 10th Doctor, he was disappointed at not being ginger. How stupid of these people to take that as discrimination! Since when is disappointment discrimination?

They've still got a Labour Government over there ,get Gordon to make it compulsory to have a ' ginga' quota and then all the little 'gingas' wont get upset.

I agree with Rustie. People should actualy check out the context of these things before they complain about them. Also the next doctors companion was announced before this episode aired and shes Ginger!

Well thats buggered Dr. Who then hasn't it ,Catherine Tate was bad enough but now a 'ginga' companion.
