F-f-f-f-reezing f-f-f-ricken Cold – The Northern Hemisphere shivers

So much for global warming. This winter, a winter the UK Metservice predicted would be mild and have predicted that Britons would soon no longer remember snow at Christmas, the UK has literally been blanketed with snow and recod freezing temperatures un-heard of for more than 40 years. However the UK has now had the 25th day in a row of sub-zero temperatures.

This is where I expect the Warm-mongers to holler, “it’s a weather event”, the answer to them is phooey. If you cherry pick hot days as evidence of global warming then I can pick freezing cold record months as evidence that global warming is complete bollocks.

It isn’t just UK suffering under this massive episode of human-induced global warming freezing period. My brother in Korea reported that Seoul had been blanketed with record snow over the new year period. In Florida mantees, turtles, pythons and iguana are dropping dead from the cold. In the US more than 1200 cold and snow records were set in the past week,

In other parts of the US, cities, led by the nose by the warm-mongers who insisted on power-saving technologies to save the planet are now experiencing roading chaos anywhere they installed LED traffic lights instead of the traditional incandescent bulbs. Quite literally peoples lives are in real danger for following green idealism. Being quite litigious it is only a matter of time before Albert Gore is sitting in the dock indicted for killing someone vicariously through his mad, false panic induced by his lies and mendacity.

In fact is is highly likely that more people will be killed by Global Cooling, a natural event, than Global Warming, another natural event. In the UK it is old people who are bearing the brunt of silly gree politics as Britain freezes in record freezing tempertures. They are resorting to buying books to burn at home in order to keep warm. It is pure madness to think we can affect the climate in any particular way against nature, even more-so if the UN is in charge of the plans to mitigate the so far un-seen Global Warming.

It is time for a revolt against our politicians. A revolt against carbon trading and a revolt against carbon taxes. In New Zealand we have long suffered under the Clark regime, toadying to every whim of the UN so Helen had a bolt-hole to go to after the inevitable. The problem is that Key and National have kept on keeping on. Enough of the toadying. Enough of the bollocks. The evidence is as plain as the nose on our face that the planet isn’t warming, that we have been lied to, that we keep on being lied to. If I was Rodney Hide I would insist on taking another portfolio after he finishes his job in Auckland this year. He should take Climate Change off Nick Smith and then gut NIWA like a trout.

It is also clear that our traditional media and traditional political parties are simply captured by the system. Time for something new. Enough of the bollocks, oh and send the bill for this nonsense to the Greens. Global Warming is dead, slain not by scientists or politicians, but by nature.

It has been since climate experts realized that warming would lead to desalination of the Atlantic and massive cooling in parts of the earth with warming in the others. The last ice ages have all been prefixed by periods of warming. You and Leighton Smith should start a club, lets call it the anti-climate change crew. May be look at the flat earth society for tips. BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW OBVIOUS IT IS THAT THE WEATHER SYSTEMS ARE CHANGING AND NO MATTER HOW MANY PHOTOS YOU SEE OF POLLUTION SPILLING INTO THE ATMOSPHERE YOU WILL NEVER ADMIT THAT WE'RE AFFECTING THE CLIMATE!

    Yes "Global Warming" is out and "Climate Change" is in, we know. It still does little to convince us doubters that there is need for worldwide panic as we're still constantly being told that average temperatures are (should be) rising. This in the face of record LOW temperatures. It's snowing in Orlando FFS!! Iguanas are falling out of trees!! Frozen stiff. Duh!

    I'm guessing there may be more than 1 harpoon, it's not that clever. lol. The problem is the 2000 to 2010 decade is the warmest on record (since 1960) and it seems to get warmer on average each decade. If you agree that a large part of the world is in trouble and getting worst and you even say it's not here "yet" why wait? There are far worse things to freak out about than carbon taxes, They may work, if not they'll be shelved. But don't disguise inaction as action. You are not rebelling against anything, simply alligning yourself with the polluters you hated in asia.

    What you are seeing up in the northern hemisphere is called weather.

    What you are getting hung up on is politics and spin.

    Most of the climate denying fraternity don't actually add much to the sum total of human knowledge. What they will do is pick one fact in isolation, or cherry pick/quote mine to find information that suits their agenda and there you have it, the controversy.

    You may dislike Al Gore, can't say I'm too fond of him myself, but you shouldn't shoot the messenger.

      You say we cherry pick, well what the fuck was NIWAs graph of New Zealands warming when out of literally hundreds of weather station data units they pick just 8 if not cherry picking as a generous description it was more likely organised unadulterated lying to suit the story. Two of those stations they used were remote pacidifc islands hundreds of kilometres from New Zealand. Total bollocks.

        No prediction necessary it's a simple fact. Climate is about trends, overall measurements, not local phenomena.

        I've not looked into the NIWA thing, however, what ever they have done, or not done, doesn't alter the facts that the climate is changing. And that AGW is a fact. There's too much science to back it up. Sure you may rattle around the edges, shout people down, but the beauty of science is that all the bluster that you may care to distribute all crumbles into nothing through simple facts.

        You have to understand that science is not politics. You seem very sensitive to anyone disagreeing with you, why is that?

        Also science is an interesting business, people are always seeking answers to questions, and once those questions have been answered it uncovers new questions.

        Whilst I am not in the numbers game, it would appear that broadly the science is settled. There are always those that like to disagree, the big question is, "What to do about it?"

        Have you read Lomborgs book?

        Your phrase, "all scientists agree". They are lies. is a straw man argument that I am not going to buy into.

    There's an interesting theory emerging on the psychology of those who prefer to deny that AGW is working. Maybe it's a form of mental illness? Human nature being what it is, most don't like change. and ostrich like they will do whatever they want to ignore the facts.

    There are really two questions here, 1. is AGW true? From what I can see, it would appear to be. the second, and probably more important one, is what are we going to do about it? As I said have you read, the Skeptical Environmentalist by Bjorn Lomborg, I have, I can loan you my copy if you wish.

    I've never said that the climate does not change. AGW seems to be heading towards a fact though.

    Your skin seems a bit thinner today, why is that?

      You are clearly not well enough read on this and have probably based your entire research on reading such liberal rags as New York Times to garner information about AGW.

      Also you suggest by linking my own mental illness to that I do not like change. You are completely wrong there. I love the chaos of change, because in change there comes opportunity.           You are the thickest commenter at this blog, like forever. you just don't get it. The raw data is gone, corrupted, dead, finito, kaput. The homogenised the raw data, then they tweeked it then they released the data set and deleted the raw data. All the the graphs, all the science is based on manipulated, homogenised and tweaked data.

          In other words a lie.

          Don't even get me started on the code used to make the hockey stick. You can put random numbers into the program and it will still make a hockey stick, so stop trying to convince me. It won't work.

    Hey all,

    Please point me to some ACTUAL SCIENTIFIC DATA that actually PROVES a link between MAN MADE CO2 and the sort of climate change that is being miss quoted / spun all over the media….and I MEAN FACTUAL DATA.

    If you actually sit for a few hours in front of your computer with an open mind and actually go on a FACT (and I mean real scientific data that proves CO2 caused only by us is responsible for huge warming never seen before on earth etc etc etc) you will not find any…..sounds cazy….but no….not really….

    What you will find however, is lots of data showing that we have increased CO2 emissions….
    You will also find lots of temperature graphs, some from proxies, some from weather stations, some being a hybrid, some from satellites…..(none of them show a link, though they do show the worlds temp going up and down in cycles… These cycles show up again and again and again depending on how far back you want to go)

    If you go and have a look at NASA photos (some of which have been made into lovely little flash movies month by month, you can actually see for yourself how the ice caps are doing! (there are also lots and lots of lovely graphs floating round the place to back this up…..

    You can also find some computer models (which are pretty much the only nail holding up the AGW 'science is settled debate' (and there is ALWAYS debate….that's what science is)…..do yourself a favor and have a look at the amazing graph showing the predictions these models make (have a ferret through say…..an IPCC report……now check out option C (from memory), you should see on the graph that the model hugs almost perfectly what the recorded temps have been so far. Shocking!…..how many ppm of extra CO2 did they put into the model to get that?…..the answer is quite interesting and will have you clicking away for hours……

    Look for facts! don't take the guy that does his lovely little debunking the science weekly thingy on you tube as gospel….he's actually pretty easy to debunk in his own right……maybe he could do next weeks 'climate crock of the week' about himself…lol

    After you've done all that it gets even more fun when you start looking into climate gate and find the blogs of people that have spent years trying to get a straight answer out of people who are / have been authors, lead authors, contributors etc to the IPCC…when the emails actually get put into chronological context it starts to get pretty damning….

    You might also wish to reflect (like whale has) how come people keep fiddling with actual data to make it fit computer generated models….. in a sane world. you'd be trying to figure out what you did wrong with your code rather than fiddle observed data…..

    Whale, this is an excellent call to arms, but what, really, can we do about it? The ETS has passed, and there is no way John The Appeaser or Mad Nick will repeal it. ACT has taken a couple of major credibility hits lately, and by the time Rodney gets thru fixing Auckland the ETS will have money flowing into the gummint coffers, by which time gutting NIWA like a trout (to which I’d gladly buy a ticket) will be a waste of time. The ETS is a fact of life for NZ now. New Zealand’s only hope is for a true centre-right governmen in 2011 with sufficient spine to repeal the ETS, wind back the lunacy caused by the pinkos and watermelons in the wasted decade, an put the fraudsters on trial. They should start with Charlatan Salinger.

    The science is not settled. It has been corrupted by scientists, politicians and the crims at the UN, all of whom have an agenda. Bill Ramsay, Uncle Joe (Uncle Helen’s role model) once used the term “useful idiots”. I suggest you look it up.

    Without CO2 in the atmosphere plants die, then animals die. Simple.
    What we have learned over the last decade (and many thanks to climategate) is that science is not free from the interference of politics. That organisations like NASA are all about the funding, not about the truth (as exposed by ex NASA staff). Same with UEA CRU. The peer review process was perverted and publications like Nature that were once revered scientific journals became nothing more than club newsletters for the Hockey Team.
    What we can be thankful for is that the planet doesn't listen to the bullshit. Sea levels and temperatures aren't rising catastrophically.

    well this sums it all up; anyone who thinks "global warming" translates as "everywhere on the planet gets warmer" isn't even worth debating the issue with. You've misunderstood the base premise- to the extent that your post actually supports the idea of human-induced extreme weather.

    If the phenomenon has been initially described as "Global Extreme Weather Increase", it may have helped you string the concepts together. Regardless, you should visit Tuvalu and tell them they're just imagining the rise in sea level- I'm sure they'd appreciate your well-researched input.

    Well Global warming aside , Al Gore 'sold' people on the idea becasue he is a good presenter and he presents with conviction ( and I know a lot of people who bought it hook line and sinker. I for one have had some great training in sales. It smacks of all sorts of sales techniques, most of which under normal circumstances people run a mile from for good reason. This time he sold you people.

    Apart from that, 1600 extra deaths every year in NZ due to the COLD. Mostly older people who cannot afford good heating. Last time I was stopped for speeding I pointed out the cop that I was in fact on my way to an old ladys house to make it warmer (product I sold) and was doing more for the country than he ever could. So fuck you arrogant a-holes who dish out tickets with pompous righteousness when there is real work to be done. But of course, it doesn't pay. (400 or so a year road deaths vs 1600 from the cold??
