Pachauri's Pants on Fire

The Climategate debacle and Glaciergate followup look set to destroy the IPCC and the Chairman Dr. Pachauri who has just been proven a liar.

The chairman of the leading climate change watchdog was informed that claims about melting Himalayan glaciers were false before the Copenhagen summit, The Times has learnt.

Rajendra Pachauri was told that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment that the glaciers would disappear by 2035 was wrong, but he waited two months to correct it. He failed to act despite learning that the claim had been refuted by several leading glaciologists.

The IPCC’s report underpinned the proposals at Copenhagen for drastic cuts in global emissions.

Dr Pachauri, who played a leading role at the summit, corrected the error last week after coming under media pressure. He told The Times on January 22 that he had only known about the error for a few days. He said: “I became aware of this when it was reported in the media about ten days ago. Before that, it was really not made known. Nobody brought it to my attention. There were statements, but we never looked at this 2035 number.”

Asked whether he had deliberately kept silent about the error to avoid embarrassment at Copenhagen, he said: “That’s ridiculous. It never came to my attention before the Copenhagen summit. It wasn’t in the public sphere.”

However, a prominent science journalist said that he had asked Dr Pachauri about the 2035 error last November. Pallava Bagla, who writes for Science journal, said he had asked Dr Pachauri about the error. He said that Dr Pachauri had replied: “I don’t have anything to add on glaciers.”

I wonder when the Nobel Institute are going to pull the Peace Prize awarded because of the glacier work? He directly lied, just like when he called the Indian Government’s researcher a practitioner of voodoo science despite the researcher being 100% right. Time for the whole shooting match to be wrapped up in fraud charges.

    The whole AGW is now proved to be a complete sham,even the Noble prise has been caught up in this.Key /Smith should be awear that eveytime they open their mouths on AGW they lose credibility.Shit even over at the Standard AGW is hardly mentioned now,I guess no one even there wants to look an idiot (than what they do already)

    Pachauri won't walk nor will he be fired because the "Spin" has not been developed to allow it to happen. There is too much at stake. How will the MSM be able to ignore his departure without acknowledging the corrupt practice and shonky science of the IPCC?

    I thought this site was about truth not character assassination. Stick to the facts about global warming rather than churning out the same old garbage. I think Mr Pachauri is entitled to get a few facts wrong considering the high number he deals with. Besides some of the deliberate untruths dribbled out by the skeptics defy belief.

      The truth went out of the IPCC when they started cooking the data… it was further compounded when they included essays from the WWF and Greenpeace as peer reviewed science. Does "Voodoo Science" ring any bells when it comes to character assassination Simon?

      Simon, he is NOT entitled to get a few facts wrong, especially when those wrong facts earned him a Nobel peace Prize, that is fraud.

      The facts on Global Warming are thus: Man has nothing to do with it, we can't fix it, anyone who says we can is a liar, and it is all part of a natural cycle.

      Pachauri is a fraud, the IPCC is a fraud, and IPCC AR4 has so many factual errors (lies) in it as to be completely worthless as a document.

      Where should I start. So many cherry picked half truths to choose from.
      OK…. the earth is warming as a result of the suns influence…. Utter rubbish it has had minimal effect in the last thirty years.

      Or, things were hotter in the great Medieval Warming period… Complete crap. Greenland may have been warmer than it is now, but samples from the rest of the world show the planet was clearly cooler and… the warming took place over a much longer period.

      And one of the most pathetic and devious from the flat earth skeptics…. the climategate emails clearly show scientists have been working to mislead the public. …. When I read the rubbish put out by the skeptics I am just amazed they feel qualified to even discuss the emails let alone cast doubt over the integrity of the writers.

      Honestly, even if you knew nothing of the science, which most of you clearly don't, you can quickly see which side is trying to mislead by the quality of the writing … and it isn't the IPCC or bulk of the worlds climate scientists who tell us we are in trouble. I know which side I believe.

    IPCC AR4 is nothing BUT untruths, spin, misquoted science, fiddled data, smoke and mirrors. Yes, a lot of the math and physics makes snse….until you tied it to BULLSHIT data. The most hilarious thing about the WG1 stuff is that it's used so much by skeptics (and yes, not just Lord Monkton… PHD climatologists, PHD chemists, PHD physicists, Paleoclimatologists…..an on and on) to debunk the IPCC's own science.

    IPCC AR4 is nothing but straw men, shockingly misrepresented science, crappy models that just last week bore the brunt of YET ANOTHER paper (peer reviewed of course) that makes any thinking person wonder why the models never predicted that!!? (hint….computer models are by in large SHIT HOUSE as far as conclusive evidence goes…but can be useful as an aid….just as they are constantly doing)….just ask Boeing why the 777 had to go back for a redesign….

    When you get to WG2 and WG3 it REALLY starts to fall apart! Oh my what a load of tripe! Read the IPCC's own description of itself on it's own web site…..then have a look at the sources it's used….can you say 'BULLSHIT!!' with me?

    Bottom line……lotsa money at stake here….lotsa lies been told here…..

      The sad thing about these investor groups is that people have have invested money on this scam not on there belief on climate fraud but of the company's they have shares in who have put life savings of these speculators ,just like the property market,the housing market and pensioner funds etc,for what so called carbon credits,or in realty its the cum from the breath of all these warming cock suckers

    I got some info last week that the Brits are having a bit of bother with wind turbines and cold weather…heh….

    It's seems they aren't the only ones….

    Interesting figures on these things….the ones they are talking about in the following clip are pretty small…

    BUT:
    a) check out how little power they supply (each one can supply energy to LIGHT 30 homes)
    b) check out what they need to do to get them going….(Hydraulics are frozen so they need to install heating systems………sounds like they need about enough energy to LIGHT 5 homes to me )

    Wind power is so PWND it's not funny….
