Two Accused Bashers out on bail and Have Name Suppression

Two thugs who are currently out on bail for Murder charges have savagely beaten a 22 year old man. Not only that the also have name suppression while they walk the streets of Napier bashing people

A relative of one of the murder victims was appalled that the man accused of murdering his family member was accused of reoffending while on bail.

But lawyers say judges who grant bail are doing the best they can since no-one can predict the future.

Latest available figures show that about 30 per cent of people accused of murder are granted bail. In 2007, 22 people accused of murder were freed on bail.

The men, who were granted name suppression in Napier District Court yesterday, were part of a group of four charged with attacking Mr Lawrence last Friday.

It is simply unacceptable for the public to be put at risk by having dangerous thugs out on bail awaiting trial for murder and worse still having their names suppressed.

The results of a liberal system:
    -murders get bail
    -psychos get parole
    and
    -kiddy fiddlers get name suppression

These are the efforts the government makes in order punish the society who pays their wage.

  • The Banker

WTF!!!! are you kidding…. all I can ask is why? oh thats right rapist, pedos and murderers are all actually nice people deep down lets just give them a break!

The NZ court system has a lot to answer for!

  • mjmeleisea

What do you care Whale? The victim was after all a red head

    • petal

      Score! :)

  • crabby

    New Judges please!!!

  • Titan-Uranus

Once again, proof the only people with "rights" in this country are the cunts that continually abuse them.

"But lawyers say judges who grant bail are doing the best they can since no-one can predict the future." FUCKWITS

    • jenna

thats right, no one can predict the future but they can use their commonsense!

  • Johnboy

Judges are only lawyers who have been promoted far beyond their level of ability.

  • http://www.nightcitytrader.blogspot.com Elijah Lineberry

I do not mean to be nitpicky… but perhaps can we leave it to the Jury to decide whether anyone is guilty of murder or assaulting this 22 year old chappie?

    • Sinner

      FUCK YOU LEFTY SCUM.

Crims don't need juries and punishment – they need gunishment

If the arresting officers had just slotted both of 'em – no more offending and no more offences.

      • http://www.nightcitytrader.blogspot.com Elijah Lineberry

        How silly.

        • Sinner

So do lefties – like you. Whinging on about rights and process etc etc etc.

When what mainstream NZ wants is to be rid of criminals, whingers, and lefties.

Drug-using, rights-arguing, whinging libz are just as left as the Greens!

          NZ doesn't need your sort.

          • Cadwallader

Elijah Lineberry a leftie? Yeah right.

Elijah is correct that pre-judging culpability is wrong.

Sinner is correct that once due process has been followed and a guilty finding made, then the range of sentences available to the judiciary ought be expanded.

Insisting on due process is not whinging it is the foundation of a civilised society. I accept some members of society do not warrant the natural justice offered by the system but it is better to allow them this than have the system inflict a wrongful punishment on an innocent party. No amount of Sinner's inane ranting will alter my thoughts in this regard.

          • mark muir

…get your hand off it man…..

          • Cadwallader

Hand off what? Your friend Sinner's insanity?

    • jenna

i think better safe than sorry. would you let an accused paedophile babysit your child? would you feel ok about it if he had name suppression and you didnt know about it? what if you found out he diddled your daughter – would you still rather wait to know if hes officially guilty or not?

  • Simon

Lineberry only the jury has to consider the thugs innocent until proven guilty. Anyone else can assume what they like about the accused including retard judges who should lock scum away.

  • Sinner

…and including the cops who could just shoot 'em

  • PK:)

I thought of you today Whale when I read that story on the front page of the Com Post.

I thought I can't wait to get home and see what the Whale has to say about this.

It's like they're playing right into your hands mate, it's like the out of touch, troughing, judicial brotherhood is playing right into your hands Cam.

Think Sensible Sentencing Trust, Think major overhaul of the probation service after Graham Burton and you get some idea of how much more of a major issue name suppression is than it was three months ago.

And they even have the gall to suppress the reason for the suppression….

  • rusty

Why are the names of judges supressed when reporing these types of incidents. They should be publically named. We pay their inflated salaries so why shoudl be not know what they are doing?

    • Sinner

      And their addresses.

  • caleb

    what a joke.

    • Inventory2

Except no-one's laughing Caleb – least of all the young guy who had his head kicked in at the weekend.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/Pauleastbay Pauleastbay

This is about the suppression and the bail you wanker —– theres not one post here about guilt ————-

  • Titan-Uranus

The funny thing is, the instant I hear a lawyer say, my client is" innocent until proven guilty "or "beyond a reasonable doubt" I know his client is guilty, they are the weasel words that no innocent person uses.

    • Sinner

First we kill all the lawyers!

    • Cadwallader

      …until you are wrongfully accused!

  • paul

Usual 'rock ape' suspects no doubt

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/AuntieDrea AuntieDrea

isn't it amazing that scumbags like this still get bail. I was the victim of a crime and the person had over 125 convictions and was out on bail at the time. When is the judiciary going to learn and stop granting it for serious crimes.

  • http://www.nightcitytrader.blogspot.com Elijah Lineberry

    Sinner, I want to point out a couple of things to you;

    1. I have not been a member of the Libz since October 2008 (and regret having ever been a member due to the bizarre behaviour and lunacy one was exposed to).

    2. I have never consumed an illegal drug in my life – I do not even drink alcohol anymore.

    3. I think you will find the chaps who sought to rid their Country of criminals and others, ignored ‘rights’ and processes, and engaged in mod rule…were Communists in the Soviet Union! (duh!) – how odd the ‘lefty’ does not realise he is a lefty.

    4. I seriously doubt ‘mainstream’ New Zealand is something you are part of, nor do I think ‘mainstream’ New Zealand wants to take part in a Stalinist purge of people they dislike.

    5. My Australian Company is prospering and New Zealand will be doing without my good self very soon; one shall soon be in Sydneytown permanently making a fortune whilst you chaps slide into third World status by 2025.

  • Cadwallader

    Elijah,

I dealt with this in a reply to Sinner above.

Do not imagine you'll be in paradise in Australia. If NZ is in the third world by 2025 so will Australia be. If you think NZ's social problems are severe you are headed for a resounding surprise. I remain uncertain why you left the Libz.

  • kehua

What about the scum jailed today for stabbing a guy to death, and fuck me the Judge has given the bastards name suppression. Judge Asher are they your chilren?????

    • Titan-Uranus

I`ve just read this ,one found guilty of MURDER gets 11years, wow,the "judge" really let him have it and the other got 6, I guess that will teach them.
And, one fuckwit on the jury wanted to acquit.

Who says NZ is soft on crime? Cos they are fuckin` right.

      This really is just insane.

  • Rob

Yes you can predict the future it is history repeating itself. These scum will have a long list of previous convictions, they are probably also in breach of their bail conditions. The penalty will be don't do it again this is your third last warning.

  • jackp

The Judge should be fired or quite because of his incompetence. I know some lawyers and they are an arrogant breed. All those lawyer jokes are justified.
