Brian Tamaki is as mad as a box of frogs

Brian Tamaki (I refuse to call him Bishop) is mad. Now I’m not really one to talk but Brian actually thinks he is the physical manifestation of God on Earth.

I don’t know about you guys but I really don’t think someone as venal as Brian Tamaki would be the Second Coming of Christ, would you?

It is worse though.

It is inevitable that Satan will attempt to destroy the work of God by spreading lies and slanders against God’s Annointed Man. As the Last Days unfold, Bishop Tamaki will undoubtedly come under increasing attack from his enemies.

In recent days we have seen this in the media. A recent episode of Campbell Live attempted to “expose” Destiny’s finances – though it is clear that Destiny has done nothing illegal.

Earlier this year, the Church and God’s Man Bishop Tamaki was the subject of an attack on Sunrise, an early morning TV3 show in which Dr Dennis Green, a religious scholar, compared the Bishop to Jim Jones and called Destiny a cult.

He’s nuts, and now his flock are starting to discover just how venal he really is. He is running a cult, a cult of personality. I think he is actually believing all the shit his followers say about him.

I wonder though when Brian will tell his flock that his marriage is a charade, and that Mrs Tamaki hasn’t been seen for months at the house in Maraetai

  • coventry

Someone call up Cool-Aid and make sure they get the delivery to Density right this week, it’s the bottles with the extra additive.

  • darryl

If I was Satan and had got to the point where my only weapons to fight God were Sunrise and Campbell Live I’d be feeling pretty glum.

  • alex Masterley

    God’s annointed man!
People have been taken away by men in white coats for saying that.
The reference to last days must be to his marriage.

  • Brian Smaller

There is one thing that you might be missing though. He may be God’s Annointed Man. Who knows the ways of the Big Guy (and I mean the guy bigger than Tamaki).

If you believe in all this stuff one must accept the possibility that the deity may choose an avatar in the form of a Tamaki-type.

  • BurtonsBalls

I admire your balls for talking about him WO. Theres no crazier bastards than religious fanatics, double the security and load the pump action mate!

  • peter

I’m amazed he’s still only a lowly Bishop, surely he has served his time and must now be planning his ordination as Arch Bishop !

Funny, I seem to recal the Bakkers in the USA with the PTL (pass the loot) ministry…They came unstuck in a grand fashion too…

He’s not the Messiah, He’s just a naughty boy !

    (apologies to messrs Monty Python)

  • hagues

    @brian smaller
I accept that God can choose whom He wants as his spokesperson. However, the fact the Brian actively preaches a false gospel, shows that he either lacks sufficient ability to properly understand the Bible, or worse deliberately teaches falsehood for personal gain. Either case rules him out as a true teacher of God’s word.

  • John Boy

When Christ comes back even you secular types won’t be debating if its Him or not. He said it will be a big deal and everyone will know. Tamaki isn’t God however much he might like to be so and I’m surprised this rift is even news.

  • Jimmie

Yeah – its a bit of a problem for Tamaki as calling yourself ‘the physical manifestation of God on earth’ is putting himself in Jesus’s shoes. As He was the physical manifestation of God. So to follow this logically Tamaki is calling himself Jesus Christ, who was the Son of God, who church teaching goes is God.
In other words Tamaki is saying that he is God…….what a dumb bum. If there is one thing that pisses God off more than anything is mortal men calling themselves God.
So yeah I think Tamaki has a major humbling experience heading his way……..I just hope all the people that have followed him give up on God because of it that would be a real shame.

  • crabby

in my opinion religion is slavery. This is a great example of such.

  • old timer

Well he wont fit through the eye of the needle but when he meets the Big Fella he’ll shit through the eye of an needle.

I don’t know whether to take your post seriously or not.

However, the Destiny Church does not own either bishoptamaki.org.nz or destinychurch.co.nz. They are both fake domains registered to appear to be from them.

Quite aside from the domain being registered only on Friday, there are a number of things that would make anyone suspicious of its legitimacy.

It took me all of a few short minutes doing a few whois queries to determine that. The registrant information listed is and used to implicate the churhc, but is definitely not the Destiny Church.

However, the only legitimate domain is destinychurch.org.nz.

So doing the next normal thing, I gave the church a call and actually asked them directly. I have a recording of the call as well if you want it. The church says outright that the ONLY website the church owns or that is officially to do with the church is destinychurch.org.nz and all the others, including bishoptamaki.org.nz and destinychurch.co.nz are fake.

Please, you go off at the Herald for doing beat up work. How about applying your own standards to your own articles in this situation.

    • http://whaleoil.gotcha.co.nz Whaleoil

That’s good of you to do all that research Steve but I still think he thinks all that….the Bishop thing, the covenant ring, the God wants me to be rich claptrap. The man is running a cult and he is a class A hypocrite.

  • T.Oh

An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it.

  • Rachel C

Steve C: The domain name bishoptamaki.org.nz was registered on 1/12/2009?

  • http://www.cadlow.co.nz Spanishbride

ooops maybe that w word may have to be used WO?

  • http://stevesgeekspeak.com Steve C

@Rachel C : You are right. I was looking at too many whois records and got that date wrong. However, that does not invalidate the point. The domain is obviously fake, and a call to the church has confirmed that it is fake.

Anyone can make that same call and they will give the same answer they gave me.

Cam has lately been making noises about how the MSM never put real effort into publishing the facts (such as the Michael Laws article in the Herald) yet he goes and runs this post which is just as misleading?

The call I made to Destiny Church to confirm it one way or the other was less than 60 seconds long.

  • Rachel C

Actually, the domain name has been around since 2005:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20050629233243/http://www.bishoptamaki.org.nz/

  • Rachel C

Steve C: perhaps they once owned it and now it is under the control of someone else. It would be in their interests to get the domain name information saying Destiny Church owns it removed from the records.

  • RAS

You guys have been punked. bishoptamaki.ORG.NZ is a fake. The real domain/webiste is at bishoptamaki.ORG
    Check the whois.

  • http://stevesgeekspeak.com Steve C

Rachel, the point is not how long the domain has existed or when it was registered. The point is that the website hosted at that address is verifiable as fake.

In the interests of holding Cameron to the same standard he expects others to live up to, I am simply pointing out that he is attributing words and ideals, by proxy, to Brian Tamaki that Brian Tamaki has never said and would not likely ever say publicly.

If it wasn’t so completely ludicrous, the content of that website are almost libellous.

I don’t care whether Brian Tamaki thinks those things or is completely off his rocker. But it is dangerous to pass off as fact something that is blatantly fiction. Regardless of what you think of Brian Tamaki or Destiny Church.

Especially when you’re someone as public as Cameron has become in recent months through his campaign for transparency with our legal system.

To get hung up on the date of registration for the domain is completely missing the point.

  • darryl

Fair call Steve C, it looks like the bishoptamiki site is more likely to have been set up by one of his supporters rather then Brian himself. If Brian had wanted to say anything he’d most likely do it online at the destiny church site or in one of his sermons.

  • Rachel C

Steve, as I said: “It would be in their interests to get the domain name information saying Destiny Church owns it removed from the records.” It would also be in their interests to remove it from Wikipedia as his official website.

I am pretty sure it at least once was his website, lots of sites referred to it when his book came out.

If it’s a fake, it has fooled many other sites and people as well.

  • http://stevesgeekspeak.com Steve C

Whaleoil: I don’t disagree that he’s running a cult. But he’s no different from thousands of other “ministers” in the US that do exactly the same thing, with an almost identical MO. Including the rings, the books, the merchandise, the way they expect tithing and, soon, the TV Preacher spot.

Rachel: Yes, it would be in their interests. But I know they have IT guys working for them (they’re a big Cisco and HP customer) who can deal with all that for them. I’m not going to offer them free advice. ;-) On the flipside, I agree with Cam more often than not, so think it only fair to call him out at times.

The recording of my call to Destiny Church is at http://stevesgeekspeak.com/?attachment_id=108

Disclaimer: I have a nasty cold at the moment and sound worse than my usual bad sounding voice.

Gidday … i’ve listened to Steves recorded phone call and it sounds ok. ON the other hand i dont disagree at all with whale.

However – i remember years ago a sermon by a guy who preached on the parable of the “wheat and the tares” (tares being literally ‘weeds’or unwelcome growth).

The gist of it is … dont go round too much perhaps pulling up all the weeds because you may just pull up the good stuff as well. This does NOT imply i think Destiny is Either the WHEAT or the TARES or weeds ok! As i remember… the biblical injunction is to give the luxury of time so the difference twixt the wheat and the weeds can be seen (dont ask me for the NT references because i cant remember.) Example – i went mad on cottage garden mixes of seeds once – dumbass that i am … i ended up thinking some things were weeds and pulled up expensive seedlings and threw them away because i didnt wait (some of us never learn…i never read instructions till ive buggered it all up first… )

So – from excerpts i have seen from the TV programme that destiny screen and people i have met – a lot of people have been positively influenced by Destiny…..apparently ex gang members and so on … i saw a segment where mostly polynesian guys gave testimony to the change in their lives. It was very very impressive and obviously not stage managed. Lets allow credit where credit is due.

To quote the good book … those who are not against me are for me (i may have that wrong)

Does Destiny church affect you at all – if not – i think leave it alone.

I am not a christian – i dont like the idea of overtithing and inflicting it on people …. but let the ex- or existing – destiny folk be the ones to comment.

The rest of us just really dont know enough.

Mr Tamaki is a good preacher … obviously well versed in scripture.

Let him stand or fall by the natural progression of time.

In all honesty … i dont think the guy is the kool-aid type. I do know – that it can be a very dangerous thing to inculcate or cause to beome a reality any ‘siege mentality” through ill considered actions.

Guys – lets prove to Destiny that the secular world can be openminded – and thereby demonstrate that there is a way – other than extremism of any shape or colour perhaps.

Im just jealous – i want the boat and the harley. But he isnt the only pastor with those things.

Lets recognise perhaps – that in Destiny there are some very sincere people with a very profound faith (i cant believe im saying this lol).

Its like the mormons – some people hate them coming to the door – i say ….”more power to them” … they have a positive effect on many people.

I can sense retribution coming to me soon..

Let the creator be the judge of Mr Tamaki – if people want to contribute money let it happen. That is their democratic right. Drawing lines in the sand doesnt always work. In my view – best thing to do is to back off and see what happens.

Brian – can i borrow one of your Audis – please???

    Cheers
    G

  • garry

Talking about mormons … i have in the past had a bigoted and bad attitude to Jehovahs Witnesses … well not so long ago i had two little old (and i mean little and old) ladies come to my door. Now because i loved my own Grans and my mum – and i’ve got a soft spot for elderly people (im not far off it so im investing in my own future) I for a change was welcoming.

The older of the two – was quite the most dignified, delightful old lady – she spoke beautifully and was wonderful. I told her what my belief was and that i believed in a concept (non christian) of spirituality … the lovely old lady looked at me and smiled … she said …”the scripture says (and i dont remember the reference) that all are without excuse when they see the creation…”

That rocked me. I dont agree with the old dear with her stance in totality … but i have to say … we are ALL without excuse if we fail to see the wonder in the world we have around us (and for a cynic like me that is something)

    Best wishes all

    G

    Hello everyone.

    This is God speaking.

I want you all to know that Brian is not my appointed one. nor is he “the physical manifestation of me.”

I hope that settles the debate.

The only chance that fucker has of being my right hand man is if I’m left with a choice of a member of the greens, labour, or him – then its just a case of the lesser evil.

  • Rob

Hasn’t he done well for himself? Most criminals who find God, do so to get an early release from prison or when they get to old and slow become social workers or similar public servants with zero accountability. Multi choice.
    A. I learnt to read in prison “How to create a cult for dummies”.
    B. Maybe I am a lesser God
    C. If I was Satan where would I hide a bishops robes would be a good disguise.
    D. I just like Wanking off

  • jabba

I also wonder what his next promotion is .. I have no idea about rank (no, not BT) .. is it possible to be Assistant Pope or Pope in waiting?

  • Titan-Uranus

    Next promotion?
He just has`nt got the balls yet to announce that he is the risen jesusfuckingchrist.
Give it another few years and he will,no doubt about it.
Tho, I am surprised he only went for Bish ,shoulda gone for pope, what a chickenshit.

  • Nasska

Leave the bishop alone. He’s obviously barking mad & must be good for a few more laughs yet.

  • Axeman

A few minutes before the services started, the congregation was busy paying their tithes by EFTPOS. Suddenly, Satan appeared at the front of the Destiny Church. Everyone started screaming and running for the front entrance, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away from the devil incarnate.
Soon everyone had exited the church except for Bishop Brian who stood calmly, without moving, seeming oblivious to the fact that God’s ultimate enemy was in his presence.
So Satan walked up to the Bish and said, “Don’t you know who I am?”
Tamaki replied, “Yes, I sure do.”
“Aren’t you afraid of me?” Satan asked.
“No, I am not.” said the Bishop.
“Don’t you realise I can kill you with a word?” asked Satan.
“I don’t doubt it for a minute,” returned Brian, in an even tone.
“Did you know that I could cause you profound, horrifying, physical AGONY for all eternity?” persisted Satan.
“Yes I know,” was the calm reply.
“And you’re still not afraid?” asked Satan.
    “Nope.”
More than a little perturbed, Satan asked, “Well, why aren’t you afraid of me?”
Mr Tamaki calmly replied, “Because I have been married to your sister for over 30 years.”

    Just one or two points…..
I would much rather have all those Destiny Church members walking down Lambton Quay than all those same guys walking down Lambton Quay patched up.

At the time Helen ( the despicable lying bitch) got very agitated because there was someone else that obviously had some control over a large group of people and it wasn’t the Labour Party who loves to control everyone .

Also its the height of arrogance to presume that all these Church members do not have the intelligence to realise that they are being suckered. Hundreds go to Sky City every day and get just as suckered.

I have met some peopel who have turned really shit lives around becuase of going to this church.

So, what….if people want to tithe let them, the Mormans do it, we don’t have all this bullshit over that.

If people are happy to belong let them, if Tamika wants to proclaim himself th Messiah let him, seriously is he really doing any great harm?

He’s making a few quid but it appears to be a bit more honestly than some of the owners of recently defunct finance companies ,who really were a bunch of arseholes and they weren’t playing Jesus they were playing God with the punters money
