Why can't the Herald on Sunday tell the Truth?

The HoS seems to be having a bad run lately, with many questionable decisions as what to publish and some very shonky repeaterage. The paper seems to have lost it’s way since Shayne Currie departed and Jono Milne, standing in till the replacement arrives is clearly being ignored by his staff.

This week is no exception firstly on the front page they run the most egregious fact free schlock journalism I have seen in a long time. The whole front page makes out that Michael Laws is an ogre and a wife-beater. This is so far from the truth as to actually be libelous. The HoS is obviously in the thrall of some very bitter angry locals who have taken everal different incidents and lump them all together in an attempt to smear Michael Laws. The HoS has dutifully repeated it.

David Farrar has also picked up on this and outlines how the front-page schlock bears no resemblance or relation to the article inside the paper.

Gotcha! has obtained a press release by Michael Laws’ wife Leonie Brookhammer. As is obvious from her statement the Herald on Sunday is so wrong that Michael and Leonie should easily win a libel and/or defamation action against them. The facts of the Police call out aren’t in dispute, once again some feral in-breds, whose parents are probably first cousins, have decided in election year to make the family of Michael Laws experience anonymous intimidation, rock throwing and bully-boy tactics in the mistaken belief that Michael will somehow stop standing up for what he believes in. They are cowards, now they are resorting to innuendo and rumours which the HoS, being the repeaters they are, repeated.

Their schlock journalism and repeating isn’t just limited to the words but also to their images. Both online and until today they have used a representation of Rachel Glucina that is so far from the truth it isn’t funny. I have mocked, repeatedly, numerous repeaters from the HoS for their outrageous mis-representation of the product. Though good knows who would pay for the Chop. Why the HoS feels the need to Shop the Chop is obvious when you meet her at a buffet table hoovering up all the hors d’ouevre.

It would be nice to have some integrity and some journalism at the HoS. Strangely they also seem to think that Ethics is a county in England.

    I have to wonder why you ruin an otherwise well argued argument, with a very valid point (although I wouldn’t stop with HoS, journalism in general seems to be slipping further and further), with ugly cheap slander. Isn’t that what you are railing against here?

    Like it or note, New Zealand, in the longer term is fucked. The educated masses appear to be the ones having vasectomies (i.e. not breeding) whilst those on sucking on the public tit (i.e. not working, taking all they can from the welfare system etc – i.e. breeding, utilising all the incentives that the State provides) reduce the long term prospects of the country. When we are eventually realise that we are wallowing around like some 3rd world country he penny will drop, but by then it will be far too late.

    For many, breeding is the way to survive (thanks Working for Families) and nothing else seems to matter.

    Actually reading that it makes it perfectly clear in the first three lines that its Michael Laws who keeps calling the Police time and time again….

    I didnt say the press release said that, tis my opinion. While I may agree with some of what he says – I dont agree with everything. The cops have said it was a domestic attendance .. so something happened.

    Obviously a lot of people can’t read.
    Its clear isn’t it? Michael Laws has had repeated attacks on his family home – so he calls the police. It is NOT a “domestic” and the police should not be talking about it that way.
    Instead the reporters should be defending Laws right to speak out without joining in the attack. How many repeaters would like it if their families were attacked because of what they wrote? Would that be a domestic? or would they be screaming front page headlines – reporter attacked because they actually reported something accurately!

    Oh dear, the amount of stupid and irony in this statement is really getting up there.

    It is quite clear that this last incident did involve relationship issues hence why the Police classed it as a domestic related incident and made it very clear that although it was a domestic no violence had occurred.

    It does however wrongly infer that previous call-outs may have also been of this nature when no-one aside from the Police and people involved can state how many of the previous incidents were domestic related.

    Perhaps it’s time for a website dedicated to a media liar of the week, and let the public rain shit on them for that week, any shit, personal, private, rumor, it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, as it doesn’t seem to matter to them anyway.
    Putting these repeaters on the receiving end of a shit shower may, (but I doubt it) make them think twice before trying to malign someone else
