Lawyer asks for my arrest for contempt

Mike Antunovic the lawyer for of Wellington District Commander Superintendent Pieri Munro charged with assaulting his son today applied to the judge to have me charged with contempt and for an arrest warrant to be issued.

The Judge reportedly (from my spies sitting in court) rolled his eyes and asked Mr Antunovic is he wanted to spend the rest of the day arguing a contempt case or get on with dealing with his clients case. Clearly at this point in time the judge has prevailed, though I expect I can’t be far off being picked up for this.

One really shouldn’t upset the establishment, especially when they are Police, judges, lawyers and the Solicitor-General.

This trial is really looking like a case of hush for the boys. Suppression available for the guardians of the system. What ever happened to an open justice system. It is now a system for the boys and the famous.

I don’t really think the Solicitor-General understands the publicity hell that would unleash upon him should I be arrested and jailed.

Heh, I went to school with his son.

    I, too, salute you.

There used to be a phrase “justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done.”

Damn sight little of either in this banana republic.

Kia kaha Cam. Don’t let the bastards grind you down.

I just don’t ‘ get ‘ this shutting the gate after the horse has bolted. His name was published by no less than two newspapers. How can he now be granted name suppression?

  • titanuranus

Because SB ,NZs legal system is fucked beyond repair,it is only there to help lawyers get rich, not to provide justice to the the citizens of this country.

  • toby

So supposing you get arrested, what then? Presumably you can post bail and get out? Or can you not just pay for bail in NZ? And what happens if you mention some interesting names while on bail or link to a newspaper article which names a person? I suppose the lawyer would just wee his pants then.

He has a point Cam, you are an annoying prick sometimes. I would like you to be a little more balanced toward our muslim friends.

Go hard Cam! Whether you personally win or lose the issue is not going to die.

    Gidday

Of course you should be arrested for contemp of the cpourt. So should every other thinking man in the bloody country cos the bloody court is conteptible.

  • megashitstirrer

Ooh, ouch Cam, now I know what its like to be a Helen Klark supporter.

I don’t think Michael is the brighest of lawyers and in my view, is hardly an adversary in the courtroom. Interesting that his team failed miserably in arguing against corrupt, Crown prosecuters and a sick, old and bias judge (who had no business been on the bench), in R vs Watson.

You know the score Cam, let us know when and where and we can organise a whanau support group.

    Good luck to you Whale.

If you are ever formally charged and the matter goes to Court the public debate will be intense. However within the Law Profession the debate will be especially vibrant I suspect.

The problem with non-disclosure of identity is that it does not achieve what it is intended to do. The rationale of non-disclosure is to achieve a verdict untainted by public opinion and, should an accused be found not guilty, to allow that accused to carry on with life unaffected. These may be tenable aims in a larger community but here in NZ our population is scarcely greater than a mid-size city in other countries. The notion of anyone facing charges without his/her identity becoming known to a significant portion of the community is futile. You are not damaging anyone or anything by releasing details.

Good luck Cameron, you know my views on name suppression The N.Z judicial system is set up to protect the crims and not the victims. My exhusband got name suppression when convicted for fraud last year…the judge gave him this without seeking my views on the matter therefore breaching my rights as a victim.Simon Power wrote to me and said I should get a lawyer to overturn this, why should I have to pay for one of those snakes to use the court as a further ride on the gravy train…I would rather pay the $1000 fine or go to jail for breaching the name suppression order. Where is the best place for me to publish his name?

    • http://whaleoil.gotcha.co.nz Whaleoil

Right here, send me your story and I will publish it, also send me links to news items at the time. email is in the contact page.

  • dorkusjuice

What do you get if you cross a kangaroo with a whale? Cameron Slaters’ justice system apparently. Let’s just abandon the courts altogether and leave criminal and civil judgements in the hands of someone who so obviously knows best. All rise for His Honour, Supreme Justice Slater.

  • titanuranus

Probably need to change your name to fuckwitjuice.

While you are at it maybe explain why arseholes should get the protection not afforded to their victims or the rest of the law-abiding citizenry of this country.

  • dorkusjuice

fuckwitjuice- i love it, very witty titanicsphincter, or is that whaleoil? a bit sad isn’t it logging on to your own blog under different psuedonyms? I’m more concerned with the favourable treatment given to your rich mates when it comes to sentencing, most recent example being Mark Bryers.
