How did they know he was gay?

Gay Netball Coach sackedA prestigious Christian school’s Board of Trustees have been told to attend a human rights awareness course after sacking a netball coach because he was gay, the Christchurch Star has reported today.

Middleton Grange School also had to apologise to the 28-year-old and pay him a confidential reparation sum. Yesterday, the man broke his silence about the situation, hoping it would prevent the same thing happening to someone else.

“It’s hard enough to go through finding yourself and accepting yourself and being `out’ in the first place,” said the man, who wished to remain anonymous. “Having to go through discrimination doesn’t help.”

The man said he was trying to look at the positive and that the apology from the school had given him closure.

How’d they know he was gay? Because he coached netball?

At least the girls weren’t in any danger. It isn’t the gay teachers you should be worried about it is the creepy pedos anyway.

I mean what where they thinking? Really? Just because you are christian doesn’t mean you have to be naive and bigoted.

    My experiences at a church boarding school in the 60′s inoculated me against all forms of religion for the term of my life. Yet it still amazes me that committed god botherers can on a weekly basis gaze around them at a sea of unused pews & not understand that their bigoted, judgmental attitudes do more to empty churches than an official policy of compulsory congregational crucifixion.

    As the old saying goes…. “God save me from your followers”.

    If it is a Christian school it is not a state school so they should be able to hire whoever they want – the state is forcing them to do a human rights awareness course? What the?

    While I agree the first consideration in hiring a netball coach should be ‘can this person coach netball?’ this is a school, a Christian school to boot, so some consideration to the moral standing of the staff and the fit of the staff with the doctrines and beliefs of the school is important. Is it really news to anyone that Christianity teaches restraint on the practice of homosexual conduct?

    What about the human rights of the parents of the kids in that school to raise their children as they see fit? Or the staff to form whatever beliefs they like about whatever they like – to form and practice whatever ethical and religious beliefs they like? What about the right of the board to run its business as it likes? Gay rights are the club against freedom here it appears.

    Secondly “creepy pedos” are more likely to be gay than straight most pedo acts are same sex acts – they are performed by men on boys.

      Just because they like performing sex on children of the same sex does not make them gay. It is about power not sexuality.

    That is one theory Cam but that’s a rather convenient slogan – it is clear cut sexual attraction, in pedophilia it tends to be adult male wanting male child, in rape it tends to me adult male wanting adult female. It doesn’t make all gays pedophiles any more than it makes all men rapists. It is simply an observation.

    I have more time for the theory that those that carry out pedophilia or rape have sick sexual urges and are acting on some fantasy.

    Nasska “a sea of unused pews”? Aside from your bigoted comments, you obviously do not go to church much. Most churches I have gone to are expanding, planting new churches to cover the steady increase of pew use. It is the liberal church that is in decline, the evangelical, pentecostal and catholic churches are in growth and have been for quite some time.

    Contrary to Mad Madds peddos are mainly hetrosexual in general nature who target pre-puberesent children of either sex though usually girls.Often its found thats its down to whos availible to molest.It is mostly the androgynous look of pre-pubes that gets peddos excited.
