Thank you God

For those who don’t believe there is a God, I give you irrefutable proof. My prayers have been answered.

Speculation is rife that NZ First leader Winston Peters and his former adviser Michael Laws are to team up again as part of a “relaunch” of the party this year.

Neither Mr Laws, who is to stand down as Whanganui mayor this year, nor Mr Peters would confirm the rumours. But MPs from both sides of the House and sources close to NZ First said they were aware of plans.

One source said Mr Peters had indicated he wanted to relaunch the party this year.

The annual conference will be in Christchurch in late October.

Speculation about Mr Laws has focused on the Whanganui seat, held by National’s Chester Borrows with a majority of 6333.

But he has also been linked with Dunedin North, held by Labour’s Pete Hodgson, who is retiring.

Please, please, Lord let it be true that the most corrupt politician in New Zealand, ever, will run again, please I beg this of you. The first question every half decent repeater or churnalist should have for both men is:

When is NZ First going to repay the taxpayer the $158,000 they stole to campaign illegally.

In fact i am of the opinion that until it is repaid they should be shunned, except to answer that question. If Peters stands I will ensure that I am at as many of his public meetings as possibly to ask that question as often as necessary.

I can’t say I am quite so happy. NZ First are a political party of selfish, backward-looking socialist xenophobes in a nation full of selfish, backward-looking socialist xenophobes – they will always have a ripe constituency. I have no doubt that there is 5% of the population out there stupid enough to vote for them again.

This is why I say a party has to be pragmatic about policies and cannot stick to lofty ideals.
Scenarios if NZ First gets back into Parliament are:
    1. National ceases to be the overnment. IMO Labour is far more likely to stitch a deal with NZ First than National.
    2. If National does stitch a deal with NZ First (especially if NZ First is in a ‘king making’ role) , it will extract a very steep price from National both in representation and in policies. This means most of National’s ideals are out the window, and all National can do is make the best of a bad deal as it had to in the late 1990′s. This would pave the way for a Labour victory in 2014 (and IMO Helen Clark will leave the UN job and return to NZ to seek the Labour leadership to fight that election).

Therefore like it or not, National has no real option but to reach out to those who might swing their votes from National to NZ First. There is another possible option – let Labour and NZ First form a coalition for three years and hope they disintergrate. My view is if NZ First had gone into coalition with Labour in 1996, National would have won in 1999 and Helen would have been political dog tucker then.

As we all know 5% of the population believes Elvis is still alive. So it is conceivable that 5 % of the population would vote for Peters. The reason you can’t find Elvis is that he went home.

Nothing to worry about, he had a meeting last week and only 60 showed up…. They seem to be dying off quick :)
