A memo from Rick

Isn’t it wonderful how the Whaleoil tipline provides fascinating insights into corporate communications, especially inside TVNZ.

Enjoy the staff email from Rick the spinner. Don’t you just love the way he abuses the SST. His record on the revenue front isn’t so flash, so a bit pot, kettle, black there Mr Ellis.

The reason I presume the SST didn’t publish your spin is because you never issued the receipts as asked for. Your figures are spin and bullshit. Rick Ellis you are a trough-pig.

If I was working at TVNZ and got that memo from the boss my immediate reaction would be `why would he give a fuck what I think? Why would he send me a breakdown? We get a lot of our Sunday stories from the very source that he is bagging, woops seems like the boss should be called Boss Hog’

I dont like the idea of all these free lunches, but the money here is peanuts. I mean TVNZ is something like a $250 mill business , and the CEO is only spending $1500 pm on entertaining ….please. Im sure cleaning the windows at the office costs that much, for his office alone. Its results that matter and the ad/tv world operates on the long lunch and you cant do that at Wendys.
As long as its not MPs being fed, who cares

Mediatart, you make an interesting observation but what’s needs to be remembered is that after the expenses of politicians were made public, the publication of subsequent expense returns showed a noticeable decline in the amount being charged up. Also, the expenses run up by Government Department CEO’s were released for the first time a few days ago and I imagine their subsequent expense claims will also show a decline now that the disinfectant of publicity is upon them

This begs the question; To what extent were these credit card expenses necessary in the first place, if media publicity was all that was required to reign in their spending ?

Surely if all this spending was justifiable there would be no decline in the monies being charged up – even after the media reported it. Isn’t this the real test about whether the spending was for the benefit of the company, not the person?

The truth is the public do not begrudge necessary expenditure, but they do begrudge funding a lifestyle of extravagance and self-indulgence.

These politicians and CEO’s know they are cheating the system – that why there spending drops off the moment they get caught.

Nice one Rick, so there are potentially 599 more of you Len Brown 2.0s toughing it up at the nations expense!

Cut the ego spending (“This one is on me lads, look at how successful I am with my state funded platinum card”) and pay the people a dividend for once!

Also, bring back the Dog Show, it costs you fuck all to make and a lot of cunts like it!

Wasn’t it Rick the Dick who after a particularly expensive wet lunch made the comment that TVNZ were fulfilling their obligation to the charter through programmes like Police 10/7 and Border Patrol?
