There was a front page story in the SST yesterday and it isn’t online. You would think the front page story would be online wouldn’t you but it isn’t. So in the absence of any back-bone from the online editors of stuff I present a case of electoral fraud that only Len Brown could have benefited from.
The Latin phrase is Cui bono (“To whose benefit?”, literally “as a benefit to whom?”, a double dative construction) it is a Latin adage that is used either to suggest a hidden motive or to indicate that the party responsible for something may not be who it appears at first to be. The only possible person who could benefit from such an outrageous electoral fraud is Len Brown.
We know this, because the facebook page for John Tailer Banks points to a website called “vivalaresistance.co.nz” , which is owned by Glen Snelgar of 11 Eterna Place in Manukau. PO Box for the website also matches the PO Box on John Tailer Banks’ facebook page.
Snelgar has a history of standing for local office having stood for Auckland Mayoralty in 2007, plus Eden Albert Com Board, plus Maungakiekie Council. He stood on the Truewater platform, which was an anti-water pricing ticket of his own invention, essentially a left wing ticket. This puts him in a league with other left-wing nuters like Penny Bright.
Curiously, he was once an ACT candidate in 2002 and 2005, which suggests he’s a highly unstable person, politically speaking, or perhaps a Labour plant who got past ACT’s pathetic candidate scrutiny and ended up a candidate for them. I spoke to Rodney Hide today and he said hehad no idea who glen Snelgar was or is.
The electoral roll confirms John Tailer Banks lives at 11 Eterna Place, with other residents being an Albert Snelgar, Robin Snelgar, John Tailer Banks and Greg Snelgar. (in that age order). Albert, Robin and John Tailer Banks are all teachers, Greg Snelgar is a student.
The most likely hypothesis is that Snelgar is a left wing tosser, who once was centre-right but has changed in recent years. He was a student when he was in ACT, and students tend to have ardent views. As a student he was also involved in the risible sacking of academic Dr. Paul Buchanan.
A former student of Dr Buchanan, Glen Snelgar, said he got an “insensitive and abrasive” email from the lecturer in 2005 when he was honours student.
Mr Snelgar said it was a response to an email he sent Dr Buchanan asking for notes because he was unable to attend the first day of a military politics course due to work commitments.
He said the lecturer told him he was not a suitable student if he could not make it to the first class and suggested he should drop the paper.
Second possibility – Snelgar is a left wing plant who has been an ACT candidate to find out what ACT are up to. He has now been reactivated by his Labour mates to split the Banks vote. It seems very odd that a family of teachers would breed an ACT candidate, does it not?
As the old Latin adage goes, cui bono, who benefits?
Len Brown benefits. It is up to Len Brown to now deny any link with his flailing campaign.
One does have to wonder as to why those at Stuff didn’t deem a frontpage article about attempted electoral fraud that benefits Len Brown as worthy of inclusion online. Perhaps they didn’t want the blogs getting hold of it and drawing such a conclusion. That only makes the story more interesting, so a big fat fail there from the weasels at Stuff.
