Now he is up to politician of the month

Bill English seems to discovered redemption. Perhaps he should have a quiet word to Pedobear Power about him mending his ways.

Finance Minister Bill English has warned public servants that more belt-tightening and job losses are on the way and they cannot “wait out” the current round of cost cutting.

Surpluses of at least 2 per cent of gross domestic product would be needed before public spending could be significantly increased, and that could be many years away.

“That … may not occur in the professional lives of a large group of middle to senior civil servants,” he said in a speech in Melbourne to the Australia-New Zealand School of Government.

“It’s not an option for the public service to wait out these challenges. Hope is not a strategy.”

The pity of all this is that he has a knee jerk negative reaction to anything Don Brash says, which holds New Zealand back as a country as Don actually understands the economy and how to go about growing it.
