The blame Banksie for Len's idea game

Another Double Standard from… guess where?

The panicky and desperate paid lap-bloggers and liars at The Standard have decided to lash out at John Banks and C&R over Auckland City’s underwrite of Eden Park.

Says Lynne Prentice:

Underwriting a white elephant like Eden Park seems like the daftest thing that that John Banks and the irresponsible C&R team have done to date.

Yet it turns out that the underwrite was actually demanded by Len Brown!

Here’s an excerpt of what the rapper cum slapper said:

“I call on Auckland’s civic leaders to support Eden Park and the World Cup. It is time to cut through the logjams which are occurring and ensure that this city has in place the infrastructure needed to be a superb host to the world’s third largest sporting event.”

What hypocrisy from The Double Standard – bagging Banks for the very thing that their flaky idiot has been calling for!

Worse Len Brown hasn’t stumped any cash from his council, and has effectively levied Auckland City ratepayers with his call. Front with the cash Len, make good on your call back in February. I’m not holding my breathe, the man can’t even follow simple council disclosure rules regarding spending, how can we expect him to honour his own demands. It is typical of Brown though, always wanting someone else to pick up the bill for his spending.

Perhaps we should start looking at the cosy little arrangement between the TelstraClear pacific events centre, its staffing of Len’s campaign team and the discounted billboards feature the wasteful Mayor bordering the motorway. A good look at the advertising arrangements and sign production entities is worth a crack too. Perhaps Len would like to be up-front about the cloak he has thrown over his backers. Fat Chance.
