Whaleoil policy on Michael Cullen

As part of my series releasing policy platforms I would like to announce my policy on Michael Cullen.

Rather than putting him in jail for fiscal crimes against New Zealand including PREFU lies, the Kiwirail purchase and the Retail Deposits Guarantee, he is to be sentenced to chair Kiwirail for the rest of his natural life without any further government subsidies.

Sounds good to me. I’d add another condition to this – that to show his support of the rail network, that he be compelled to live in Paraparaumu or Upper Hutt and catch the train to and from work each day. Catching it “from” work would assume that he actually gets there in the first place. This condition should impose a good level of additional punishment on him.

Whale, we need to incentivise politicians properly, achieving alignment with the interests of taxpayers. It seems to me that politicians should be required to declare whether they support state ownership of each and every asset owned by the state. Those that support it should have their superannuation fund invested in these assets through a Trust arrangement. Thus Michael Cullen would have his super in the railways, or do you think his purchase would not have happened under such a scheme? Similarly, Jim Anderton would have a large chunk of his super invested in the non-dividend paying Kiwibank.
