Another day, another leaked email

I have obtained another email, this time from Iain Taylor, the Chair of the Auckland Primary Principals Association. This email shows clearly that the APPA along with Perry Rush have been orchestrating the so called BoT boycott of National Standards, essentially behind the BoT’s backs.

This email sent out earlier, sometime in September directly contradicts the emails that I leaked yesterday between Iain Taylor and a parent.

What is becoming totally clear is that the BoT’s in many of the schools that are part of the boycott have been hoodwinked by the principals.

My understanding from many emails that I have received is that there is now a revolt on against the principals and their actions and many urgent, extraordinary board meetings are being called to reverse the boycott. As early as next week we should start seeing announcements that schools previously listed as supporting the boycott by APPA and Perry Rush are actually in support of National Standards and they do not the support the actions of the APPA, the NZEI or NZPF.

Parents are seething and the Principals and teachers are going to cop it.

Well I don’t know about anyone else but getting a letter like that with the friendly “Keep smiling and be positive” bit at the end (in green even with a ! too!) would be so extra special I would probably burst it would be so special.

Goodness. What a wonderful man Iain must be.

Seriously, I hope you’re right Cam. I really really hope the parents and the boards withdraw and leave these commie wankers high and dry holding themselves. Fuck em. It’s so unprofessional.

The amendments to the existing assessment regime that Tolley requires are minor, and their issue of the league tables is the only thing driving it. Everything else they say about it is a mere smokescreen for the useful idiots.

Unfortunately for them, parents are not on their side, for there is no good argument against it. Not one. They are left with simplistic ideological denial which is transparent and which no thinking parent will accept or brush off because this is really important – it’s their beloved children’s education, after all.

Having said that Tolley has done a shocking job at selling it. She clearly had no plan whatsoever for every time something’s happened it’s taken weeks if not days to see her react to it and she’s never been on the front foot with this, ever. I would have thought Key would have assigned Joyce to help her. Maybe he already has and they’re just waiting for this to play out. Certainly you can’t do anything now. You can’t fire them because of the potential contagion that would arise, at exam time. Best to wait this out, but for it to have happened in the first place, is where Tolley has let both herself and the side down, for it was a quite predictable risk to prepare for, had one done any planning before the policy was launched.

    Keep them coming Whale.

This is simply an anti government conspiracy and like the Hobbit fiasco it is going to back fire.

You can almost see the next announcement coming “It’s not a boycott…all we wanted to do was sit down and negotiate” Sounds all too familiar.

I remember Iain as a fresh faced 21 year old teacher at my intermediate school in Manurewa, he seemed like a nice bloke, but not so sure now. If I recall he was the youngest ever principal of a school at one stage. But I did remember something interesting, the prinicpal of my intermediate school which was Mr Taylor’s first teaching position was a bloke named Tom Brown, hmmm none other than the father of Len Brown, the labour party stooge..
