Key says No to Winston and sets election date

John Key has ruled out working with Winston Peters and at the same time has told the nation the day on which this years election will be held.

NZ First as a coalition party, saying he had reviewed his position over summer and saw no reason to change it.

“Nothing has changed since 2008,” Mr Key said.

“I’m about tomorrow. I’m not about yesterday.”

Great. A vote for Winston is a Vote for Phil Goff and for Labour along with a return to corruption. With John Key a No means No, unlike Winston who said No but really meant yes.

Winston Peters says No

Mr Key said the Rugby World Cup was the biggest event New Zealand had ever hosted and he didn’t want the opportunity to showcase the country being undermined by “me playing politics” with the election date.

Setting the election date now would allow the country to concentrate on the Rugby World Cup knowing the election would not be held until later in the year.

“I believe it is in the country’s best interests to know the date of the General Election early in election year,” he said.

“It creates certainty for New Zealanders and allows people to plan accordingly.”

Fantastic. This is long overdue, almost as good as having a set election date permanently.

Now I can plan my campaign to truth about Winston with some certainty along with planning around the Great Blogmobile Tour.

This is also good for the new left wing party, John Key has generously given them pretty much a whole year to see if they can get going.

I still think he ought to have called an election before the winter…then it doesn’t matter what happens with the Rugby. Key will piss in if the election was to be called for May.

  • arnie

Winston where’s our $158 000???? Pay up and I may or may not forgive you.

  • michaels

The left is looking just beautiful…….
Winston will demand to be PM….
Hone will demand to be deputy…
Sue will want a top job…..
Poor old Phil might get to the front bench…. but at least with his new hair do’s he’ll look okay.
Dunne will fold and go….. gimmie a job, any job, just let me in one more time…..
Jim will come back one more time to collect a leaders fee….
And those Ginga’s will be going “don’t forget the tree’s and get in as well.
    Stunning set up.
    Bring back Helen anyone?????

  • michaels

And Little Andrew will be out fast with the cap in hand and holding cake stalls.

  • excuseme

Good to see Key sticking to his principles and refusing to deal with the treacherous Peters. If you lie down with dogs, you’ll get up with fleas.

Winston peters is not the bogeyman. He is an old drunken narcissist.

Who give a flying fuck about him. We have a government who are attempting to dig us out of a World wide financial event and while not perfect, things are picking up.

We have a labour party at their weakest since 1975, probably worse actually.

For fucks sake there are too many panic merchants out there, not even the New Zealand voting public are stupid enough to have anything to do with Peters again. He is a real piece of shit ,completely toxic and history will verify this.

A bit of positivity please 2011 is going to be a great year, forget this loser. Onwards McDuff

The thing about Winston is despite being a superb politician his ego has gimped him for the past 10+ years. If he’d stayed with the National party he could have been PM by now, but he didn’t, then he went back in time and started preaching Muldoon era politics again and now he’s a joke.

  • mediatart

Enquireys have cleared Peters , so good luck with the muckraking. I think Peters may have a few cards up his sleeve, muck ready to throw at some National Mps. Maybe even Key himself ! Its then becomes justified to fling some back.

Anyway Whale what happened to the ‘tender watch’ you used to run. Good fun to see how National was wasting money. Have you been warned off ? Corrections seemed to be amoungst the biggest wasters. But a cone of silence has descended!

    • hagues

What enquires cleared him? He was censured by Parliament for “knowingly providing false or misleading information on a return of pecuniary interests” He lost all credibility with his “No” charade which was shown to be a bunch of lies.

      • mediatart

        Yeah right, censured !
yet our Finanace Minister knowingly got the government to pay him to live in his own home, but since he got the wrong trust lawyer it was all OK, his boss then changed the payout to be no questions asked.
It all depends on who you get to do an ‘inquiry’
The Wongs must laughing all the way to lifetime subsidised tax payer travel

Not a single enquiry has ever cleared Winston. Labour died in a ditch for him at the Privileges Committee and saved him. He lied to the committee, he lied to New Zealand and he still owes us $158,000. Even Labour were shamed into repaying their stolen loot.

Nice to see that Labour will still die in the ditch for Winston.

        Mediatart

          • mediatart

BTW, you wouldnt be writing anything and blogs wouldnt exist without computer programmers

    • michaels

Mediaslut you are a true and utter fucktard.
Is ya mate Harp-on still around??

  • kevin

That will have taken Phil by surprise, his strategy team will be working overtime now.

  • whafe

mediatart – you speak of muckraking like it has never occurred within the den of the Pinko’s!

Winney Pete is like a cat with 9 lives that just will not fuck off. Am sure he will not take the hint at the upcoming election…

It is great to see some forward momentum at pulling this country out of the deep steamy brown stuff, naturally not quick enough, I am impatient, but we are moving forward…..

Easy though, if we want to be pulled back into the steamy brown stuff, vote for the pinko’s, am feeling confident that not even many die hard pinko’s believe Goofy Goff can get them out of the steam stuff

  • abjv

My expectation is that Winnie will run a 3-prong campaign:
    Repeal the anti-smacking bill
    A re-run of Iwi/kiwi anchored on foreshore/seabed
Not selling land and assets to foreigners under any circumstances

[I'm trying to imagine a Govt cobbled together containing Phil, Winnie's lot, the Greens, Hone+Sue Bradford...] And don’t mention racing, scampi, “pay it back”, “no means something else”…

  • michaels

what’s happened to the karma’s Whale? Did I miss something??

    • http://whaleoil.gotcha.co.nz Whaleoil

I removed the plugin, it was causing problems, and slowing down the site. Plus it was hiding foolish comments from resident pinkos, much better i think see their stupidity in all its glory.

  • lulu

mediatart you are such a dreamer

“I think Peters may have a few cards up his sleeve, muck ready to throw at some National Mps. Maybe even Key himself !”

Well I think Peters doesn’t have any cards up his sleeve and doesn’t have muck ready to thorw at some national MPs and nothing to throw at Key that will stick. They probably have more on him than he has on them.

Tell us you actually know something and your comment isn’t just ignorant wishful thinking. If it is the latter why don’t you just fuck off?

    • whafe

lulu – I think mediaart is Mallard in drag……………..
