More Mates

Owen Glenn is a mate:

Kiwi entrepreneur and philanthropist Owen Glenn has donated $1 million to the Christchurch quake recovery fund.

Mr Glenn said today he was motivated to give because he was a New Zealander and he wanted to help in some small way.

“I grew up in New Zealand, it holds a special place in my heart and to see such devastation, such hurt and such loss makes you want to help,” he said from London.

“This donation is something I can do and I strongly urge other expatriate business people to do the same. We all need to pull together and while we are a small country, it is a country made up of people with huge hearts. That’s what gets you through in times like this.”

Israel are Mates:

Israel to send New Zealand emergency equipment, temporary shelters
Prime Minister Netanyahu responds to Wellington’s request for aid to cope with the devastation in Christchurch wrought by Tuesday’s earthquake.

New Zealand’s government requested aid from Israel in the form of sanitation, water purification equipment and temporary shelters, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office said on Saturday night, after a massive earthquake struck the city of Christchurch on Tuesday.

Netanyahu gave instructions to immediately answer the call for help.

We know who our mates are and we know who aren’t our mates. I will keep listing who they are.

Good stuff! Nice to hear that Israel are helping out – good on them!
Gee…. now where is the help from the *Islamic* countries that Minto and co love so much? Nowhere to be seen.
Indonesia? Haven’t seen any help from them yet. We sure as hell helped them after the tsunami in Dec 2004. How interesting that they don’t seem keen to help an “infidel” country.

I hear Thailand are sending a DVI team out. After the 2004 tsunami I was impressed with Thailand as they were the only country in the region that were prepared to make an effort to identify the victims. NZ Police sent a team over as part of the international effort for such a mammoth task. So thanking Thailand for stepping up and repaying the favour.

Let’s ask Minto and Locke to visit their scumbag idol countries to collect aid for CHCH. Asking Gaddaffi at present would be interesting.

    At Kiwiblog, KevinH noted that:

“This morning on NewstalkZB, Leighton Smith declared to all and sundry that he is not donating any money to the Christchurch relief fund, “keeping his wallet firmly shut” because he was concerned at how the funds would be spent.”

Leighton seems no Mate. Perhaps people should consider tuning to other stations instead of NewstalkZB.

Why am I not surprised Leighton is a cunt?
I thought it was against the law to listen to NewswhingeZB unless you were over 65.

Owen Glenn is a Great Mate. Especially since he put up with so much crap from Clarkula – he owes NZ nothing. Yet is so generous. I agree with Cactus Kate
