Labour Pwnd Hard

Labour got ambushed hard  today at the end of General Debate.

After Grant Robertson finished his filibuster on the Royal Society bill, Heather Roy stood up and move that it be reported back to the house which cleared the way for the VSM bill to be debated again.

The Labour C Team put up a feeble defense easily batted away by Eric Roy and then by Lockwood Smith, with Trevor Mallard attempting tp come top the resuce and he got schooled too. Very inept of Mallard.

Labour has clearly been ambushed and out-foxed by being too clever.

This is one of the best ever parliamentary ambushes in memory.

Trevor Mallard is ineptly aruging futile points of order that the majority of parliament are wrong. Give up Duck, you got PWND!

UPDATE: The inept Trevor Mallard is whining like a baby in the house, but they have lost and now the VSM Bill is back in the house. Labour got ambushed and it was exceptionally well executed. Labour only have themselves to blame for this.

UPDATE 2: The inept Trevor Mallard was busy writing a blog post when the ambush was executed. Ironically it was his play of the day. I think this will now be the play of the day.

Is there a you tube or similar of the ambush? Would love to watch that.

    Not so .
English has confirmed we allready have a capital gains tax!

    Priceless.

Cant see Key waltzing around that one since has said it too

What the f**k are you talking about tart? Of course we have a tax if you buy & sell goods with the prime intent of making a profit. What we don’t have is an unworkable mishmash on which we still have to get the final details from an ‘expert panel’ comprising of the usual Liabore appointees – union leaders,
second rate academics and anyone else to whom Liabore owes a place a the trough.

What you haven’t mentioned is the political dicking handed out today and the ultimate end of the line for student unions (oops sorry – associations).

Huh? If you buy something with the intent of making a capital gain, then the profit is taxable under present law. Admittedly IRD have been too lax in policing it. Many of the reverse-geared property investment schemes don’t stack up financially without the capital gain element present. IRD could have been chasing these a lot more actively than it had been.

But as for Phil’s tax not affecting most people…? Bet Labour isn’t going to tell anyone in a kiwisaver scheme, or who is running a small builders or plumbers business from a home office, does a bit of keyboard entry or book-keeping from home, or a bit of home-based child care, exactly what Phil’s tax means to them in terms of thier ‘home office’ deductions.

Bill English is right. The only way to do a capital gains tax is to base it on gains in excess of CPI, set it at a low rate, and put it on absolutely everything. If all you want to do is penalise the ‘greedies’ then beef up the IRD enforcement arm for the preesent rules.

That video was beautiful I loved Finlayson’s waving the book in the background. That was just great.

Aw, their hatchlings are about to be destwoyed thwough evil market forces!@

    Crikey.

    Da da duh.

No more can their young live and bweath the air of Liarbore’s making. Compulsion that doesn’t apply to you on the contrary, gives you life blood from which you learn to suckle till you’re hopelessly addicted to the sheer symmetry with you, yes you, at the vewy top of the pywamid. And no more, cause now people don’t have to, anymore.

It’s not fair. How can they learn our ways, if we can’t teach them when they’re young. If they don’t get that, how the hell do you think we’ll ever get any decent wecwuits?

    Oh dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#$%@^&(()!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
