Bet he isn’t laughing now

The Comedian who got off without a conviction because “he makes people laugh” is having his sentence reviewed by the high court.

Christine Rankin sums it up nicely:

Christine Rankin, a family commissioner, but speaking as a child advocate separate from her official position said the comedian may have been given credit for making people laugh, but the court’s decision to allow him to walk free without even a conviction “made people cry”.

Meanwhile I remain convicted for publishing his name, and some say I make people laugh too.

Good.  It was f**king ridiculous that this guy got off because he made people laugh.  Would a doctor have got off because “he made people feel better”? Probably not, so why should this guy be treated any differently?

The ammount of clues realeased by the courts, it is so easy to guess who it is, and a quick google search of some key words confirms it. Name suppression does not work, it would be better to surpress the nature of the crime and all information that could identify the victim. Does anyone still not known who it is?

I never thought he was particularly funny, at least not in a funny haha way.

Everybody who knows him knows what happened.  And people who know of him know what happened.  So now the name suppression is really just in place to keep the people who don’t know him or don’t know of him from knowing.

    Well done.
