Doomed

There is a whole heap of hurt in this article. The poor guy was doomed, his girlfriend’s name was danger enough but when they picked the name for the kid that sealed his fate.

Zekaiya Biddle has the eyes and chin of a father she will never meet.

Hugh Biddle, 17, was buried in a landslide at his Ohope Beach home, leaving behind his pregnant girlfriend Cherize Kutia, 16.

After a 12-hour labour, Cherize gave birth to a 3.8kg baby girl 10 days ago, 103 days after Hugh’s death.

They chose the name together, and Cherize says she sees her late boyfriend every time she looks into her daughter’s eyes.

I read the article and thought how sad it was this boy was taken before his time by a tragedy not of his making.  They both seemed like nice kids – teenage parents to be etc.  He took responsibility for his unborn and it seems clear they loved each other deeply and had a sense of responsibility for their child.

What the girl was named was her name – it belonged to her and probably, no one should have the right to stand in judgement on it.  What they jointly or the mother alone, chose to name the babe is also no ones business but theirs.  The unfortunate thing is that their tragedy is now publicised for all and sundry to comment on and use to their own ends.

I for one, would like to embrace the possible truth that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made…” regardless of what we are named or others may think of that name.

I just thought they were nice kids Cam.  He seemed like a nice young lad (as far as one can tell without any inside story etc) and the story in the Herald was a sad yet encouraging one all at the same time.  I tried the links you gave me … i have to admit that i still dont understand.

I still dont see it Cam.  I dont know how any strong link can be made between a choice of a name and behaviours.  Its in the same league as horoscopes perhaps to claim so.  Accepted though – that may be some peoples viewpoint.

I still think they seemed like really nice kids.  How can their names doom them.  That doesnt seem right to me.

            Read the fucking book!

          • diabolos

On a purely human level Cam – i still dont see it and i doubt i ever will.

What book – i got a link and then another one.  I read through the links.

Im not being a smart ass and i am sincerely attempting to understand your point of view but i’m still missing it.

There is a journalist on TV named Semiramis Holland … Semiramis (the historical personage) was credited with the dubious honour of castrating youths.

Those two kids and their newborn are people – living and breathing.  They are real people with throughts and feelings and a future – albeit one was cut off by a landslide (not caused by his name or anyone elses – and not his fault either).

So how are they doomed by names.

ok so i think I have to buy or access a book then .. but what do you think Cam – why are they doomed by their names .. im interested to know your viewpoint in detail.

I genuinely want to know why they are doomed by their names?

            I still dont understand this?

I appreciate your replies to me and i am not attempting to achieve anything more than a clear understanding.

Only a pinko leftard FUCKWIT like you, diabolos, could fail to understand what WO is getting at. A short summary for you (as you’re incapable of understanding anything lengthy) –
    * Names are important.  People identify with their names. If they are given an unusual or stupid name (say, like “diabolos”),  then they will very likely be picked on and teased at school (for years on end), and this is very likely to cause a lot of pain and resentment. This is likely to manifest itself in self-destructive behaviour, crime or both.
Now, I’m sure that there are instances where a person with an unusual name does manage to make it through life.  The odds though are not great.
Now FUCK OFF back to Red Alert and stop hanging around here like the stink after one of Horomia’s shits.

It seems to me that SFNS is a (sub)cultural thing. Hard working people name their children after people they respect in the hope that their offspring will contribute to society as they did. Tossers name their children after or like reality TV “stars” because they are uneek or some bullshit. I named my children after Kings of England.

Best of luck to the young Girl and her daughter . It’s an interesting debate . I see the farthers name was Hugh fairly stock standard . In Hamilton and say West Auckland there will be more Zanes Dwaynes / Dions /Waynes or Wayno’s than say Remuera where the names are more likely to be traditional anglo saxon fair Charles /Jeremy , Jonathon etc. they are more likely to have double barrel names too . The Wallabies are an example of stock  based from  the Rah Rah crowds of Sydney and Brisbane, they will  tend to always have a double barreller . The current Rah Rah’s are Adam Ashley -Copper and Berrick Barnes. Rah Rah’s are the opposite of the moon beam mob they will tend to box well above their weight, they will also often be promoted beyond their abiliity. (See Wallaby front row)
Deans is a good fit for the Rah Rahs having come from the oldest family in Canterbury he relates well.
Go hard next week graeme and the boys wipe that smug dingo deans nose in it
But don’t underestimate the power of the born to rule Rah Rah.
