Email from Rob Fyfe to Phil Goff

Air New Zealand and Rob Fyfe aren’t happy. I received this email via the tipline.

Rob Fyfe has sent an email to all staff and included a copy of his letter to Phil Goff about Labour’s use of Air New Zealand’s branding in their ads.

      oh how you forget. Helen Clark made illegal comments about the stability of Air NZ, comments that drew the beady eye of the regulators. She told Mum and Dad investors and indeed used that term, not to sell their shares just yet. Then she refused to allow a deal with Singapore Airlines and also refused a merger with Qantas and Air NZ ran out of cash, with all possible buyers burned off by her rudeness the government had to bail it out.

      Which makes Phil goff’s comments that you can’t buy them back stupid because Helen Clark bought back Air NZ and Tranzrail.

    Whale oil you are one valuable asset to everyone BUT Labour – love that you have friends in many places!

    What a great tip & as Spiker above ^ has said….”another day, another Labour screw up”. 

    Not only are they just complete morons, but they have managed to piss off well-known and highly regarded New Zealanders…..along with losing any chance of getting votes from the likes of Air NZ employees who read this email. As if anyone would ever vote for them after reading that – who on earth would want people who seem to have a knack for acquiring and retaining egg on their face in government!

    I can’t help but think Rob Fyfe is being a bit precious – especially with the “ASS” bit.

    But then, when has Rob Fyfe ever run away from an attention opportunity?

    And he does have a point about the value of that brand I suppose. Wouldn’t want the Koru to be muddled with the Labour brand…..

    What i find funny is that there are 11000 workers at Air NZ. About 90-80% are earning around the average wage. That means Labour has pissed off around +2% of voters

    Not so . A check of the 2011 Annual report -last page- gives about 2500 employees earning more than $100,000.  ie  25% ( most are aircrew and technical)
    My guess that 50% earn more than $75,000
