Labour’s cheap hooker policy?

The Standard were trying with a some photoshops to be funny, and posted this photo of Lesley Soper.

I’m not sure, but from here it looks like Labour has a policy for cheap hookers…$15 a ho…seems pretty reasonable to me from a prospective customer’s point of view but I’m not sure the ho’s will be keen on working for just above the minimum wage.

Bonus though, Eric Roy doesn’t have a gay ute like Craig Foss.

      Where is your sense of humour? Labour photo shopped the photo to make fun of National but scored an own goal by not noticing what was behind their candidate.
      It’s just a bit of harmless fun. They said National is blighting the future, WO simply pointed out what their sign appeared to say.

    All this $15 an hour stuff, the support for VSM. This has nothing to do with winning an election – most voters couldn’t care less about that nonsense. It’s about maintaining the loyalty of their base, the ultra-poor and the unions. Without them Labour goes the way of NZ First.

    $15 an hour minimum wage? What sort of dreamworld is this political party in? I agree, $15 or even a $18 an hour minimum wage would fantastic and would probably help balance out the soaring cost of living over the past year or two. But who can afford to pay that? Do they care or understand that thousands of people would either lose their jobs or fail to get one in the first place?

    What about the people currently on the rung above minimum wage, say on $15-17 an hour. These people may have put in the hard yards already and will in turn demand and expect an extra couple of bucks an hour. Then there’s the increasing costs of everything to compensate for the increased wage costs.

    The NZ Labour Party are like Neanderthal Man or the game of rugby league – they’re a dead end. I’d be embarrassed to be associated with them.

    I would really like to see someone run the numbers on the viability of re-introducing a youth wage with an age/full time study restriction that would see someone on a youth wage pay no income tax. The benefits would be that employers would pay a lesser rate to youth (paying a straight wage with no income tax deductions), giving a financial incentive to hire someone with little or no experience, and yet still allow the person the opportunity to earn useful money and gain workplace skills before the reach an age where they have to be able to provide immediate value to an employer. As a trade off I would also make the unemployment benefit unavailable to people able to work for the youth rate, helping to offset the loss in income tax.
