Maryan gives up on Nelson

The Nelson Mail on Saturday reported Maryan Street saying:

“She admits that her primary focus is on securing party votes for Labour, and that the party’s dream of knocking Dr Smith out of the electorate is “much longer term”.

So while she says “I’m serious about wanting to be the MP for Nelson”, she admits in the next breath ”I don’t know what my chances are”.

I’ll tell you what her chances are…they’re hopeless…Nick Smith will slay her, again.

Nelsonians are a strange lot. They vote for the person first rather than the party. Being a small town if your an a****hole it gets around town. From an old ex-Nelsonian.

Maryann may have only just given up on Nelson. But Nelson gave up on Maryan long ago…

Long ago Inv 2? She only decided to go there in 2008 when “Mr” Street decided it would be a nice place to live (which it is) and commute (courtesy of taxpayer) to her Wellington job and have taxpayer funded acommodation while they Live in taxpayer funded wedded bliss from Monday to Friday

I seem to recall that both NBR & WO were investigating what share of the Streets’
living & travel expenses were being paid for by the taxpayer. I am not too sure whether there was any outcome.

“Nelsonians are a strange lot. They vote for the person first rather than the party.”
Well from a non Nelsonian (Kiwi who has only lived in Nelson for 10 years so cannot be a “Nelsonian” for another 35 years) in answer to that it has been proven time again that Nick Smith is a ‘strange one’ also in that he puts Nelson before his party. I have had cause to write to Nick about problems and while he may not have given me the result I wanted he has always acted fast and professionally to assist as an electorate MP should.

With Nick it is apparent you are voting for Nick. With Maryan it seems to be her ‘gang’ you are voting for.

    • Geoff

If Nick keeps the people as his first focus then the seat is his for as long as he cares.
Also you have to be born there to be one(sorry for the bad news)

Nick has been in Nelson not quite 20 years but he might get some points being a South Islander

       Nick
should be congratulated on how he has worked his guts out for Nelson and
      Tasman.

Although he has turned out to be a bit more
of socialist then what I had hoped.

And  he is a warmist   Now that is a worryJ  Still it also makes Nick the right man for
      Nelson.

As if there ever was a reason to ditch MMP this is it.  A list MMP with no real intention of serving constituents, simply living in a sunny locale, commuting to work on the taxpyers expense, and achieving absolutely nothing except earning the perks of a polly who has spent years doing nowt.

One of the failing of our electoral
    system  is MPs  like  Street.

Who made a pigs ear out of ACC .  Are not held to account .

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/4658520/Minister-ACC-corruption-case-not-over

ACC’s former national property manager has
admitted he took a bribe worth $160,000, was given a $9000 Singapore holiday
    and corruptly disclosed information.

Malcolm David Mason, 50, of Miramar, this morning pleaded guilty
to three charges of corruption and bribery charges at Wellington District
    Court.

ACC’s purchase of Fashion Island questioned

    The
financially-troubled ACC bought Nelson’s Fashion Island shopping centre less
than two months ago for $22.7 million.

    Nelson MP and ACC
Minister Nick Smith on Friday said he didn’t know about the purchase, and hoped
to review the agency’s investment strategy, having heard “very concerning
reports” that it was losing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

    A ministerial
inquiry was ordered this week following revelations that ACC is facing a
shortfall in its non-earners account of $1.2 billion over four years.

    The 28-store Nelson
Fashion Island complex has had its fair share of problems, opening later than
expected just prior to Christmas last year, never being fully tenanted and
having two local businesses close during the first eight months.

    The centre has a
    registered valuation of $16.1 million.

The bulk of the Western Top of the South is poorly served by its representatives:
Smith: global carbon taxation nutter who really doesn’t give a crap about the regions economy. If he did he would stop the additional carbon taxes and the use of the greater region as an aid project for NZ with thousands of Pacific Island workers coming in every year. Pleased they get the crops off as NZders too lazy but they also remove millions of dollars from the economy.
Street: Parachutes in as part of the thanks from the Labour gays. Manipulates MP spend to have its wife fly back to Wellington to study…..she represents stuff all!
On the other side of the Tasman Bay:
Some ex-pom ghost from south of hokitika, less than useful with photoshopped pics and unknown.
O’Connor: a slice of reality with his gaggle of gays comments on his own party however because of his honesty hes had is water cut off.
TOTS (Top of the South) represented …………..not!
