Allan Peachey RIP

I heard late yesterday that Allan Peachey had died, the NZ Herald reports his death this morning.

National MP for Tamaki Allan Peachey has died.

Mr Peachey had been fighting illness for some time and it was confirmed this morning that he had died.

He had announced his retirement from politics last month because he did not think he would have been healthy enough to complete another three-year parliamentary term.

Mr Peachey was 61 years old.

My thoughts and prayers go out tot he family.

You were onto it Cameron, you predicted he would die in office.  But at that time you were assuming it would be in the newly elected parliament, not the current parliament.  What a disappointment that he was robbed of a rewarding retirement.  Condolences to all that knew and loved him.

Yes Phil Raffills and Allan Peachey were two-of-a kind.  Controversial and  uncompromising in their opinions – took no prisoners.

NZ has lost a great educationalist. What a shame that his illness prevented what could have been a great contribution to our education system. He took on the role as principal of Rangitoto College and contributed immensely towards the further development of a school that had already become one of NZ’s finest colleges. An absolute tragedy given the state of our education system.

I am very proud to be a Rangi old boy.
