Goff Lies, Ctd

Phil Goff decided to make this election campaign about lies. His definition of a lie is saying one thing earlier and then despite circumstances changing saying another thing later.

Back in April David Cunliffe says Labour has already got all their promises costed…he even says he has a spreadsheet prepared.

Full Audio Interview: Labour has already got all their promises costed

Fully Costed snip: Fully costed?

But yesterday Phil Goff said

“We’re just completing them now as we’ve finalised the last of our policies.”

Was someone lying?

So they promise something, then cost it? Dodgy Much?

  • Michael Savage

    Another lie from Cameron.

Labour did have the costings done.  They have said however that the costings would be reviewed once the PREFU was announced to make sure that the costings were relevant.  The Prefu came out less than two weeks ago and various people have been beavering away trying to ensure that the costings are still accurate.

Once released people will be able to see that the costings are solid and consistent, unlike National’s.  If you want to see a good critique of the issue Rob Salmond’s post at http://www.pundit.co.nz/content/how-big-is-the-hole-in-key%E2%80%99s-%E2%80%9C17b-hole%E2%80%9D is worth a read.

Missing the point, Michael. Goff clearly suffered humiliation when he appeared unprepared and incompetent on the subject during the public debate, i.e. the damage is done. Whether the costing had been done or was being prepared is irrelevant now.

I agree with Cameron, Goff has changed his stories too many times. Since Goff established a new benchmark for a liar during the first televised debate he well qualifies to be the one.

Wow, the right are reallllly pushing it if this is the best dirt they have.

Your comment is so pointless it’s astounding.
Think your interpretation of the current (and long-standing) situation is way wrong – the Nat’s don’t need to be pushing anything, or dishing dirt on anything – they are totally dominating in any poll you look at – even the skewed lefty ones.  Labour are doing a good enough job of making themselves look stupid – especially when their leader is not up to speed with the economic policies he is pushing, in a climate where everyone’s concern IS the economy.  Greenmuppet is right – the damage is done. Can hardly be seen as dishing dirt – it’s discussion about actual (or lack of) detail regarding economic policy.  That’s not dirt – it’s facts, some assumptions and a heap of basic numbers.  It’s only when some of those basics are missing (ie the facts and numbers) that we all start wondering about where their policy is coming from.
I guess to some extent there is SOME truth in your comment – when it comes to dirt, National isn’t much of a dealer – Labour are the experts at looking for and creating dirt – shame it comes at the expense of real grown up politics, when all we want to know is what parties have to offer, the logic behind their offerings, and why they are the better party to vote for.  Offerings and no logic so far… because today’s release from Labour really tells us sweet fuck all.

This isnt about dirt. As JK was told ad nauseum over his purported delays in getting resource to the wreck “it’s all about the perception”.  Unfortunately for Labour the public perception is that they are bumbling over matters fiscal.

    But yesterday Phil Goff said…

“We’re just completing them now as we’ve finalised the last of our policies.”Its worse than that the fuller quote is ”We have done those figures, we’re just completing them now as we’ve finalised the last of our policies.” We have done them… we’re just completing them now. Well what is it? Have you done them, or are you still completing them. Fuck the story changes mid-sentence.
