Holmes hands Nats the playbook

Paul Holmes wrote a short form playbook for smacking up Phil Goff. Why it has taken them this long to play some of them is beyond me:

When a Labour leader, who had been in Parliament at a senior level in the fourth Labour government in the 1980s, comes along in 2011 and condemns even a partial sale of state assets, the National leader should surely turn round and remind him that he sold the assets in the first place – and sold them so completely that New Zealanders no longer have control and have to endure the rapaciousness of privatised Telecom for 30 years.

When a Labour leader gets stuck into the government for our presence in Afghanistan, then a gentle reminder of who put our SAS in there needs to be forthcoming, surely.

…When Goff spoke of the nobility and wisdom of removing GST on fresh fruit and vegetables, he needed to be reminded that for more than 20 years he was one of the Labour group who said it wouldn’t work and would be too confusing.

When, as late as July this year, Labour were on the record as being opposed to any raising of the age of retirement, and when David Parker admitted on Q&A on Sunday morning that the movement of the superannuation age to 67 had been decided only a fortnight before, Key could have suggested the politics of desperation.

This is why Labour’s message isn’t resonating. People remember that Phil Goff was a staunch defender of the policies he now rails against.

    **Excellent stuff** from Paul Holmes!
I hope like hell that the Nat campaign people take note of his comments.  Labour are just **wide-open** for a good thumping with the hypocrisy stick, and Holmes has shown how to do it.

Certainly a shallow pool in the labour policy pond… desperate hypocrisy indeed.

Those of us who bother to know our NZ political history know this stuff, but the uninformed masses are always a worry…they are easy prey to the gutter politics of Labour.

And it has been annoying that the govt has taken some time to finally sock it to them - John Key should have been able to nail Goff in that first debate & he didn’t. Thankfully he kicked Goff’s ass in the second one.

Fingers crossed he continues on this way & constantly reminds NZers how incompetent & hypocritical Labour really is.

Remember too that Key said the SAS would be coming home in February… dont hold your breath on that being fulfilled.
I seem to remember that Labour bought the SAS back in 2005 or there aboutsKey only  sent them back to get his feet in the Oval Office, as the White House sent back his audition tape saying  Can Do Better

The SAS are Military Service Personnel that apply to become SAS.  Very few applicants get accepted.  These people obviously volunteered to join the Services in the first place.  NZ is contributing a small but talented team to an intrenational force fighting pure evil.  What is the problem with that.  I do not feel sorry for any SAS soldiers – I respect them and our country for being included in the fight.

Also, Labour asset sales policy is most closely aligned with Myamnar and North Korea.

You do keep good company don’t you ?

So why did Labour send the SAS over in 2001 in the first place then?  Different leader, same motives.

Didn’t do the UN job application any harm either.
