Labour is the Nasty Party, Ctd

via the tipline

Words fail me on the nastiness of this letter.

My correspondent emails:

A very ‘classy’ threat from Labour (see attached), it makes me wonder how do they get information about my child… and even if info is accessible, the use of it is rather inappropriate.

Inappropriate isn’t the word. Nasty is. So is creepy.

Holy Monkey. They really have nothing else but slurs, do they?

    • Anonymous

what a disgusting debacle this is turning into.  I had been wondering why all this shite but the lightbulb has gone on Bingo!   It is the thought of John Key and National actually getting the clear vote to govern on their own. They are sooo desperate to dis John key that it has gone feral!!    God I hope NZers know what is going on and vote accordingly

    • Sam

What do you expect from a party that still has the “Gaggle of Gays”, third rate university lecturers, 4th grade lawyers and failed teachers as its core.
Grant “Rainbow” Robertson would not have a clue about normal family life.

  • Dormant

Vote to keep families together? How many of their MPs are still on family 1 after leaving wife or husband for new partner?
This brings Labour well into the gutter. At first I thought it was an outbreak of SOCK re child abuse.

  • Mully

Actually, is that authorisation statement legal? Not on the same page as the spin/slander/bullshit

    • Anti NAtional

It’s not “slander” legally if it’s true. BTW in NZ we call it defamation, slander is a US legal term

  • BJ

Have they seriously used Nationals Log – isn’t that illegal?
Also they have told a blatant lie in saying you have to return to work when your baby turns one – not true – its only if you oldest has turned 14 isn’t it?
In the fine print on the page with baby it has been authorized by who?

    • Andijandal

If you have another child while receiving the DPB, you will have to seek work when that child is one.

  • Mark Williamsheridan

disgusting… and sad that Labour would stoop so low.

  • MrV

Where is the the privacy commisioner?

  • max_power

Well this is standard propaganda and while its a completely unethical usage of it it’s nevertheless standard techniques.

The key is to tie the message to an emotion. That’s what all advertising a.k.a. propaganda does. The more emotive the message the greater the effect since in most people most of the time, emotions drive opinion not the other way round.

National is appalling in its naivity with respect to this profession and it shows up all the time. By contrast the lefties are masters at it and are this way almost by instinct.

John Ansell is a rare conservative exception in this country and its a shame he’s not getting much airtime this election.

You want to know how good lefties are? Have a look at the arrangement of the letters in each of the heading words: “Liarbore will help families by” and see how each letter is carefully arranged and even coloured. Note especially the broken “H” in the help and the strong blue I in the former word which denote victimhood and saviour. That’s how good they are. They spent hours on that arrangement, because they know how the mind processes input.

    • BJ

The left is always about smoke and mirrors and downright deceit and very desperate creatures too – just look at their leader

  • http://keepingstock.blogspot.com/ Inventory2

That borders on obscene; how low will Labour stoop?

  • Anonymous

Are they aware that not all pregnant people (in fact the vast majority of them) are on a benefit? Clearly not.

  • Spam

Is that really a targeted photo of the reader’s child?

    • David

Really is that the ladies child they have put on there ?

      • Chaffnz

Judging by the later post I think she meant ‘how did they know I had a newborn’, probably not the actual photo.

  • Thorn

Beneficiaries who get pregnant – exactly the type of irresponsible skanks who depend on hardworking taxpayers to fund their worthless existence.

    • brad

mate, spoken like a true right wing facist nazi, you and this blog belong together

    • STK

Look mate, not everyone on a benefit are slackers, I use to work 40+ hours a week before my legs crapped out on me and now I (and my wife and baby) have to live on a sickness benefit that barely covers our expenses. Get off your high horse for goodness sake.
(Admittedly there are morons that sponge off the system, but it’s not everyone.)

      • Swaste

i would suggest that you are not the person i refer to under 18 single rather some one who needs help perhaps retrain good luck

  • Cadwallader

The Labour Party is a blocked sewer, useless and full of shit! This sort of garbage will continue until Saturday in public but forever in what passes for their collective brain! They disgust me.

  • thor42

My hope (and it would be a forlorn hope) is that the MSM pick this up.  Fat chance though, given that they’re slaves of the left.

  • thor42

You know how I interpreted this the first time that I read it?
“You won’t be around” came across as “you’ll be dead”.
I’m sure that will be how *many other* people interpret it too.
I think they will be so horrified and repulsed that this will end up being the “mother of own goals” by Labour.
I sure as hell hope so.

    • Justme

My instant reaction also plus horror. It’s actually quite twisted. Stinks of feminism.

  • Anonymous

Has anyone watched One News tonight – the tables have turned. For me the highlight was a photo of Goff under a sign that said clowns.

  • thor42

I encourage anyone who has received this pamphlet to lay a complaint with the Electoral Commission. ( I would do so myself, but I haven’t actually received it in my mail ).
The statement is FALSE – it is a blatant lie.
Even if you *were* working on the day that your child turned 1, **birthday parties are held in the evening** which is after work for almost everyone.

    • Anti National

Evening? seriously??? Because all 1 year old should be awake and full of energy in the evening? They’re generally held on the weekends, morning or early afternoon

    • Guest

Corrupt practice. Five years inside & the party deregistered.

Oh dear what a terrible fucking pity!

  • Ross

Labour have tried this sort of thing before – remember the letters to State House tenants saying National would turf them all out. It’s called energizing your base.

Sadly it is sick politics by sick people

  • thor42

I’ve sent in a complaint to Elections NZ.
( WO – hope this is ok – I sent them a link to the site here, and a copy of the pic with the “you won’t be around” statement on it. )
Here’s the guts of my email -
“This statement is not only utterly false (workers can always
celebrate their child’s birthdays in the evening, after work) – it
is offensive as well.  The first time that I saw this, I took the
meaning of “won’t be around” to mean that I would be dead, and I’m
sure that many others would interpret it the same way.

I therefore ask that you follow this up with the Labour Party,
and I would like them to issue a public apology for this
    pamphlet.

Thank you for your time. “

    • Elma Fudd

Thanks Thor.. both my wife and I read it as ” you will be dead” also. Having re-read it several times, I just cannot read it any other way.
I would encourage all bloggers to give this as much air as possible. Pardon the pun, but I think it will be a LP killer..

  • max_power

    sick politics by sick people

It takes a special kind of scum to dream up and implement ideas like both this and the Gweens sticker campaign, doesn’t it.

I just wonder where the fuck the people who do this get off, on desisting from interfering with OUR democracy.

It’s not THEIR democracy, it’s OURS.

Why don’t those arseholes, wankers and fuckfaces get that thru their thick skulls?

    Are they completely mental?

There is a boundary and the main opposition party in the country crossed it. They are completely mental. Let’s hope the polls next week really reflect the utter depth of their total crapulence.

    • Justme

Like I replied to Thor42, it stinks of feminism. Really don’t think this stuff comes from men. It targets females/young mothers; hard core feminists have twisted minds and their goals are to empower women, destroy men and destroy the male/female family unit. They know any other party won’t go there. They always cross boundaries.

    • Anonymous

Totally agree Max , this one has crossed the line  , hopefully next saturdays low result for them reflects the low opinion most of us now have for them.

  • Chris

Calling these ads nasty assumes the public are thick, empty vessels, are influenced by everything and anything and cannot think for themselves.  Why are they nasty? Is it because people will believe them?  If they’re so wrong then surely people will realise and the whole thing backfires on Labour?

    • Alex (not the Leftist twat)

It will backfire on them. The point is more that here is another instance of “below the belt” campaigning from Labour.  It’s not objectionable to ask for basic standards of decency to be observed.  The tragedy is that democracy is weakened by these tactics — people just switch off from the whole electoral process.  But the reality is that some people do believe these things.  Last election Labour were scaring the gullible with all sorts of terror stories about what would happen if National got in.  The result was that people were calling 111 and seeking counselling when National did win (this was reported in the press at the time).  For the last 15 years, Labour’s campaigning style has been one of vilification and denigration.  Surely there must be decent Labour people who can make this stop and bring about a real culture change, beginning with Mallard and Fenton’s immediate sacking.

  • First time caller

I can’t express how appalled I am by this brochure.
Please Herald and Dom… Redeem yourselves and publish this brochure, it’s a vile death threat and a curse if I don’t vote for them. Unbelievable cruelty.

  • Anonymous

This type of behaviour is lower than a snakes belly… Just way low and obscene….

  • Its da truth

But this is what National proposes? How is Labour doing something wrong by telling the truth?

    • Anonymous

Well NO, it isn’t the total truth… So you agree the way in which this has been sent to a fellow New Zealander?  If so, you are a very sick puppy

      • Rightoverlabour

No, not a sick puppy, just a typical labour supporter. Sick puppies eventually get better.  Arguing with labour supporters is a waste of time.

    • Elma Fudd

Labour… truth…pardon ?? Somehow I just can’t seem to see those two words as a pair.
I suspect that your head is in the sand, or perhaps somewhere else.

    • Anti National

Yeah but what’s important here is the wording – not the truth. This is how national supporters work (and National) Attack a word or a spelling mistake that will draw attention away from the facts. Phew lucky national supports are a pretty simple lot

      • Agent BallSack

Wipe your lips after saying that. National focusses on one part of something? LMFAO you left really are deluded.

  • Mike Readman

It’s even worse.  I know a National Party member who miscarried who received one of these letters.

    • max_power

I’m not surprised Mike and I suppose ACC prevents her from suing Liarbore over this predictably inevitable tragedy.

      Typical.

      • Chaffnz

Dude I may be wrong but I think he meant that the sender expected (scuse pun) her to be pregnant or have a youngun, I don’t think he meant it caused the miscarriage. Either way not a nice brochure at all.

  • Rightoverlabour

I have to agree with may of the posts here, I immediately associated the first line with death.  This would be highly insensitive to any family who may have lost a mother or father. I only hope that labour get truly trounced at the election. And these morons beat on about a cup of tea?? I have always maintained that Goff was a reasonable bloke (ineffective as a leader though) leading a bunch of misfits and angry unionists; if he authorised this, the last ounce of respect has gone…

    • Elma Fudd

I havn’t seen the actual flyer yet, but just maybe ( and hopefully ) it falls foul of the “authorisation” requirements, and it gets to bite them in the arse on the legal front as well. Can anyone elaborate ?

      • Callum

Looks ok, the authourisation looks like i sits right below where you open it so in theory would read it before seeing the contents inside.

    • Justme

Doubt Goff would authorise this. I think what we have here are underlings promoting their cause. Would like to see this pamphlet splashed all over TV news and all regional papers. It is truly disgusting.

  • Anonymous

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments expressed above.

But also, isn’t this just stupid politicking. Emblazening the National party logo on the first page simply advertises National to people who take one glance at leaflet then bin it. In fact, the National logo is associated with the little girl, which gives a positive, not negative message about National in the amount of time people generally spend looking at this sort of stuff that arrives in the mail box.

    • Sars

Maybe that’s the point? Assume that people won’t bother reading the whole thing and hope that they make a link between the National Party logo and the negative message.

But, in a rare absence of appropriate language, that first image scared the living fuck out of me. All creepy with sinister overtones. I heard that Labour were going to focus on (to paraphrase) ripping shreds and holes in National Party policy but jeez, whoring out some stock image of a wee kid to sell your message? Do you think any Labour party members would volunteer to put their kids on the these distasteful little fliers?

  • kehua

Wait till the pricks have a database with the names of every new born ala their baby registration ploicy.

  • Harold

How on earth will extending WFF to beneficiaries help families? It will further slave them to welfare and a life of no hopes and dreams further in my book.

    • thor42

Exactly right, Harold.  I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying about “giving a man a fish” versus “teaching him to fish.”  The first feeds him for a day, the second feeds him for life.  Labour are all about creating more dependent people in this country. I’m certain that it is deliberate. I’m also certain that the people who would receive such largesse (in the unlikely event of a Labour win) would not realise that it would NOT actually help them. It would shackle them to welfare for life.
That is how VENAL and CORRUPT Labour is.

      • Anti National

If you’re a true national supporter you should be using the line “Build a man a fire, keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire and keep him warm for life”

  • kevin

The top bit of the labour stupid flyer says…”Being a parent is stressful enough without wondering if you’ll lose your benefit”…

  • Mum

I’m so angry. I’ve never been on a benefit but I went back to work part-time around the time my baby was one – as do many mothers. This makes me out to be a bad mother, like going back to work is a terrible terrible thing. Pretty much everyone I know works at least part-time during the baby years. Are we all terrible? We just had my baby’s birthday on a Saturday.  Don’t Labour realise many women work now.

    • kevin

They know nothing, not even a family friendly party.

    • thor42

I agree with you, Mum.  Heck, *lots* of mothers go back to work (at least part-time) around the time of their baby’s first birthday.  It wouldn’t surprise me if you were in the *majority* now.
Labour will **never** change. They are incapable of it.
Completely unable to critically look at themselves and say “we screwed up there”.
After the election, there will be no “the message was wrong” from them.  Trust me – Labour will be saying “the message didn’t get through.” They will be blaming the voters.  Memo to Labour – “your messages have got through loud and clear.  They STINK, and so do you.”

    • Anonymous

Good on ya “mum”, thanks for sharing your comments. I, like most others absolutely respect working mums ( and dads) , getting back into the workforce keeping your career on track as well as bringing in a few extra bucks for your family.

Labour assumes all mothers are beneficiaries because most of their voters are, and sadly I don’t think they will ever learn.

Lots of respect for you here :)

  • Vegas

It appears the sisterhood is still alive and operating. It beggars belief that a political party could stoop this low.
And to think they have the right, if elected, to run our country.

  • Holeinthesky

Christ that is warped. Surely they’re losing more votes than they gain by being this evil?

  • Gazzaw

I wonder if the Herald will comment on this piece of nastiness tomorrow morning? Like fuck.

Have you sent it to Leighton Cam?

  • Catwoman

Clare Curran’s dirty little fingerprints are all over this.  She is Labour’s “expert” communicator.  Looks like Mallard’s dirty tricks “communicated” themselves to her during the time she spent screwing him.  Now she is screwing Labour!

    • max_power

      What a bitch.

    • MrV

That is one visual nobody needs.

  • Richard McGrath

Fuck this is vile. How low can people sink? Are we sure it’s not from someone trying to discredit Labour? We may never know.

  • Anonymous

This can’t be real. It would be such a major turning point in NZ politics. As far as branding goes, it doesn’t fit in with the rest of their marketing, so I’d be surprised if it was real. But scarily, on many levels, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is real.

    This is bizarre.

  • Brian Smaller

I have worked on most of my kid’s birthdays. Parties were usually on the weekends. Disgusting advert but it wil appeal to Labour voters. It is the type of feral thing they understand and respond to.

    • Agent BallSack

Yep as 2 working parents, our kids parties always fall on the weekend before or after the actual birthday. A nice family meal on the actual day and a kid friendly day for them.

I thought it was referring to death also.  Couldn’t see any of the rest without scrolling down and felt ill – seriously  (and it wasn’t even addressed to me, and my kids are older).  My first thought was that it was campaigning on cancer treatments or something – why else would you imply someone was going to die?

It would be even worse getting one in the post, addressed to you – like receiving a death threat.  Would you even open it to see the context?

    Scary.

  • Agent BallSack

Labour have to use Nationals logo on all their political releases now. That might get rather confusing for all the weak minded out there who will start believing a vote for National is a vote for Phil Goff. BTW I got the Chucky letter in the post Saturday, even my partner (National voter) who doesnt follow politics much said what about Phil Goff? How long has he been in parliament?

I bet quite a few uneducated are confused as to what side Phil is actually on now, considering if you ask people on the street, who is the leader of which party, a surprising number get it wrong.

  • Sooty

Nasty, but is the self apinionated MSM going to report on it. I believe they will be more interested in prolonging the teapot and enlarging their own big heads.

  • Peter

There are a lot of high and mighty people pontificating about what is fair and not fair – unfortunately most of these opinions are purely partisan.  The pamphlet is no worse or no better than a lot of political publications – and given that the National policy is aimed at harming this group why wouldn’t you target them if you were in opposition?

    • http://unsolicitedious.wordpress.com/ Unsolicitedious

      Provide examples please.

      • ArmedTory

        There aren’t any fucking example.

        Just the Labour anti-spin machine.

  • concerned

seriously? You think something is wrong with this. Have you looked recently at how much beneficiary bashing National have been doing?

    • http://unsolicitedious.wordpress.com/ Unsolicitedious

What beneficiary bashing? Asking people to take more responsibility for their own lives and their OWN CHILDREN is not beneficiary bashing.

Pointing out that many people on benefits are there because of bad choices – getting a mortgage based on maximum borrowing capacity, having multiple children you cannot afford, buying cigarettes, alcohol, lotto, TAB, getting sky subscriptions etc – is not beneficiary bashing.

If people hold their hand out for money EARNED by others then it is only fair accountability is demanded in return.

As far as I am concerned anyone receiving any kind of welfare – including WFF – that drinks, smokes, does drugs, buys lotto, has sky, enrolls their kids in judo, ballet, etc (excluding swimming – that is a must for any child) or goes on overseas holidays is a bludger and a thief.

      • Mum

I don’t care what they do – they’re still bludgers, theives, and frauds

And what’s worse – bludgers get to vote themselves more and more of my tax dollars

Labour literally take the food of my kid’s places and give it to underserving bludgers

        • Keinen

And you would rather these children starve to death?

      • Keinen

And then when 30% of the population is in poverty you would be saying why weren’t we taxed more to help them out?
Or would you be more concerned about buying your self some brand new clothing from expensive brand name stores, driving past the houses of poor, uneducated children listening to U2 thinking you are making a difference.
Good on you for caring about your self for once………………………….

      • Baz

Why not have it so those on a benefit can’t vote? That way, they can’t vote for parties that will help them to perpetuate their dependency by increasing welfare.

  • Used to be National Supporter

There are a lot of National supporters saying how “disgusting” this is and that it is just “typical Labour under-the-belt” tactics… but I’ve received similar things from National – like the “Labour Lies” flier. The funny thing is, John Key has been caught out lying to the NZ public a significant amount more than Phil Goff during this election. Good to see he has a committed posse backing him though

    • http://unsolicitedious.wordpress.com/ Unsolicitedious

Ok you want to play that game then please list and substantiate all the lies you think Key.

Please also provide examples of Key and his cabinet resorting to the kind of gutter politics we have seen from Labour in this election.

  • selfishness kills.

I think Labour has a point.. It is not threatening at all, Typical right wing leaders and supporters in their attempt to convey an appearance of political correctness will obviously take a negative stance towards this.

would you rather your wife, aunt or sister had to work on her daughters first birthday to cover the bills? or should she be able to spend time with her child on their first birthday? this is a first world country isn’t it? I think that is more the message Labour is conveying here.

And to those requesting proof that john key does in fact lie… here you go
    http://www.labour.org.nz/news/john-key-admits-to-lying

    • Agent BallSack

A tenuous link to a Labour website does not a pudding make. As for your comments, I worked on my daughters first birthday, to pay for it. Whats the difference?

      • Keinen

Whats the difference between?? you spending time with your daughter on her first birthday and your wife/her mother? there is none, were you on minimum wage? was your employer to stingy to down size his profits a little so you could take a paid day off to spend with your daughter? did you even ask?

How can you support a leader who refuses to even talk to a lower class family about the issues they face, refuses to incentive’s healthy eating by removing gst from fruit and vegetables.

A leader should not be putting business before people, especially when that business benefits the top 20% of earners and leaves the other 80% no better off than they were before johnny photo op was in power.

        • Agent BallSack

How is Labours policy regarding raising the minimum wage going to help small businesses in NZ? At least National has tangible, worked out policy not ‘the figures are yet to be worked out’. Why does National appeal to the average small business man who will not see any of the so called 20%?
Policy on Crime, Policy on long term unemployed, Policy on Welfarism, a viable economy strategy, all these things. Sure Goff talks to the ne’er do wells but all he promises is more money for doing nothing, dont worry its the nasty worlds fault you’re lazy, unemployable, full face tattooed have some money and it will all go away.

          • Keinen

There are no studies that show small businesses cant afford to pay $15 an hour. We live in a capitalist, democratic society that is meant to up hold the values of utilitarianism. if people cant get by on $12.75 an hour something needs to be done about it. i was going to say comfortably but there is no comfort in $12.75 an hour.

Furthermore, how is a low wage, and a lack of jobs any incentive to get off the dole. Removing people from the dole with no work available is no way to fix anything. its just a faster way if putting MORE families in poverty. and this doesn’t benefit anyone! except maybe that top 20%

How can Goff work out the figures when the government that controls them wont release them.. He can only go on what treasury tells him, not the minister of finance..

And FYI it may surprise you how important the lower earners are. A low class cleaner is more valuable to society than a middle class banker and guess who gets payed far more and doesn’t work nearly as hard.

Why couldn’t john keys mum work full time, why is he ignorant to the fact that the system he is attacking and is going to destroy put food on his table. Imagine if she tried to pay the rent and send one child to school which includes camps, sports, toys, Easter and Christmas. Whilst paying the power, internet&phone, new/second hand clothing, and food which is F***ing expensive. all on her own..

Man.. what a dole bludger right… or is that different…

          • Agent BallSack

Its related to hand up – not hand out. I work long days and weeks by myself to earn the money my family needs. Some people and i’m not saying all people, because I am having this very conversation with my 11 year old son at the moment – need a swift kick up the arse. The fact is that if we only had the people on a benefit that *needed* that benefit, not because its a life style choice for them, there would be plenty in the coffers to support them. The people who are letting you down are not the right wing voters, most of us earn not much more than the minimum wage, or have done in the past. The people letting down this country are the ‘lifestyle benefiters’ that have no intention on working. Why should you or I pay for their ‘right’ to never be employed and pass that ethic on to their children?

          • Keinen

Ill quote someone else on this forum who i agree with and so should you. Good on your 11 year old son for taking an interest, I hope you are giving him un-bias information.
“those that are using it as a source of income for years should definitely be held accountable” I don’t think Labour want to give any handouts, i don’t know how anyone gets the impression that this is what Labour wants. A Helen Clarkes Govenrment maybe, but are we talking about a Helen Clarke government or a Phill Goff government?

          • Agent BallSack

I’m talking about a Labour Government that has disenfranchised its support base. The labourers. When Labour thinks its more important to earn money than be given money, perhaps they will sway 50% of the vote…maybe I will be one of them.

          • Keinen

Well, I am a first time voter so I am a new supporter. Hopefully labour makes a stance against dole bludgers.

          • steve

Sadly Phil Goff was happy to say if you were on a solo mums benefit, you would have not have to work under Labour. And that they will also get working for families.FFS,I will be so happy to know where my tax dollars will be going under Labour.Seems like that not only just the lazy ones  need a kick up the arse,eh Phil.

          • Snuckin

btw the minimum wage is $13.00 per hour, which is
$104.00 for an 8-hour day or
            $520.00 for a 40-hour week.

  • Steve

Lets breed the next generation of bludgers.Hell while we are at it we may as well give them working for families as well.Or did I read that wrong.God save New Zealand,Labour wont.

    • Used to be National Supporter

      and nor will National. Amen

      • Steve

could be true, but lets give them 3 more years to prove it.Labour had there chance more then once. Also worth considering when Helen left Phil in charge, did she know something about the rebuilding process that her party was going to need, and the slim chance of winning this election.Hence her choice of person ,and the new leader of Labour that will come from it. Phil Goff outside of all the party politics,is proberly a good bloke, but leader of this country. Not so sure.

  • kayaker

I know someone who’s not on, nor ever has been, on a benefit who got one of these. Bad taste and certainly not a vote catcher. Can only come from pond dweller types.

  • Nzguy

What a delusional bunch of losers on here. What is this the Nazi Party? Your nasty little ex head of Derivatives at Merryl Lynch who packaged up toxic assets to sell to, and destroy the pension funds holding the retirements of thousands of Americans, is starting to lose his shine..Panic, panic, panic! Hahaha National will lose the election!!! yay

    • georgina

yeah they are a completely myopic group of navel - gazing narrow minded nasty little ‘people’.

      • Keinen

What an ironic statement, isn’t national the party with short term goals to eliminate New Zealands debt by selling 49% of profitable assets when in the long term New Zealand would be better off keeping them and using the revenue to pay our debts which in the grand scheme of things aren’t even that big…

        • Keinen

i think i directed that statement incorrectly upon a second reading of the above comments =S

  • Georgina

What a hateful bunch of right wing privileged ‘people’ this site supports. The ‘nasty’ thing going on is not labour’s leaflet (hard hitting but true), but National’s elitist stance on Welfare policy. Many of NZs children are living in abject povety, caught in a cycle of despair as they progress to adulthood. Betrayed by the government, who should care about their well-being. New Zealand has a huge problem with poverty, and children pay the price. Forcing their mothers out to work in a country that has a high level of unemployment is hardly an intelligent response. Let people know that National is not behind them , threatening both thier own and their children’s future. And before you all bleat on about how people bludge and enjoy being on welfare ,step out of your narrow minds to see that not everyone has the social and cultural ‘know how’ to survive in a racist and hierarchical society that NZ is increasingly becoming under national.

    • Keinen

Indeed, my apologies for the above statement i made to you.

    • Agent BallSack

Really, in 3 years NZ has become all that? Pull your head in and look around FFS
‘Forcing those poor mothers (The ones that have baby after baby out of wedlock)’ ‘Those poor children (created under Labours fuck and be free policy)’ “Threatening their future (read NO future under Labour)’ this whole post is pulled straight out of a communist manifesto surely. Get this – We cannot afford to look after idiots who have child after child and are dependent on the benefit their whole lives. The 60% have had enough of paying for it.

      • Keinen

If this was really a problem, i think nationals health minister would be starting a contraception campaign targeting these people and making it free..

        • Agent BallSack

It was suggested recently (I actually recall it was Hone Harawira, correct me if I am wrong), but so much like the state interfering in peoples lives. I wouldnt be happy with such a policy, sorry, you are taking away freedom of choice for legislated choice….I’m all for that if my partner and I get the $5,000 retrospectively for the tubal ligation she had when we had our 2nd and last child, however. BTW tubal ligations are free, we got one at the caesar birth of my daughter. ( no cake though :( )

    • Baz

So who’s fault is it that children are living in poverty? The state or the parents?

If you answer the state, then you are handing the responsibility of children from the parents to the state. That is a very dangerous thing. The state is not there to fix everyone’s problems – it simply cannot do that – and it should not. That would mean people could be as irresponsible as they like, and not see the consequences – we have far too much of that already.

People need to take responsibility for themselves. They need to think about what they are doing and whether they can afford to raise a family. The solution to poverty is the hard work of the individual, not the state.

    • Monique Watson

And how many one year old’s are out begging for a living in New Zealand Georgina? There is poverty and there is poverty.
New Zealand has a huge problem with poverty and New Zealand also has a huge problem with an entitlement attitude.

  • Steve

Notice they are using the coloured Plunket font?

An attempt to give their slurs credibility?

  • Monique

Why is it unreasonable to expect those on the DPB to go back to work when their child is of a certain age?, I had to go back to work part time to keep our home and my husband worked every possible bit of overtime and I don’t think that our time with our child is any less important than someone who doesn’t work. As for working for families being extended to beneficiaries…note the key word :”Working” for families. There are genuine people on the benefit that don’t want to be, but I think that those that are using it as a source of income for years should definitely be held accountable

    • Keinen

Definately. “those that are using it as a source of income for years should definitely be held accountable”

Honest parents shouldn’t be facing poverty because of those people. an apprenticeship would help the above see the the fruits of a hard days work, and if those adults are useless and can’t take care of their children because they are lazy the system would probably do a better job…

Or a boarding school for kids aged 1-12 and another for high school. It may seem old school but its better than poverty isn’t it?

  • monique

for the record, the comment above was from monique – steve’s wife! forgot to change my name, must be seeing too much red!

I am sick and tired of the same old smiling assassin of John Key for the past 3 years and if he is elected again your going to get the same again you sick Tory Bastards, free speech from me here is my part of democracy and if I find my comments removed as I am so far left with my ways you will see me taking mr fat whale lard himself to court and get his lazy ass to find himself a real job instead of digging dirt on anyone and everyone!

  • Me

What a load of right wing crap you all spout! You are happy for women to be victimised by Paula Bennett and have details of their incomes and private lives revealed and yet this pamphlet is wrong? Biased much?!

  • Brian Smaller

Actually, Labour had already used those women in politcial adverts or campaigns, so they were already “in the public eye”.  If you are going to stand up and say “the government is being mean to me by not giving me money” you should expect to have your details made public in the interests of disclosure.

  • Swaste

as a really hard worker i get bloody annoyed when i have to support my family and other peoples family and on the way home from work on benefit days seeing solo parents in the pub drinking red and playing poker machines on our money we give to them to help out
