No one has sold more assets than Phil Goff

Phil Goff was stupid to decide to fight the election on asset sales given his own record. Even last night he was going on about it, again:

Mr Goff stuck to message more closely – saying that the biggest mistake from his time in politics was selling state assets, something he learned from.

“John Key, you haven’t learned that.”

John Key hasn’t learned that because he has never sold a state asset unlike Phil Goff who has sold 17 assets that sold for $9,490,000,000. If anyone knows in great detail about asset sales it is Phil Goff.

Hence why he admitted to asset sales as being a mistake he has made as politician in yesterdays debate, which he has now learn’t from and National has not

National’s proposal is nothing like Labour-of-old’s asset sales. The mixed ownership model has already proved successful with Air New Zealand and a quick look at the companies office website shows that 6 of the top 10 shareholders in Air New Zealand are based in NZ and the remaining four are based in Australia. On top of that, 8 out of the 10 are institutional investors: http://www.business.govt.nz/companies/app/ui/pages/companies/104799/shareholdings?backurl=%2Fcompanies%2Fapp%2Fui%2Fpages%2Fcompanies%2Fsearch%3Fmode%3Dstandard%26type%3Dentities%26q%3Dair%2520new%2520zealand

What evidence does anyone have to suggest that this wouldn’t be the case with the mixed ownership model of other assets?

So it took him 6 years to realise his mistake?

Hardly inspiring, (although admittedly he probably slept through the last 3 years).

      More like 20 years Jester

The Nats should be pushing this info all over the place.
“No-asset-sales Goof” who has sold more assets than anyone. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

but, it just means that he has learnt from his mistakes in the time helen clark was boss.

JK/National are on the button about partial sale of assets. The mixed ownership model has been proven.  PG keeps banging on about it, but it’s not the sale of assets that’s the issue it’s how they go about the sale of assets.  Those assets are aging, heading for diminishing returns which, ultimately, mean more has to be spent on them to upgrade.  Better to partially sell them and fund new investments which will give a longer term return.

seriously biased, but it is true that phil goff did sell assets. however, it shows that john key isn’t learning from phil’s mistakes and phil goff has…
