Sooooo, destruction of property is fine as long as it’s funny?  Since humor is subjective I’m guessing whoever vandalised those national boards thought it was funny.

Calling key gay, not funny.  Calling Cosgrove gay, hilarious!  Not everyone shares your highbrow tastes WO.For the record, I don’t think either is appropriate.

I didn’t comment on the gay tag you might notice, I commented on the nazi symbolism and the racism.

And the Star of David too, which being next to Key is probably no coincidence. Disgraceful.

      • Jimmy

Oh right, bigotry is fine if it’s against gays, but not when it’s racism.  Good to know where we stand.

I thought white middle class males were the only group we were allowed to make fun of anymore.  Not much fun taking the piss out of ourselves though is it.

There is a clear difference between these 2 defacings that makes one funny and the other not. The difference is in the production quality.

“Working hard for cock” is way funnier than “gay” or “coconut” – which are not clever, just insulting. Because they tried to match the font on the billboard it makes the message look more believable, rather than simply mindless graffiti. Calling someone a Jew + Nazi + gay all at the same time is just fucking retarded.

There’s no such thing as the star of David – it’s more to do with the satanic symbolism in witch craft for casting spell’s, the same goes for the swastika a reverse version of the original in Hinduism. T’is most probably connected more to folk who dabble in the stuff and wish the National government out of power and that’s all.

“There’s no such thing as the star of David”

Then what the bloody hell is on the Israeli flag?!

There is a similar one in West Auckland in the vicinity of Gt. North Rd & Norcross Ave. Same red crosses on the faces with ‘Jew’ written under John Key, and ‘Slut’ written under Paula Bennett. I can’t quite remember, but I think the writing might be in silver too.

Oh my shock horror. Political billboards getting done over – its not like it doesnt happen every single election.

    Not news.

Which one is he, a jew or a nazi?

    • Jimmy

I believe he is the small part of that venn diagram where the two circles touch and is supposedly both.  The uber rare jazi

One of our greatest Premiers of the 19th Century was a Jew – Sir Julius Vogel.  He also pioneered work schemes and a model of the pre-welfare state in the depression era of the late 19th Century.

And of course a lot of people posted stuff on youtube about Helen Clark which compared her to Nazis – and in many cases to Josef Stalin and of course the usual Lesbian jibes and jibes at her husband accusing him of being gay.   I dont know that many election hoardings were defaced of Clark with those things – but it was in the very public eye that these things were done or promoted.

Heres a link about Sir Julius Vogel – he was in fact a fully practicing Jew …

You should see what the truly ignorant pricks graffiti inside the actual polling booths using the felt pen provided. Worked the last election to check out the experience (more of that another time!) and it was an hourly task to check the booths and black out the expletives. Some Maungakiekie residents have an exceptionally interesting turn of phrase.

Well I know Sam on a personal level and all I can say to this is ….. people that tag have no self respect, no conscience and they need to open their eyes to society. The tagging for one is irrelevant and I am guessing the use of symbols means illiterate??

    • Gazzaw

I’m with you regarding Sam, Shona. He cops a bit of flack from inside and outside the party probably because he’s quite low profile. I have been in the Maungakiekie (formerly Onehunga) electorate for 36 years and he’s the best electorate MP that I have experienced. Always has an ear for his constituents regardless of their politics & gets involved in local activities. He’s a good man.

There are some nasty people in government…

    • Mully

Oh in this case, some nasty people not in Government.

I am all in favour of defacing hoardings, paint on a moustache or sunglasses is all good , but this shit is unacceptable, from all sides. I did have a hawhaw at the cosgrove one tho!
p.s. my 14yo daughter has just told me i’m a menace and “you can’t post that! “
