Alfred Ngaro – Maiden Speech

Alfred Ngaro lead off the Address and Reply debate with his maiden speech. It is very, very good.

    An excellent speech.

He’s a good man and a mate of my electorate MP, Sam Lotu-Iiga. Like Sam he’s great for the community and it was just a shame that he did not have the party ‘history’ to stand as electorate MP for Tamaki. He’ll make a great Minister.

Just shows what hardworking inspirational parents can do for their children’s future.

No wonder he wiped the floor with Beaumont for the party vote.

He has the right stuff doesn’t he – clear, great background, sense of humour and yes, he’s not Labour – he’ll go a long way for sure.

    Alfred Ngaro is terrific!

  • Monkey

Yep, I like Alfred too.  He has a casual but inspiring style.  He’s very good at reaching out to people, knows how to walk alongside and life people and doesn’t make excuses.  A star of this intake.

    BRAVO ZULU( WELL DONE)

  • Vij

Great speech, well delivered.  He will be an excellent MP

Easy to be cycnical about politicians – it’s a reasonable default position – but every now and then one comes along who demonstrates that sometimes good people choose politics for good motives.  I hope the institution doesn’t diminish his vision and as well hope that he has a very successful and influential future in a National government.

What a refreshing change to have a genuine, and articulate speaker in the house.
I look forward to watching his progress and influence.

I was going to watch a minute or so….I watched the whole lot!!!….We would need 60% less politicians if they were all like him. He must make a lot of the others feel very inadequate. I wish this man all the very very best.

Yeap he is a genuine Kiwi and he is straight forward, a talented speaker and proud to be in parliament – not with an axe to grind but with a genuine desire to make a difference in his country. Good work Alfred..

An excellent speech from a man who is going to be one to keep an eye on. His comments on fathering especially resounded with me.

What an inspirational man. National has top quality men like Mr Ngaro, Labour has Moroney, Fenton, Curran et al…

  • Cactus Kate

Great speech and good potential.  Like many Cook Islanders he has a world view.

The very first time I heard JK  speaking on the radio, I said to any and everyone, I have just heard the next PM of NZ.
    Something similar just occurred.

    • Sweetd

Wow. This is a leader I would easily follow. Next PM very possibly.

Next National Party leader! With Crusher as deputy. An unstoppable ticket.

  • David

This guy is the man! I am very impressed.

    Love it.

I was actually on the W3 show back in 1980, and remember it well.  I got through to the semi’s and the final, and had a blast.

Excellent speech well delivered. He will talk and I will listen.
How many years in politics does it take before cynicism and smarminess begin to override the fresh ideas and enthusiasm just demonstrated here by Mr Ngaro? I have often questioned the value “career politicians” bring to parliament, perhaps there is merit in limiting the number of terms parliamentarians can sit?
Whale – thank you for posting this, I would not have seen it otherwise.
