And then before our very eyes, nek minnit, the Whale turned into a repeater.

    Shame on you.

    • Pharmachick

      eff you, pdubyah

      • Pdubyahnz

escuse me? Who made you class monitor, you have all the class of a wart, so please keep your troll like tendency to yourself, and we’ll all be happy

    • Steve (North Shore)

Beware the TROLL who shifts the subject to himself

      • Kimbo

Yep. Looks like diabolos is back in a different guise

    • Anonymous

Don`t know where you get “repeating ” from ,Whale has provided a link to a current event that many here have been following, he has in no way claimed to have written the article himself.
So maybe get over yourself and your struggle for relevance, Honey.

    • Peter Wilson

WO will often simply post a press release and wait for comment. Other times he might lead the comment; often I suspect to create a reaction. So what?

His comments very occasionally reflect a right wing bias. But that’s just my view, and again: so what.

  • Anonymous

    Got the bastard.
Hopefully this scumbag will be jailed. He will last about 5 seconds in prison.

    • Pharmachick

In response to your question pdubyah:

“escuse me? Who made you class monitor”

I did, you horrible little boy.  As did the thousands of people that abhorred this miserable crime by some sort of neanderthal on an innocent 5 year old.
What type of slime are you ‘pdubyah’ that you think you can come here and malign Whale (and me and Lofty and [likely]others in consecutive posts). Perhaps one day you will grow up and Mummy and Daddy stop paying for you, then you will stand on your own 2 feet and stop trolling.

    • Pharmachick

Whoops, SORRY thor42 … but hope you will agree (?).

      • Anonymous

        That’s ok, pharmachick – yes, I agree!

      • Pdubyahnz

        Faux outrage, the best!

    • EX Navy Greg

He’s 16. He won’t go to jail. He will be placed under supervision of the whanau with counselling courses to attend . He should be fucking shot.

    • kehua

The big pity is thor42 the cunt is only 16 and  will create a feeding frenzy for lawyers, psychiatrist and the like all at our expence, besides that in jail nowadays most of the crims are in for similar shit, they will just fuck him. The days of the hard old burglars has long gone.

    • Fisiani

      An arrest has been made.
      The accused is still innocent.
Do you not understand the legal system?
      Rush ye not to judgement.

      • EX Navy Greg

Fair call, but the police aren’t going to arrest a kid on such a serious matter unless they have it nailed down watertight.
I forgot to say earlier, Good job Police, and thank you the good people of Turangi.

  • Lofty

And then before our very eyes, nek minnit..Pdubyah, or any one of numerous nom de plumes you care to mention rears its ugly head….how surprising!
    How predictable!
    How boring!
    How interesting???? No not really.

    • Pdubyahnz

? excuse me? Whale has become a repeater not a reporter. It’s a low point, and you know it. Sorry if that upsets you fanboy

      • http://www.whaleoil.co.nz Whaleoil

Fuck off, I have never claimed to be a reporter or journalist or anything other than a blogger. You are fucking me off, not a good space to be in.

      • Paul Rain

Come on, Whale publishes original material far more often than slightly reworded Labour press releases. He couldn’t be a reporter.

      • Troy

Looks like Trevor Mallard has returned again under a different name… what a fucking coward. I dare you Pdubyah, to put your real name up here and stop hiding behind a false name.  What a goat’s cock you are.

    • Pharmachick

See above Lofty, mate …this kid just got right under my skin (!) … sorry

      • Lofty

        No drama Pharma…shit.. I am a poet and I don’t know it

  • Anonymous

    16. Disgusting. And of course will likely not be convicted due to his age. Appalling.

    • Anonymous

I REALLY hope that the judge refuses name suppression in this case.

      • Anonymous

Agree. More hopefully than expectantly though

      • Tjspooner

Wrong! Will need time to tell his family!

    • Paul Rain

The insane thing is that it makes far more sense to detain a 16 year old with a proclivity to this sort of subhuman behavior for a decent period than a 66 year old paedo with multiple previous convictions. Even if we lived in a society where this scumbag would get a sentence closer to 30 years than 3, he would still be released while still in good physical health to commit more crimes.

Maybe in addition to chemical castration, all paedos should be required to smoke at least four or five packs a day.

  • http://twitter.com/ChiefsFan73 Rhys Wilson

It’s well past time minors got automatic name supression.

    Hang em high

  • Petal

    My thoughts?

    1. Hope they’ve go the right guy.  Huge pressure on the police here.

    2. What environment produced a 16 year old monster like that?

    • Steve (North Shore)

      1. Police would have had confidence to arrest with the ‘word on the street’
      2. The environment is the ‘Once Were Warriors’ environment

      • Steve (North Shore)

I like Turangi, but the Maori from 20 years ago is not the Turangi Maori of 2011.
I remember Mr Hatrick. He spoke little English, signed in to the Club with a hat symbol. He said welfare and alcahol will ruin this town

      • http://sanafit.blogspot.com Sara Lake

Or maybe, popular media. Wanna be a gangsta.

  • Pharmachick

I don’t care if he’s 16 or 65… throw the book at him.
    Also… go on Turangi.

  • Pauleastbay

So , Ok, his name wasn’t surpressed, then what Thor?

Horrible crime, but theres now been one press release regarding the arrest, what are we all gonna do?
I know, we’ll talk of shooting and stabbing and cutting and ‘the bastard” and then what?

Leave it to the professionals would be my advice, be out raged but this stuff happens every day in every country in the world  ..and always has

  • Danning_28

Time for a little social justice me thinks….Should get a lynch mob together outside Taupo youth court for a public castration and flogging.
What a piece of trash cant wait till his lawyer (probably tax payer provided) blames his tragic upbringing.

    • Pauleastbay

Way ya go then, don’t let me or traffic stop you, be a leader

    • Frederico

Sadly he will be from a tragic upbringing, that is a given, the whole Whanau will be tragic, no role models, no strong leadership, no sense of who he is and where he fits in, all broken down by the welfare system.

  • Pdubyahnz

I bet you all hope that he’s not a comedian, because then of course he get’s off, because that’s how we roll in NZ right ?

    • Pharmachick

no honey, we all hope that he just gets justice … which will surely be meted upon him by the NZ courts.

      • Pdubyahnz

dont “Honey” me, for all your bluster does “bandwagon” mean anything. this isn’t whale class blogging it’s repeating, and you’re full of faux outrage, it’s a bit of a comedy gold moment,.

      • Ben Ross

I was thinking the “Prison Justice System” might deliver a more “suitable” sentence than our courts ever could (of course got to get the bastard in prison first)

      • http://www.whaleoil.co.nz Whaleoil

The justice that he will get in prison will be far worse.

      • Pharmachick

It is just *awful* (not) to think that this 16 year old thing will enter prison and that the entire general population will know what he did.

        I mean really.

What a terrible set of circumstances. And Pdubyah, honey; you’re not a comedian, nor are you a blogger, neither am I but at least  don’t bait the animals, nor do I disrespect the owner.

      • Lienback

Unfortunately it’s unlikely thsat he will go to prison due to his age – when will we learn to prosecute the crime regardless of the age of the perpetrator?  WO – been there, seen that, not a pretty sight but justice is seen to be done inside (sometimes)

      • grumpy

Pdubya, it’s a bit disturbing that you find this whole sordid incident such bloody good fun and a source for inane political bullshit.

I think you need a good psychologist.

    • Lofty

Goodness me you tosser..you are only here to rarck up folks…..yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you are my daughter..she has a bit of growing to do also

    • comment

I think this isn’t the place to be making a (poorly made and baseless) point about repeating. This is an extremely serious terrible teribble incident and people’s hearts are crying.

  • Mooloo

Big up’s to rhe team at Waikato Hospital and the the wider Hamilton community for showing compassion to the family that we should all be proud of. it highlighted the true spirit that exists in this great country of ours.

    • Lofty

      Quite right Mooloo

  • Kosh103

My God – 16 yrs old. What the hell is going on when you have children trying to rape other children. This is just so sad.

    • Peter Wilson

I agree Kosh. I’m beginning to come around to Michael Law’s view that such people are not criminals, they are mentally ill and need to be treated as such. The only alternative is to view such people as normal.

It’s one thing to lock them up, but what is really being done to prevent future attacks.

That’s the problem I have with the macho view of retribution and “prison justice.” All it does is feed the view that violence can solve all our problems – which, incidentally is something our 16 yo attacker has already learnt.

And, of course, denial of freedom is the most violent thing you can do  to another human being.

      • Phronesis

You lack imagination if you think denial of freedom is the most violent thing you can do to another human being. I do agree with your point about retribution. The problem with a punitive justice system is sooner or later they have served their time and you have to let the bastards out. All sentences should be preventative.

  • Rockfield

My Only question on this whole despicable episode …. where the fuck is Lorraine Smith when she is needed, smells like a shit load of legal aid to me ….

    R.

  • Tjspooner

I had 3 kids. Now in their late 30′s. We NEVER left them alone. the parents created the opportunity in this case, just like Madeline McCann.

    • Gavfaemonty

That’s utter bullshit.  You never left your children alone?  Bullshit.  The parents created the opportunity?  Bullshit as well, and a shameful comment.

    • Kosh103

Thats just rubbish, and I would also say not 100% true. Ever let them play in the backyard without you? Ever let them play at the park? Ride their bikes? No parent can evern watch or be with their children 24/7. And to try and blame the parents is sick.

      • Bafacu

First time I’ve ever agreed with you Kosh

    • Peter Wilson

Let’s be honest, it’s just the luck of the draw.

Don’t fool yourself that your kids were safer because of anything you did. Or that they didn’t end up in jail. Sure we all do our best, but we all know about kids from good families going bad, and vice versa.

When my kids were 8 and 10, I just knew they wouldn’t get into drugs or alcohol. Wrong.

You’ve just been very fortunate, and good for you.

  • Chuck Bird

Tjspooner, you are trying to tell us all that you had 3 kids and never left them on their own for 5 minutes ustil they were 14.  I find that hard to beleive.

  • Peter Wilson

Clearly it’s good news an arrest has been made, from all angles.

I have to say, however, I’ve got no time at all for the view that the “Prison Justice System” might deliver a better punishment.

It’s that sort of attitude that breeds these animals to begin with. Revenge and punishment plays into the hands of those who believe power and violence is the answer to problems.

    • Ben R001

The catch is no matter how enlightened or civilised we are, we are still from thr Animal Kingdom which has built into their survival DNA to protect their young from preditors through the most brutal and realistic way known how; power and violence. In saying that if we are so called civilised then this quote should ring true: “Rule through fear of force rather than through force itself.” meaning we step out of line then expect swift justice, dont step out of line and have nothing to fear (although I am twisting the original context). But hey I am sounding like a Neo Con nutter…

    • Pharmachick

      Agree Peter,
as I said earlier, I was hoping the NZ justice system will mete out the appropriate punishment … unfortunately the NZ law seems to be rather weak in this case … look for this sack of shit (ahem, excuse me) … look for the defendant to plead out … regardless, it is doubtful he will get more than 8-16 AND with time off for good behavior. As I alluded to on another W/O thread, suddenly the grassy knoll makes so much more sense.

  • kehua

His name will be common knowledge in Turangi, trust me.

    • Paul Rain

And probably already pretty easy to find by searching Bebo- using keywords like ‘sik’ would probably help.

  • Pharmachick

    Other pertinent questions:

Will the NZ media be present tomorrow?

If so, will they jointly oppose name suppression? (that has been most useful in the past).

Will the upstanding citizens of Turangi, Taupo and … lets face it … all of NZ, bring their cameras and cell phones to court and photograph this [alleged] scumbag so that people can assess his [alleged] crimes with full disclosure?

Will the [alleged] kiddie fiddler and child assaulter be represented by appropriate counsel [likely at the taxpayers expense]? And how do you taxpayers feel about that?

And will this [alleged] kiddie fiddler and child assaulter subsequently be okay in prison, being assigned to general population as most are. I understand they’re awfully concerned about the ;ack of underfloor heating in Mt Eden.

  • Vlad

Depressing to read the sanctimonious and spiteful comments by “Tjspooner”.  What a miserable wretch, judging by the age of kids now far too old to become a caring and thoughtful human being.

  • kiwikevnz

yea a 16yo, i’ll go get the wet bus ticket we’ll give him a damn good trashing with it at the family group conference, well done nz police 10/10, lets hope the judge will carry on the high standard with a massive amount of jail time, tho a $2 bullet would be better value for money

  • bristol

Fact: Far, far too many tourists to New Zealand are victims of violent crime; theft, rape, and murder, to name but a few. For example, it seems like only 5 minutes ago that a 14 year old Taupo youth, Jahche Te Manawa Kaha Broughton, brutally beat Scottish tourist Karen Aim to death with a baseball bat.
Bad enough for the victims, these crimes affect all of us – tourism is one of the mainstays of our economy. These criminal shits are damaging you, me, and all law-abiding New Zealanders big time. When caught, the New Zealand justice system is far too lenient on ALL criminal scum-bags. It’s high time to call a halt to soft sentencing – for all our sakes. Draconian penalties are a must; including capital punishment.

    • Pharmachick

Bristol, I thought about Karen Aim too since this came up. It makes me very sad… but it does not stop me advocating for capital punishment. In fact Miss Aim, Miss Paakonen, Mr. Hoglund (and others) make me a stronger advocate for it.

      • Peter Wilson

        Capital punishment? Ridiculous.

What about the innocent people put in jail, and then released later. David Bain, Arthur Allan Thomas, David Donaghue…the list goes on. Mistakes are made, do you really think it would be okay that an innocent person is executed?

  • Anonymous

Jesus Christ. When Whale says ‘repeaters’ it means people who repeat the ideological arguments or phrases that get handed to them or directly copying someone else’s argument. It’s not ‘repeating’ to state that someone has been arrested for a crime, you twat.

  • Enough

Another brown skinned rapist. And the father blames alcohol. What crap. He is 16 and old enough to be held accountable. I hope he gets beaten up and raped endlessly in prison. Oh – that’s right – he won’t be going to prison because he is too young and it is all the fault of the Pakeha colonistation. Give us a break. Castrate the little shit.
