Cushy millions?

Tapu Misa wasn’t at Matthew Hooton’s BBQ but it looks like several of those who were have had a quiet word in her ear because she delivers up this drivel:

As I’m sure will be heard many, many times in the coming weeks and months – especially if Shearer is truly the anointed David – he was dodging bullets to deliver aid to starving millions in the world’s most dangerous hotspots while Key was making his cushy millions from foreign exchange.

Really? I mean really?

David Shearer certainly isn’t some impoverished do-gooder who helped people out of the goodness of his heart. His mast job for UN saw him safely esconced in mansion with guards in Amman Jordan and was reportedly earning, by his own words, nice tax free US Dollars.

Certainly his property portfolio in Auckland resembles that of another property millionaire and the former leader of Labour, Helen Clark. He certainly isn’t a broken-arse on struggle street. Not to mention a couple of nice trusts there plus the not inconsequential gilt-edged UN pension scheme.

  • Troy

Oh dear, the labour loonies aren’t going to like this at all – having a rich prick as their leader is just not part of their way of thinking.  What will they do?

  • In Vino Veritas

Hmm, they get paid quite well at the top in the UN apparently.

  • Warren Garlick

Never believe anyone who does not look like her signature photo!!

  • diabolos

Exactly Cam – very point i’ve made earlier.  These UN types are raking it in and all the perks besides.  After throwing Aid crumbs at populaces whose Governments could fund their own aid if they stopped siphoning off the dollars for private swiss bank accounts – or islamic welfare for terrorists …. Mr Shearer would have retired to a quiet snifter at a plush hotel in a quiet defended compound.

The UN is a toothless fairy story (in more ways than one).

Last thing labour needs is one of the UN types making a mockery of the ideals of the labour movement.

    • MichaelC767847

No wonder Matthew Hooton threw a post -election bbq for him. Hooton could sniff the cash-flow of a future client. Or has he already been signed up?

    • Phronesis

Agreed, and in contrast there are people who are actually doing some good in these countries but they normally live with the people they work with, get paid bugger all, and pay tax on it to!

    • http://keepingstock.blogspot.com/ Inventory2

Quite so Diablos. Why else would Chris Carter agree to an asignment in Afghanistan if there weren’t some enticing benefits?

      • diabolos

He hasnt ever struck me as particularly brave.  Frankly he is also a disgrace to the Labour Movement and its historic ideals.  He was only it i suspect to “bum” a ride.

      • diabolos

Sorry let me rephrase .. i suspect he is only in it to “bum” a ride …

Tapu Misa talking shit?……..say it `aint so

    • whalewatcher

Tapu Misa – is that a forbidden dessert?

  • kevin

Maybe a tail gunner will whiz through the ranks and be ‘ labour leader’?

    • diabolos

If they dont realise that NZ is unlikely to be ready to (ever) KNOWINGLY vote for a tail-gunner as PM then perhaps they really arent living in the real world.

We seem to live in a PC world – even Unionists voting National – but underneath it all there is the innate Kiwi conservatism.  It can choose which way it votes – and sometimes defies the polls – and doesnt always vote the way it really feels and believes (as in this recent election).

I’m aware of the rumours about Helen Clark however – and have to admit it is all a little bit “sir cliff richard” – but i wont sit in judgement.  I’ll leave that to others.

I dont care who does what to whom or why – but just noting that it will be a cold day in hell is all.

  • starboard

Another chardonnay drinking socialist. They make me wana puke. I really want silent T to get the job…he willl fuck liarbor beyond 2017…such a tool…such a cherry.

    • diabolos

Mate – both Shearer and Cunliffe will fuck Labour if they get the job.  The loser will get a job in the UN.

      • Agent BallSack

How many Kiwis can conceivably work at the UN? Sooner or later some of their loony fucking policies are going to be foisted upon the unwanting NZ public. (Aside from the ones we already have)

  • niggly

I happened to read Tapu Misa’s piece earlier and indeed, what a load of drivel!

In fact it was quite an embarrasing article to read.

Some people like Tapu Misa don’t have a clue and somehow get paid to write that drivel for the NZ Herald!

    • Agent BallSack

The very reason I avoid her ‘blog posts’ with a vengeance. A position gained no doubt as part of a left leaning journalist’s view of governance – perhaps valid at a time during 3 consecutive Labour Governments, not so valid after 2 terms Blue. Is it time to shoot the nag?

      • Guest

Always thought Misa was there under some ethnicity quota and therefore immune from normal journalistic standards.

  • Mirtnan

Think some people thought he was a goody two shoes, when in fact he is too sweet to be wholesome.Just another Labour carpetbagger sent to NZ to spread Helen Clarks lies and bullshit.Heard on the news that the guy from Wellington Central will be his running mate if he gets the job. All fits in well with Clarks blueprint.Leapfrog is Robertsons speciality.Nuff said.Clark likes a foot in both camps.

    • whalewatcher

Leapfrog? can you illuminate me? I voted National…

Is that a bit ‘Darren’ ?

  • Kosh103

So your upset he has money and helped out those in need?

    Get over it WO.

    • Agent BallSack

The award for totally missing the fucking point goes to Kosh. As Usual.

      • Kosh103

The right are allowed to make money, but the left are not.

I think the thing you lot hate is the fact he helped out the needy AND made money. As opposed to Key who just made money and helped no one.

      • Troy

Seems Kosh hasn’t realised the world doesn’t spin without money, and people making money – get into the real world Kosh – life ain’t fair, who said it was anyway.  I guess you are one of those labour loonies who thinks money for aid just drops of trees somewhere – go to Commerce 101.

    • starboard

” your” should be ” you’re” dickhead. Typical liarbor supporter..brain dead , uneducated. Want me to come round and wipe ya bum ?

    • diabolos

Kosh – i think the point is this – Shearer is very typical of the aristrocrats who have taken over the left in some quarters – well heeled types breathing rarified air – and when they make pronouncements on issues of justice and humanity – it doesnt ring true.  Shearer would have been cossetted and well paid.  They didnt suffer – they werent and arent Mother Theresa or Mohandas K Ghandi – living saints who gave up all and suffered and identified with people.  The point the bods on the right are making and – unfortunately they are right – you cant make claims of moral high ground when you work for a huge income – enjoy property owning and investment opportunities – and as part of your job oversee overseas aid programmes – when in fact the gains in disbanding the UN permanent staff and redistributing the huge salaries in a targetted manner – could probably solve several nations problems all in one hit.  Now theres an asset sale i’d like to see …

“huge useless building up for sale on the New York Skyline …. politicians and useless bureaucrats not included…”

David Shearer is reaping the benefits of a capitalist system and laughing all the way to the bank.  Dont you feel slightly insulted to hear that he was “dodging bullets…” while Key was enriching himself.

I detest Key – his previous career – and his fellow National sycophants.  But it doesnt make some of their criticisms of the left wrong.

Time we faced it – manned and womanned up and got on with it.

The day i see labour politicians do this or a mix of same – is the day i go back to voting for them …

      -  Taking a salary cut
      -  Refusing a salary
      -  Refusing crown limos
      -  Refusing perks applicable to MPs
      -  Agreeing to live on the minimum wage for a nominated period of time before pledging to change the conditions that cause that wage level

Until then – they can all go fuck themselves.

Labour had the only workable plan this election.  Cunliffe and Shearer are just inappropriate windowdressing to a now empty and derelict shop no longer trading.

      • Agent BallSack

Thats twice this week. I’m scared. Not as scared as you should be! @d6576ae74ced5cc2bb082eb2c6416b17:disqus

      • Gazzaw

You come up with some good stuff at times db.

  • Rockfield

Read the article header and about 27.5 words of the actual article before I went to work this morning.  My blood started to boil at that stage, so I turned the page and made lfe bearable for the people who work with me ….

What a dreadful bloody troll she is …..  (Misa that is, not Clark)

    R.

    • Rockfield

Sorry, I should elucidate, I have far worse platitudes for the Clark Monster than ‘Troll’ …..
      R.

  • Phronesis

No wonder Kosh likes him Shearer is in many ways like a union leader. Pretends to be helping out those he is employed to help but really is just a parasite that wastes a lot of money that should properly go to those in need. Then gets all self rightous about it and tries to take over the Labour party.

  • Steve (north shore)

Shearer will redistubute the weath after he has taken his share. That is the Liarbore way.
Now when we look at net worth, how is Ms Ardern doing?

  • Anonymous

“As I’m sure will be heard many, many times in the coming weeks and
months – especially if Shearer is truly the anointed David – he was
dodging bullets to deliver aid to starving millions in the world’s most
dangerous hotspots while Key was making his cushy millions from foreign
    exchange.”

Maybe these bullets of which she speaks are the same as those that Ms Hillary Clinton misspoke about in Bagdad?

  • Alex (not the Leftist twat)

I’ve refrained from saying this — and don’t say it easily — by Misa is a nasty piece of shit.  If she isn’t engaged in anti-Key, anti-National rants, she is busy accusing every “white” New Zealander of being racist.  She’s a disgrace.

    • max_power

The poison is Alex many influential media personalities have this exact same attitude however they conceal it from the unthinking.

John Campbell, Sue Bradford, Hone, Mihi Forbes all have this racism and all conceal it.

I’ve cited those four in particular so you can see two white racists and two brown ones, two obvious and two not so obvious.

If I didn’t know TV3 wasn’t doing it on purpose a’la their election week anti-poverty doco which was the equivalent of running the red ensign up – pirate attack – no quarter given – I’d call them scum but since they clearly don’t care if anyone knows, I just say, game on.

  • kevin

nek minit Parker is looking ok….

    • Anonymous

      Yeah…. or the Duck….. ;)

  • kevin

A caretaker role seems very possible.

  • Gazzaw

If they were looking for a caretaker then they should have kept Goff. I can see this all turning very nasty this week.Fingers crossed for some good entertainment.  Cunners could have a brain explosion at one of the political party bunfights.

  • Peter Wilson

I’d turn Shearer’s quote about himself around:

“I made my millions saving lives while Key just made millions.”

That’s the point, at least Key is honest about it. He’s worked hard, he’s rich, and he intends to enjoy it, whereas Shearer and his ilk pretend to understand the poor, while they themselves are rich.

  • Anonymouse Coward

Aid work attracts misfits, mercenaries, or missionaries.

    Which is Sharer?

    • Jester

I really do need to ask the question. Who the fuck put the United Nations on such a high pedestal and deemed anyone working for them as life savers and the friend of the poor and needy. The fucking UN has about as much value as chocolate fireguard in the aid supply chain.

“went overseas and saved 50 million lives” not with the fucking UN he didn’t. More like went overseas and shuffled papers and then took the plaudits for the true aid providers.

  • Anonymous

Maybe Twinky Winky is available to lead the Labour Party with Po as co-leader?

  • Zoltan

Should make it illegal to join the opposition and this sideshow wouldn’t be taking up valuable inches in the papers.
