Good idea

The Auckland Council wants to lock up the Occupy Protestors who won’t leave Aotea Square:

The Auckland Council wants to jail Occupy Auckland protesters for 21 days.

Last week, a judge ordered members of the Occupy Auckland movement to leave Aotea Square, where many had been living for 10 weeks.

Most moved onto other parks but a few have stayed in the square.

Today the Auckland Council is asking the District Court to imprison the remaining protestors for breaching last week’s order.

The anti-capitalist protesters have vowed to fight the application.

Occupy Auckland member Chris Glen says the threat hasn’t fazed some of the protesters, who vowed last night to remain in the square.

He says they’re simply standing up for their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

Council lawyer Ross Burns told Newstalk ZB a 21-day jail stint would be severe, so he said the anti-capitalist protesters could be given until New Year’s Eve to pack up and leave.

I don’t know why the Council just doesn’t get some big sprinklers and soak them for days on end.

Won’t leave? Ok, stay there properly. Barricade them in and no-one to leave (unless in an ambulance).

I wish they’d stop talking about “what they want to do” and ***JUST DO IT.*** They’ve been pissing around for ages.
    Get rid of these scum.

  • Angry Croc

    Go get them.

  • Muzza3

Can’t get them to jail , fine build a large fence and restrict access to and from hte site , blame Health and Safety, food only to be taken in that has been scrutinized ,drug dog ( private one ) at gate.No alcohol, they manage a liquor ban at the Mount, if they leave for any reason , stop them returning

I just wish the extreme righters would get upset and march on them. Wonder how long they’d last then.

We spend way too much on our overcrowded prison system already to send these harmless folk to jail. Prison should be reserved for violent offenders.

    • excuse me

Prison is exactly the right place for people who defy orders of the Courts. Bleeding hearts who tolerate this kind of insubordination seem quite prepared to accept a complete breakdown of the rule of law. I’m not.

These people arent harmless, they are scum. Prison is the right place for them.

Another stupid judge who will not support Auckland Council’s bid to get rid of vermin.
Where is our Lord Mayor – Lord Len – useless b……

  • Richard Kern

Nature got sick of waiting for the Council and decided to turn on its sprinklers instead

The council has utterly fucked up its handling of these protestors from the get-go. They should have acted a long time back. Instead – Lazy Len and the left gave succor to the protestors by turning a blind eye for so long.

Now, the council look completely useless having been denied by the judge to arrest protestors, due to insufficient ID’ing.

Len should be held accountable for this stupidity.

My thought was a helicopter with a monsoon bucket twice a night, should test their resolve in Aotea square or Victoria Park.  My other thought for Victoria Park incliuded the BIG cricket pitch roller and some tents in the way  ……..  Oh well….

Everybody have a wunnerful new year.

What I would like to know is who employs this lot? Do they have jobs outside of protesting? They must have some pretty tolerant employers who let them off work for 10 weeks. Or would I be wrong in assuming that a portion of them will be employed by us courtesy of our tax dollars? Stop their tax payer wages, that’ll soon send them packing to the nearest WINZ office, empty Aotea Square – job done!

  • Paulus

They are probably already on some sort of WINZ entitlement, and of course WINZ don’t  know who they are, or what they are doing.

  • mps

time for them to Occupy a Prison

  • Kelvirsux

The epitome of them is their useless douchebag spokesman who is about 21 years old, wears a 70′s suit and is crying out for a haircut.  He talks in slogans and has no idea what sense he is making – hang-on – what’s his name?  He is likely to be Labour leader in 10 years!  Save this country now – throw him in the alligator pit.
