Shearer credentials

So David Shearer has supposedly won a mandate for big change with a few more than 18 votes.

What changes are planned?

Asked to name only two achievements during his time in Parliament – he could only name one – and it never happened.

And of course, this was rhetoric promoted by the same tired old guard that helped get him elected.

Sadly he couldn’t name the new guard and this is not a good start. The person he forgot is now out of parliament altogether.

Hopefully he’ll remember who is in his Caucus the next time he’s asked.

This will be the first of many jobs for John Pagani.. who’ll be taking over the media contract from Brian Edwards in quick time.

Hmmmmm – I suppose – at least David Shearer is wearing a tie which he says he doesn’t like to wear. Who are all the other companies he is talking about?

Look, I wouldn’t lose any sleep over Shearer. He does seriously lack communication skills, and those things are hard to coach, without them seeming contrived.

He seems a nice guy, but he appeals as a deputy, doing the background work. He’s already overplaying his UN hand, sooner or later it will backfire.

I don’t recall Key ever bragging about his history, just about some of the skills it gave him for politics. All the stories have come from others. The best one I recall is when, after work, all his macho mates were heading to lap dancing bars, he would head home to Bronagh.

Shearer saved 50 million lives? That is some boast!

AT least it didnt involve $43 mill of taxpayers money
Prime Minister John Key has done an about-face after denying he had a discussion with MediaWorks bosses before the Government decided to give the company a $43.3 million helping handhttp://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10718054Then on Q+A  English denied it was a loan, when Espiner had the document with his signature on it.So forgettful…… when spending taxpayers money on crony capitalism

Tart, that is fucking April…. a lifetime ago…fuck off with the old links of no relevance.

  • Peter Wilson

And did I hear him right in a brief interview? Only one person knew the numbers in the voting, “and she wasn’t talking.” I think he was referring to the party secretary.

Is he saying that only ONE person did the counting of votes, with no other scrutiny at all ! Surely that’s wouldn’t be right for any organisation.

But heres Bill being forgetful…or not

GUYON Another bailout in the news this week and for some weeks – MediaWorks. Why did you loan MediaWorks $43 million?BILL Well, I think as it’s been explained there, that’s not a loan.GUYON But it is a loan, because you signed a document saying it was a loan under the Public Finance Act. Otherwise it would have been unlawful. Do you remember that?

BILL I do remember being— I do remember the Cabinet discussion about it, of course.GUYON So it is a loan

I seem to recall that it was an interest bearing loan. So, not a grant or free lunch.

The broadcasting spectrum they were paying for had a 10 year lifespan from memory? And they paid for it over 5 years Ithink it was. To me there is a significant difference between someone paying for something before they use it (and paying interest) and an actual loan where you hand over cash and get it repaid later.

      • Mediatart

Everybody else had cash up front for a 30 year license

Tart you are fucking me off.

Why the memory lapse ? It was a special deal that no one else got when the taxpayers were borrowing $200 mill a week.

Ouch!  Guyon Espiner seemed to know in advance that he couldn’t name the environment spokesperson.  No wonder the UN is a shambles.
