Whaleoil Awards – Worst List MP nominations

We all know that generally List MPs are scum. Some are more so than others.

Here is your chance to vent about the invisibile, the useless, the hopeless, the inept and the scum list MPs.

Ashraf Choudhary would have to rate as one of the worst List MPs, not only was he useless he was also invisible. Rajen Prasad would also qualify for this and labour rated him at number 20 above capable MPs like Stuart Nash and Kelvin Davis. While Prasad warms a seat in parliament the other two are looking for jobs.

Then of course you have the nasties: Darien Fenton, Steve Chadwick, Carol Beaumont and of course Sue Moroney. All distinctly unelectable and unlikeable.

Katrina Shanks would be up there for her completely inept speech on the “Skynet Bill”, speaking about that which she knows now’t.

The entire Green party would qualify except perhaps for Kevin Hague and Russel Norman.

        I sleep very well at night Luigi.  In fact, I would say my past criticisms of the party were not only fair, but have been vindicated.   As for my work with ACT, while I was a pretty lousy Office Bitch, and I wish I had done a better job in my time working for Muriel Newman, I’m proud of my campaign work for ACT in 2002 and 2008.

    David Clendon (Greens) – better cure for insomnia than a sedative!
    Gareth Hughes (Greens) – has quickly become a serial trougher, who boasts about his trips up and down the land via social media
    Katrina Shanks (National) – WO said it all
    Carmel Sepuloni (Labour) – nasty, vindictive and petulant
    Darien Fenton (Labour) – had the biggest losing majority in 2008, but still got in via the list; adds nothing to the House
    Sue Moroney (Labour) – as per Carmel Sepuloni
    Sir Roger Douglas – promised so much, but delivered so little

      I don’t know what you were expecting from Roger Douglas. But VSM, youth wages, and the spending cap are causes he championed in the last term and we will get all of them soon enough. That’s pretty damn good for a minor party list MP.

    Fenton, Fenton, Fenton. If for no other reason that unless Shearer changes the seating then every time the Parliamentary TV cameras focus on Shearer then we get Fenton as well. Don’t know that I can face three years of that.

      I don’t think Ardern is in line for most useless. Most overrated, yes, but more middling when measured on merit.

        Well she’s not completely devoid of all talent. She can speak, isn’t invisible and doesn’t generally say dumb shit in public (that ‘Comrades’ speech excluded). OK, she couldn’t take Auckland Central back, but I think she has some potential. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like her, and no way does she deserve to be number 4 on the Front Bench, but she’s not as useless or poisonous as the other nominees here.

    I’d have to go for Darien Fenton.   I drive past her Labour Party office on Glenfield road on a regluar basis, and note with no small degree of pleasure that there was a rubbish skip outside it the other day, and all the Labour Party signage has been consigned to it.  Probably can’t afford the rent any more!

    Worth remembering that the first MP to represent me, John Terris, also has an electoral office.   It was a caravan, and he used to park it in a regular cycle around the Western Hutt Electorate.   Very accessible man, and a true representative.   That was the last time I voted Labour.

    Fenton definitely – she has brought ridicule to the Labour Party ( as if it needed more), Parliament and MMP. Incidentally Charlie Shovel has taken down his signage from his Ohariu Office as well – maybe he’s finally realised he’s not wanted in the area !!!

    this could be the only contest fenton wins, with a VRWC all voting for her!. A bit premature but Andrew Little has already demonstrated his abilities as a list MP by not moving into his contested electorate and making it plain he wouldnt even bother standing there next time.

    Metiria Turei – an always smug Green MP elevated to a leadership role by virtue of her sex, rather than ability. Almost invisible during the election. Lazy and ineffectual.

    Ardern – did sweet fuck all for three years, couldn’t even win a traditional labour seat but yet gets a promotion.
