Breastfeeding vs. Bottle Feeding

Over it.

My kids were breast fed, because they could be, and given their extreme allergies at that time of their life it was lucky they could be. Some mothers just can’t or won’t, so what. That doesn’t mean one is more right than the other.

But from my extremely selfish man’s view breast-feeding was a whole lot of awesome.

I didn’t have to get up at night to feed the little monsters, not equipped you see. I never had to sterilise bottles, or worry about the right temperature, again the milk was already pre-packaged in an appealing, correctly heated package….again not equipped.

And the single number one reason why I think breast-feeding was good for ME…the kids shit doesn’t stink…seriously…it just doesn’t on breast fed babies.

But seriously some people just need to get a life.

    Breast or bottle is not an either or argument. Its all about what’s best for both the parents and the baby. And that picture saws that’s one very loved baby protected by a very well respected Kiwi.

    Some of my most treasured and connecting moments with my daughter was bottle feeding her pre pumped milk. Its no wonder kids are so emotionally connected to their mothers when they are swaddled there, gazing up at them.

       Thorn and Agent Ballsack – totally agree!! Very well put both of you – similar experience with expressed milk myself and I can’t remember a happier time with my two littlies than sit watching them feed looking up at me – very special. (Both now in their late 20′s BTW)

      As an aside…from the first day I fed my daughter NO fucker was going to hurt her while she was under my care. I would kill or die for her…as opposed to killing her as is the prevailing norm in society. All men should feed their babies, it awakens the ‘Brood’ gene :)

    The cost of tinned food is high. Must cost a lot to feed if not able to breastfeed. Bottle best for mums of drug users and HIV mums.

    You have to go with the flow on this subject.
    Some woman can breast feed and some can’t
    Number one son was bottle fed as the milk flow stopped.  Number two son was breast fed.
    no appreciable difference between the two.

    my two daughters were breastfed,mum used to use her breasts as water pistols if i got too smart would you believe. daughters in turn one able to breast feed the other not. no appreciable difference between grandchildren. had an in law who was into the la leche league when it first started, they were like missionaries,and i see they still are.

    I think this whole thing is a disgrace. Weepu should be held up as a postive roel model for Maori fathers, not attacked by these nutbags. And as has been mentioned, not all mothers can breast feed and it is not a bad thing.

    As long as the baby is loved and cared for these idiots can fuck off. Given out child abuse stats they should be leaving caring and loving parents well alone and focusing their energy at the child abusers

    Kosh – We agree !!!!!!! fully, you and me.   I had the luxury of being house Dad for one year from when our boy was three months old.  The breast feeding was all but finished by three months controlled by nature and I was Boss of the Bottle.

    Damn Plunket breast feeding Nazi tried telling me off one day – I read her horoscope to her, kicked her out and never saw her again.  She started off on day one as really neat, but as soon as she found a bottle in the house she went all strange.

    My Mother was unable to breastfeed myself and my brothers due to the extreme violence she suffered at the hands of my father and we had never even been in hospital and had no serious health ailments and I was only able to breastfeed my son for seven weeks and got severe mastitis so decision was made for me basically. My son is now 2 years, 3 months and hasn’t even had an infection. As Kosh103 said, we need to stop picking on the parents that are doing a great job and start looking at those who shouldn’t be parents. Maybe then our shameful stats would change. I suppose if the useless ones breastfed, that would get the big thumbs up by the mad as batshit La La Land Leche cloth eared bints!
