↬ The Firearm Blog
The NZ Army emailed my mates at The Firearm Blog…lucky I read their stuff otherwise I might have missed this…a video of their new 40mm H&K Grenade Machine Guns (H&K GMG).
WO has ordered one and we will now see shredded deer etc on the site
Lets hope he is a better shot.
The army seems to have the same idea as the AOS, just fire blindly in the general direction.
This is the sort of ability we expect of child soldiers in Africa.
Under Le Nationale the armys new toys are publicised but in the meantime cutbacks are hiiden away. Most of the Navy Seasprites are waiting for maintenance,
The military bands,a saving of $0.8m, that was a bigger debacle than McCullys showdown with Foreign Affairs mandarins. The diplomats seem to have had a few grenade launchers of their own targetted on McCullys arse.
When are they going to scrap the Armys artillery, a suject dear to L’epaulard, but hardly necessary for modern warfare and a small army like we have. 120mm mortars can do the trick.
No one is a good shot without lots of practice. So when you have a small budget, firing 25mm machine gun, grenade launchers and rockets, is something that is not done anywhere near enough…
Ah M’sieur Arsehole
You dontg know your military history. The NZ Artillery is held in high regard worldwide. How was tghe Battle of Long Tan won??? NZ artillery and a damn good NZ artillery spotter, Major Morrie Stanley MC.
In the Korean War who called in the artillery at the Battle of Kapyong?????
The NZ Artillery are trained using old fashioned methods, no computers and GPS systems.
With the Vingmate fire control system (Laser range finder/designator, ballistic computer, day-night sights, airburst programmer) I’d say they have a better than average chance of hitting the target.
Looks like I chose to apply for the Army Reserve at just the right time!
Those things will only be useful if the target convieniently stays still.
It doesn’t look that mobile so counter battery fire from a mortar or even an RPG would nail it quick smart.
agree, have to be vechile mounted and then you may as well have a 50cal.
the m32 mgl looks like a better fit, for a 40mm grenade launcher.
120mm motars for indirect fire and a helicopter gunship for air support.
Put ‘em on the LAVs, lend ‘em to the cops, bye bye MUNZlers!
Well it isn’t likely to frighten the fuck out of the millions of the oriental hordes when they overrun our couple of thousand chaps in say 30 seconds. But by God it makes a patriotic chaps heart sing when he see’s it can be mounted on a Labour Arsehole Vehicle.
Made me remember, with horror, who was running the show when we bought those piles of crap, not that, that particular person would know shit about getting mounted of course.
And please tell us when to expect the “oriental hordes” to come charging?Â
Ah so Little Travis.
Sometime after they have bought us all up, always of course, after showing due consideration for our loss of face!
Ah so Little Travis.”
Ah so little what, make some sense will you? and please jump off the paranoia bandwagon, you’re just talking nonsense.Â
Should be able to fire remotely from inside the vehicle.
Bit sad really! Nothing seems to have changed much since I did my time in the 70’s and early 80’s 50 Cal ( vehicle mounted) still an impressive weapon and 40 mm Grenade launcher, so what?
This is the sh*t we need.
Fucking socialist guns from union-infested Sweden!
And, frankly too big to deal with Gangs or Unions or Labour – the major threats to NZ.
Not impressed. Looks about as effective as the old Energa grenades we used to fire from modified .303 rifles. See Wikipedia if you have never seen one.
