The Huddle from Last Night

I was on Larry Williams’ Huddle on NewtalkZB last night.

With me was the lovely Josie Pagani.

Our topics were the silly Trevor Mallard getting served by an old lady.

And the same sex adoption laws being mooted.

  • Troy

It seems to me, listening to what Josie Pagani was saying, that the law regarding defamation shouldn’t be upheld if a case is to be heard – she has forgotten of course that MP’s regardless of them being MP’s are still citizens who have rights – Pagani’s¬†argument was flawed and by default then is not cogent.¬† Well, in any case, if she wants to go into bat for the Duck and the Chicken – go for it because if she seriously thinks there behaviour thru all this has been ok, she’s on another planet (Planet Labour of course).

    • Johnbronkhorst

This stupid cow doesn’t get it!….”the court of public OPINION”…doesn’t deal with FACTS, only OPINION…Therefore it is only as good as you can spin it and only as good and unbiased as the reporter reporting it. Look at how long they chased Banks for (a week and a half)….and how long they ran the Jones story for (2 days), good luck getting a balanced view and argueing in the “court of public opinion”. Now we may actually get (out of the court) something approaching the TRUTH. Something mallard and little won’t recognise!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OK7Y7PCSTJ27RCKZ2MGRSAYCTE NEIL

I know you meant what you wrote John – just love the oxymoron “only as good and unbiased as the reporter reporting it” LOL… Sorry I’m still seeing stuff about Jones – so it’s a bit longer than two days….

      • Johnbronkhorst

Where are you seeing it Neil, that stuff on jones?….TV1 news…NO…TV3 news…NO, Front pages of ANY major dailly news paper???…..NO….Stuff….NO, Yahooxtra……NO….On the radio (heard not seen)……NO….so WHERE precisely are you seeing it???????

Adoption: I am not over 60. The child should be given the choice if they want gay or heterosexual parents. The child’s interests must come first, not the interests and needs of the adoptive parents. What is best for the¬†child is not just loving parents but the ideal family¬†is that¬†the child¬†who is being adopted should have¬†a mother and a father. Next best is the child’s extended family looking after the child. The National Party has changed a lot in the last few years which will mean interesting times for the next General Election.

There can’t be too many children up for adoption these. So many unwanted children are aborted before they get the chance to be adopted.

I hope that wisdom will prevail.

    • Kosh103

Tell me –¬† how does a, say, ¬†6 month old give permission?

The important thing, as John Key said, was if the child will be loved – not agendas like peoples dislike of someones sexuality. Also the same people who disapprove will have nothing to do with raising that child, so IMO those peopel who “tut tut” disaprove, do a Helen Lovejoy act “Ohhh wont someone think of the children” can just bugger off and shove their heads up their arses where they belong.

Taking just NZ as an example – there are next to no cases of child abuse by homosexual parents. Those children are wanted, loved, well cared for and do VERY VERY well. So to all the Helen Lovejoys out there – piss off.

      • LesleyNZ

Yes how do they Kosh? Watch your language!

      • AnonWgtn

Not in class Kosh – did none of you pupils turn up today ?

      • Groans

Hopefully children won’t end up around you pottymouth

      • Kosh103

No Lesley I dont think I will. If I want to tell some unfeeling prat to piss off I shall.

    • Alloytoo

Should kids also be given a choice as to whether their parents are going to divorce, or whether Dad is a great rugger player or and alcoholic or mum is a milf or a frump.

Seems to me that by the time you’re the fourth child you should know mum’s a bit of a slapper….

There’s more than a few kids who would benefit from being removed from their biological parents and deposited with a couple that actually cares (irrespective of sexual orientation).

    • Agent BallSack

I can see your logic but the reality is no other child in NZ chooses whether their parents are for instance Richard Kahui or Raymond Ratima. Or a 16yo runaway addict. Or a bisexual. Or Philip Ure.  What is the difference?

      • Kosh103

        Homophobic attitudes is the difference.

      • Pukakidon

         See Kosh,
Isn’t John Key a much better Prime Minister than your stupid self interested Helun the I deny being gay liar.¬† She did not have the guts to allow Homosexuals to adopt.¬† The more enlightened party has come to your rescue.¬†

      • Kosh103

No Puka he isnt. National is far from enlightened. He will let it go past if it comes up, well to the first reading anyway. But he wont actually do anything to fix the problem.

And while I support his statement about who cares about a parents sexulaity – I remember him not being opposed to CUs but voting against them anyway. Using the excuse (with zero proof) its what his electrate wanted. I personally have my doubts he would vote for this at the final reading.

  • JeffW2

I don’t know how you can remain calm when confronting that Josie Pagani. Clearly she is the type that the left can do anything but the centre-left (National) can do nothing.¬†

  • Russell Belding

In the interview Josie Pagani she tried to dilute the topic of Trev’s behaviour by raising similar cases and saying “Judith Collins, do likewise. Forget the incident. Harden up. Its only political banter. Take your case to the media and stop sulking.” As Trev has been a serial insulter for transient politilcal points this is a test case to prove Trev has defamed Judith under the legal definitin of defamation. As Judith is seeking only a declaration thet Trev has defamed her Trec has nothing to lose but his reputation. It not clear if there is any of this left to lose. He need lose no money. He is spinning his way into court. The latest twist is sprinkling naughty flakes on the person serving him papers. Josie described her as “Nat party hack”. Trev said she told lies, and she did (if she said she was other than who she was).

Will Trev call off the games now by apologising? Does he have the courage to say, “Well Judith I apologise to you for …?” What would Trev gain by saying “I am sorry I made a mistake.”? What will Trev tack to his legacy if he continues to fight Judith?

To answer these we need to grasp the logic of Trev’s motivations and pragmatics.

    • AnonWgtn

Trev and chicken have to “prove” their case, ie evidence –
Collins has only to turn up and watch.
She is not on trial, only the two twerps.

      • Kosh103

Actually she is on trial. If Trev and Little walk she is going to look very very foolish.

      • Pukakidon

No Kosh seeing the childish behaviour has already made the duck and little look very foolish already.  It shows how pathetic they are.   Why did they not just face up like men?

      • Kosh103

I will actually agree that they were foolish to do what they did and their leader should have made them front up on the steps of Parl along with a “bring it on” message.

However now that its all done, it is Colins rep on the line. If they get off (and I am rather sure they will) Colins will look like a total fool who tried and failed to use the courts to bully opposition MPs into not looking into her management of her duties.

  • Agent BallSack

Pagani doesnt (or perhaps she does) realise that Mallard is adept at the so called ‘court of public opinion’. Which is to say media will print the slander before any right of rebuttal. Mallard knows that the nastier you are the more the fifth estate will slather after every morsel that drops from your swine like lips.

  • Russell Belding

WO’s pragmatics lead him to advise us to lump the open marriage topic with adoption laws with whatever other problem comes up in sorting out the current controversy and agree to an omnibus bill. Bunch it up and deal with it. His suggestion sounds like Josie Pagani’s dilution tactic. But in a few minutes one cannot say or explain much.

Than adoption laws need updating is true I reckon. That our skill in making good marriages is in deep trouble is also true I reckon. That there is confusion over who we are and how we “ought” to be is true I reckon. We can find sensationalism easily. Anything pushing our sensitive buttons will do. Violence, sex, abuse, notions of injustice are readily available for use. Constructive actions leading to beauty, growth or¬†harmony are harder to sell for gain. Such as in a newspaper of blog site.

WO’s “bunch it up” approach might work. Depends on public sentiment at the time, as do many things.

  • Hetro’ and ashamed

Why do gay people always get blamed for being gay? Me, I blame straight people, they’re the ones who keep having gay babies. Who’s with me? To the quad we’re streaking…..

    • Agent BallSack

      Gay Propaganda. Yawn.

      • Kosh103

        Yawn – homophobic agenda.

      • Johnbronkhorst

Kosh….no she won’t and mallard and little aready look foolish!!!! and childish!!!

    • Phronesis

same reason alcoholics get blamed for being alcoholics

    • Pukakidon

Kosh logging on with other names I see, when is Mitch turning up

      • Kosh103

Telling lies again I see Puka. How normal of you.

      • TravisPoulson

Using the same comments I see Kosh. How repetitive of you.

      • Kosh103

Well Travis simple minded fools need simple repetitve comments in order for it to sink in.

      • TravisPoulson

kosh:….or you just lack creativity, imagination and 75% of an adults word vocabulary. AT least you’re mixing with your own intellectual age group on a daily basis.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

      • Pukakidon

Thanks Kosh I am very happy being normal

      • Kosh103

Travis – odds are I am far smarter than you, hold more bits of paper than you and will end up contributing more to the world than you.

So to borrow your rather pathetic little words – stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Oh and Puka – you are not normal.

      • Pukakidon

Kosh you are employed by the Government, you get told what to teach by the Government and you will eventually retire by leaching off the Government.

Your creativity is nothing because you are told what to do, you regurgitate other peoples ideas, and you do not generate any wealth.   The only creativity you have in you is deciding what colour whiteboard markers to use.

      • TravisPoulson

Travis – odds are I am far smarter than you, hold more bits of paper than you and will end up contributing more to the world than you.”

I’m not sure which of those 3 statements I should laugh hardest at.¬†

I laugh every time someone pulls out the ‘I’ve got more bits of paper than you’ argument. I’ve met many a person (you might see one in the mirror) that has all the “bits of paper” and is completely useless.

For someone “far smarter” than me I’d expect a more intelligent rebuttal than the jibberish you just spewed.¬†

      • Boss Hogg

Puka and Travis – forget trivial little arguments with little Kosh, try reading something more positive.¬† I can not recall seeing anything like this written about Clark……….Kosh, I am sure you will enlighten us otherwise which should be amusing.

        http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/danielhannan/100161195/my-new-anglosphere-hero-is-new-zealands-john-key/

      • TravisPoulson

That made for some interesting reading Boss Hogg, funnily enough his description of JK is in complete contrast to the description given to him by some left wing nutters that will remain nameless.

      • Kosh103

LMAO – a puff piece written by a right winger. Yeaaa, forgive me if I dont take it seriously. Forgive me if I just laugh.

      • Pukakidon

         Boss
Interesting the “Mike Smith” the failed banking idiot,¬† that was on here spouting his bullshit is all over the telegraph site bad mouthing John Key again.¬†¬† He was the so called “Well traveled. In New Zealand short term. Puzzled by its love affair with neolibeerals”, fool.

Another died in the wool labourite pompous twat.   I like the article though.

  • Kosh103

Travis –¬† fools like youself always laugh when they know they have been faced with the truth about themselves.

I await with amused thoughts for your predictable response.

    • TravisPoulson

Travis –¬† fools like youself always laugh¬†”
“LMAO – a puff piece written by a right winger. Yeaaa, forgive me if I dont take it seriously. Forgive me if I just laugh.”Jerry Seinfeld couldn’t have written a better line.¬†

      • Kosh103

Not one surprise in that reply at all.

    • Pukakidon

       Kosh

What are all these over inflated paper items you have that make you so smart.   Your not referring to the self ingratiating sycophantic certificates teachers give out to each other for attending day long workshops are you?

Enlighten me what you hold Mr smarty pants primary school teacher?

      • Phronesis

Do primary school teachers even go to University? I thought it was a college / polytech level qualification.
