The Shield of Sanctimony, Ctd

ŠĒ• Herald on Sunday

Once again the Greens are shielded by sanctimony.

Like most people, this green executive assistant works through her lunch break. But this is the Greens?

Why isn’t someone in the Greens making sure she has plenty of time to take her entitlement?

Surely they give all their staffers their full hour, eight weeks paid annual leave, time off for extra gym sessions etc etc?

After all, it’s important for work life balance?

Or is it just mean nasty right wing employers these things apply to, but the Greens themselves have a greater  and more worthy cause and are free to flog their staff with too much work?

While Holly Walker is concerned with lifting the lid on lobbyists it appears she is a poor boos.

Like many of her friends and colleagues, Gabie George spends most of her day at her desk and regularly works through her lunchbreak.

The 25-year-old executive assistant to Green MP Holly Walker is conscious of the health risks associated with office work, having bought a Swiss ball to improve her posture while sitting at her desk. But she was unaware that sitting at her desk for long periods increased the risk of deep-vein thrombosis, which she associated with flying.

“It just seems pretty unfair that instead of flying somewhere fabulous and getting deep-vein thrombosis, you just sit at your desk doing your job all your life and get deep-vein thrombosis,” she said. “I can’t really change my job to stop it.”

Ms George said she worked at her desk for eight hours a day and ate lunch there about four days a week.

She tries to go for five-minute strolls, but admits she sometimes works for extended periods in front of her computer.

Is she trying to make a play for Darren Hughes?

No she isnt an 18 year old boy at Annette Kings House

  • A Parliamentary EA

You do realise that Parliamentary Executive Assistants have their pay and conditions set by Parliamentary Service (their employer), and not by whichever party they happen to work in, right?

  • Cactus Kate

Yes EA – but Holly is the one working her to death. ¬†She should be knifer to her EA and a better “employer”.

True, the toxic greens are great at criticism of others and poor at looking within.¬† I hope to Christ (if there is one) that the Labour/Green’s don’t govern in the future – the country¬†will be well and truly¬†fucked with¬†these loopie weeds.

Doesn’t she belong to a union? I would have thought this is exactly the sort of thing (working conditions) which the union would be hot on?

The PSA needs to look into this. Good to know though that swiss balls are still allowed into the government buildings. You would  have to smuggle it in though, churnalists would have a field day otherwise.

Do we want a party that enslaves its employees like this in power?   I like a leisurely lunch away from wine.  I work better this way.  So would she.  And its fun to walk down to a nice coffee bar and read and laugh at old copies of the Horrid.

the risk of deep-vein thrombosis, which she associated with flying.”

She clearly never reads a newspaper – this story has been repeated several times over the last couple of years.¬† You’d have to have lived under a rock to have missed it.¬† Not a good look for the politically involved.
