    When you look at the shit fight going on in the world about ACTA you gotta wonder how much longer this will work.  Monopolies around the world are lobbying the governments to protect current spurious copyrights and patents to the exclusion of innovation from “outsiders” and “newcomers”

      True indeed. 
      What *I* find bizarre is that in Germany, it is illegal to even release your software to the “public domain”! 
      Utterly bonkers! 
      There is (of course) an easy way around that. A German could gift his software to someone outside Germany, and *they* could then release it as public domain. That shows how bloody stupid the law is there.
