Shearer’s Changing Goalposts

David Shearer has continued to play disgusting politics with the deaths of our brave service personnel in Afghanistan.

Yesterday, he wanted a withdrawal of our PRT by early/mid next year.

John Key has announced April, which IS early/mid next year.

Today, Shearer has changed the goalposts. He’s now suggesting an even earlier withdrawal, and ironically he has been reduced to playing semantics by demanding precise dates.  (A great strategic move – not)

Check it out.

It’s hard not to see this as shameful politicking over deaths.

It looks a lot like Shearer is being poorly advised to disagree with everything the Government does for the sake of a headline.

Good luck with that.

    Shearer the legendary advisor to the UN.Wonder what he was doing when on his watch ,one million Riwandans were being slaughtered.There was no chance of any withdrawal there.The UN soldiers never turned up.Shame Shearer , for once in your life ,try and get your facts and dates correct.Perhaps you could be given the title.”The man who never was”.

      I suppose we could say,Shearer flushed with success ,in getting the SAS returned to NZ pronto.The result five dead soldiers,as they lost their SAS protection.Now Shearer will of course take full responsibility for the Lie-bour Party decision to get back the SAS.Maybe he feels that Goff has handed him a poisoned chalice full of guilt.Notice Goff with his vitriol yesterday on the soldiers deaths has handed the guilt back to Shearer.They are using the deaths of five NZ soldiers to score cheap political points,over the elected Government.

    The only reason it would matter that Shearer changes the goal posts would be if he was going to get the ball, and everyone knows, including his own front bench, that there is no chance of that!
