Oh look another dodgy Colin Craig Poll

Colin Craig has gone back to using his dodgy polling company again…you know the one that said he’d win Epsom…then the one that said he would win Rodney in a landlside, Check out my previous posts on Research First and their seriously dodgy polling methodology.

Craig today defended using the quote, saying it was a reflection of what some voters thought.

”It is certainly the comment that got me thinking where John Key was on this issue and where the electorate was. People express themselves in different ways. I’ve heard lots of people express themselves on this debate in ways that I wouldn’t.”

Helensville was more conservative than other electorates, Craig conceded.

For the first time, Key was not voting in accordance with his electorate on a conscience issue, he said. ”That’s a change in the game.”

Key had voted against civil unions and has said changed his vote to vote against prostitution reform after feedback from his electorate.

The Conservatives hired Research First to poll Helensville voters on the issue of gay marriage and gay adoption.

About 89 per cent said their MP should consult their electorate over conscience votes and vote the way voters wanted them to, it found.

We know all about Colin Craig dodgy polling. Let’s see the questions…I bet they are as loaded as the previous ones.

Colin Craig says dumb things, does dumb things, and is showing that politically he is a muppet.

  • http://voakl.net/ Ben Ross

Was waiting for this posting having just read a few moments ago the said article in Stuff.co.nz

What a bloody tool he is – doing a total disservice to those of the Christian Faith out there

  • Redbaiter

“Let’s see the questions…I bet they are as loaded as the previous ones.”

Funny. You’ve never asked that question re other polls you’ve approved of.

Let’s face it. The outcome of any poll can be adjusted by tailoring the questions to suit the desired objective, and I’ve hardly ever seen a poll on an issue the Progressives are pursuing that has had anything but subjective questions.

If we are going to criticise poll results on the basis of the questions asked, let’s be consistent.

    • Alex

Redbaiter to assembled audience “Now wave your little black book, and repeat after me: Colin can do no wrong; Colin is always right.”.

      • Redbaiter

Alex, you are a Progressive and a queer.

Given that, do you really think you’re one to be sneering at the objectivity of other commenters?

        • Alex

What wicked views I must have; surely I’m damned to the fiery pits of hell.

I’m a lot more, as are most whom you attack.

But your Manichean worldview prevents you from ever seeing or appreciating this. Still, time will march on and so will human society, and you and your fellow travellers will be left far far behind wailing about some previous golden age.

          • Redbaiter

            You wish.

In fact you Progressives have seriously misread the wind on this event.

This is no light matter that will drift away in time.

That’s the point you have never appreciated.

            Marriage is different.

          • Mitch82

So you’re still trying to play the victim sticking up for Craig and free speech? Lets look at the greatest hits:

1: His opposition to gay marraige is rooted in the religious aspect.
2: He refuses to argue the religious aspect of the issue.
3: He calls for intelligent debate.
4: He claims that it’s not intelligent to think that gay marriage is normal.
5: He sends out a pamphlet calling John Key gay.

Even if I were opposed to gay marriage, I would be ridiculing this guy. I’ll give an intelligent opponent all respect in the world, but when it comes to this guy, he’s the intellectual equivalent of a monkey feeling great about himself for flinging poo through the bars. If he thought it’d get him votes, he’d run naked down K Road screaming ‘I’m A Little Teapot’.

          • 2ndAmendment

He’s an opposition politician currently getting more coverage than Shearer & Norman combined. Sure he’s making hay while the sun shines – but look at the other Conservative policies:
            – fully armed police with the laws to let them use those arms
            – castle doctrine of self-defense
            – personal and parental responsibility laws
            – termination of welfare system
            – termination of state schools
and tell me they’re not vastly better than anything else on offer in NZ

          • Euan.Rt

correction required – CC is a wannabe opposition politician. He is no more a politician than Duncan Garner. (sorry Duncan)

          • 2ndAmendment

2.5% party votes at an election after starting to campaign just six weeks from polling is rather better than ACT, Mana & Maoricombined

          • Gayguy

Well given how much he spent how is that surprising?

But now that people know him more, know what he stands for, well he will wish for the days of 2.5%.

          • justin

Cam would like the second policy here.

          • Krim Dotcom

Colin Craig is not a politician

he’s a rich Jesus lover with a superiority complex

          • 2ndAmendment

            Adoption is even more different

          • Euan.Rt

            “Marriage is different”
How right you are with this statement Red…
Some people marry for love, Some people marry to procreate, some people marry because they believe it is the only legitimate way they can have sex, some people marry for companionship; and I am sure there are many other reasons people marry. So marriage itself cannot be ‘one thing to all people’ as many here have suggested it should. Marriage is progressive just as the rest of our society is. We don’t eat the same recipies our grandmother made all the time, but we do still eat. Marriage too has moved on and now is about to include men with men and women with women. If you don’t like the offering – don’t eat it, and eat something else. Stop thinking you have the right to tell everyone else that they have to eat the same as you!
And Colin Craig is a bigot.

        • http://www.whaleoil.co.nz Whaleoil

Stop abusing my reader or fuck off.

          • Redbaiter

Please example the “abuse” and I will apologise for it.

I think you are singling me out because I try to be fair to Colin Craig.

          • Alex

That’s the problem, you’re not being “fair” to CC. If you were being fair, you’d be telling him to pull up his socks, drop the ego and get proper political advice. As I’ve said many times to CC’s aggrieved supporters on this blog, WO is doing you a favour in pointing out CC’s follies. If you lot can rein him in, then perhaps CC will have a chance. If not, then wait until the Left start taking him seriously, then CC will feel the heat.

Again, if we have misread the wind on the same sex marriage thing, why is CC campaigning in the south Auckland seats where this issue may well have pertinence? And where it would damage Labour?

          • Alex

            I meant “is not campaigning”

          • Travis Poulson

It’s alright to abuse, as long as you’re on his side of the argument. I don’t think WO has seen the programme ‘Queer Nation” before. Queer programme made by queers, for queers. They even say “cheers queers” at the end of it. Highly abusive.

          • Redbaiter

“It’s alright to abuse, as long as you’re on his side of the argument.”

Well I didn’t abuse anyone but it’s pretty clear that if you are for homosexual marriage you can abuse the hell out of anyone who is against it.

            Gayboy for example.

Nobody expects moderators to be perfect but it would be nice to have a modicum of consistency.

The fact is that the political scenario is slowly evolving into a Conservatives versus Progressives scenario.

Soon, we will all have to pick one of those sides.

          • justin

Gayboy does the liberals no favours – he seldom engages issues, just goes for the individual.

          • Gayguy

Interesting coming from the likes of you. I have yet to see one comment about Colin’s position, or nonsense. Just attacking me. But then I am not surprised. People such as yourself do not like to have the flaws in their heroes pointed out.

          • justin

As above. Going for the individual. I’ve made plenty of posts this week – none of which you engage.

          • Gayguy

Interesting that you used to watch that. Are you one of those self hating queers?

          • farmboy

why do you think there are so many self hating queers gaychap

          • Gayguy

How cute trying to twist what I said into an attack on gays. Do try harder.

          • Travis Poulson

How cute trying to twist what I said into an attack on gays. Do try harder.”

If I had a dime for every time I saw kosh say something like that. Is that you, Paul?

          • Gayguy

You know, I have seen you time and again use this persons name all over the show. They must have made quite an impression on you for you to be so obsessed.

          • justin

            Case in point.

          • RightOfGenghis

Looks to me like contributors are fairly divided on this issue, although the inevitable abuse tends to sidetrack the debate. For me Colin Craig comes across as a novice polly with a lot to learn about politics. However I do believe he understands his core values and these will resonate with a lot of voters next time round

          • justin

Novice as he is taking on JK the most popular polly in his home electorate. I assume that this is a ‘any publicity is good publicity’ thought.
It would be good for Colin to develop 2nd and 3rd in the Conservative line up – so he doesn’t look like a one man band.

          • justin

Keep it up Redbaiter. You are right Colin is being ripped up by MSM and the right (national aligned) bloggers.

          • Redbaiter

Thanks Justin. I fully intend to.

            Appreciate your own comments too.

          • Travis Poulson

Agreed, you just need to look at how the comments are marked up to know there’s plenty of support, alot of it by people that refrain from commenting. The changes to Disqus are quite good, its nice to have a gauge how many agree/disagree.

          • Krim Dotcom

            gay!

          • Greg

            another poof lover.

          • Gayguy

Oh look, its Greg. Another worthless hate filled bigot shit scared because the world is changing for the better and his kind will soon be looked upon in the same way as slave supporters are.

          • justin

Another case of Gayguy attacking the man.

          • Gayguy

Do you ever get tired of being wrong Justin? Calling a spade a spade is hardly attacking the man.

If the man cannot deal with being correctly identified as what he is then the man should consider keeping quiet.

          • justin

You need to lift your game Gayguy. You are online you’re engaging but not presenting your points – just attacking “worthless hate filled bigot…”. You present yourself no better than those rebuffing you in derogatory terms.
I think that you’ve got some strong points to push on your side of the debate, but you need to present these coherently. Every argument against you that is derogatory is a point for you.
Look up and down these posts tonight – you’ll find more attacks from liberals than conservatives.

          • Gayguy

The truth is the right is filled with haters and bigots. I am not saying the left does not have its share, but the truth is the truth, and if those people do not like having their colours exposed then they should not comment. And I will not refrain from calling a hater a hater or a bigot a bigot.

          • justin

Greg you need to engage the brain. These liberal arguments are not hard to take apart with a few sentences.
Thats one of the great things about WOBH – you’ll find a good banter without cheap shots.

  • toby_toby

I used to live in the Helensville electorate. I voted for Key as my MP last election and if I was still there I would happily do so again of Craig, who is too nutty and too intellectually dishonest to earn my vote.

    • 2ndAmendment

Because Key is not “nutty” and “intellectually dishonest” ?

Borrowing a billion a week and hoping, smiling, and waving that something things will get “better”?

If that’s not nutty or intellectually dishonest I don’t know what is!

      • toby_toby

Nowhere near the level Colin Craig is. Key doesn’t go round suggesting a binding referendum on every subject.

        • justin

No he will simply dismiss the referendum results when they come in. 87% against banning smacking.
toby are you seriously saying that you want politicians that don’t want the public to have their say?

      • Alex

And what is CC’s solution to this lamentable situation? Oh that’s right, CC’s too busy raving about homosexuals. Seriously, we would love a credible conservative political party, but CC and his crew just ain’t it.

        • justin

From the nation programme on tv3…Rachel Smalley”If there is a referendum and overwhelmingly it supports the rightfor Gay marriage to become law, what would you do then?”If there is a referendum and overwhelmingly it supports the right
for Gay marriage to become law, what would you do then?Craig “I as a representative would accept that and move forward withthat, because that’s what I believe. I believe we should berepresentative, and I’m confident that a referendum is the rightway to go, and if it came out with that decision then I wouldmove absolutely forward with it.”That’s the sort of politician I want in parliament. One who will respect the voice of the people. Not pollies who think they know what’s best for us. “I as a representative would accept that and move forward with
that, because that’s what I believe. I believe we should be
representative, and I’m confident that a referendum is the right

  • Apolonia

Good on Colin Craig for standing up for those the left wing politicians have ignored.

    • Gayguy

Those sorts of people should be ignored.

      • Greg

        Yeah just like you poofguy.

        • Gayguy

Wrong as usual Greg. It is you who should be ignored, and you are being ignored. By all level headed, sensible kiwis.

  • Gayguy

So 89% want to be consulted, fair enough.

Funny Colin mentions that number but doesn’t hint if he asked about marriage equality. And if he did, he seems to have forgotten to tell us the results.

  • 2ndAmendment

better a muppet that a traitor.

  • John

Are you lefties starting to get scared?

    • Gayguy

Not at all. Colin provides no end of amusement and is a great tool to use to demonstrate how bat shit crazy and out of touch he and his supporters are.

      • justin

        Another cheap shot from Gayguy.
Cheapshots in thread 10 : Actual sensible debate 0

        • Gayguy

No Justin, just another fact from me. Colin is nuts. The polls he uses to justify calling kiwis a bunch of sluts, saying Key is too gay, calming he knows the country is against marriage equality even though there is not one poll in the country that supports this.

On and on and on. It is amusing to watch this nut job spout his nonsense as his tinfoil hat squeezes his head tighter and tighter.

    • http://voakl.net/ Ben Ross

Nah not in the slightest. As Gayguy said this nutter is providing no end of amusement.

      Then again:
Colin Craig – a disservice to the Christian Faith every time he opens his trap
A citizen quietly reading their Bible on the train or even praying or even engaging a fellow citizen in a meaningful dialogue on the Bible (notice I said DIAlogue) – doing the Christian Faith a better service

  • Mitch82

Amazing what you can get away with by quoting anonymous citizens. I was talking to a couple of shop owners this morning about this “John Key is too gay for this electorate” comment. The first lady said “Colin Craig looks like a sifty pedophile priest with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome”. The second said “he gave an amazing performance as the sloth in the Ice Age movies”.

But, I mean, I’m just quoting what someone said to me. Y’know?

  • tarkwin

Regardless of Colin Craigs idea of a poll, I think M.P’s should consult their electorate before making a conscience vote. He who pays the piper calls the tune, and we definitely pay hard. I suppose this begs the question – who do the Greens ask? And, do we really want to know? Should list M.P’s be able to vote at all in a conscience vote? After all, they obviously have no conscience and probably no morals either – too busy towing the party line to make sure they keep their position on the list. That’s Monday’s rave out of the way, I’m going for a lie down.

  • Greg

Go Colin, lets put these poofs in their place.

    • Gayguy

Your days are numbered hater. You and your kind are doomed.

      • Travis Poulson

Sounds like you’ve been watching too many tacky vampire movies.

“Your days are numbered hater. You and your kind are doomed.”

There’s one for the movie script.

        • Gayguy

Oh Travis, crawl back into your cave hater.

          • Travis Poulson

Oh Travis, blah blah blah. Regurgitated rhetoric.

          • Gayguys

Yes it is well known that you just spout the same lies and bullshit about homosexuality every time you post on the subject.

But even haters and bigots like you are allowed a voice.

          • Gazzaw

I was beginning to wonder if Kosh was back but the spelling is a tad too good.

          • Travis Poulson

Perhaps he gets a real teacher to proof read his posts first :)

          • Gayguy

Yes we know all you do is spew the same lies and hate travis. No need to tell us so.

          • justin

12:0 Gayguy – come back tomorrow and have a decent attempt to engage.
For the record Travis is right your ‘doomed’ quote was a bit over the top.

          • Gayguy

How sweet Travis, you have some pals to come help you. Shame that this will not stop equality coming to NZ.

Man you must be spewing at the thought of us homos being equal to you in every single way. Well from a legal point of view. We are already better than you from a moral point of view.

          • Travis Poulson

            13:0

          • Gayguy

            How cute.

          • justin

Gayguy – you are equal to me. You are equal to me in everyway. Take that spiritually or take it democratically – I think both a valid (and positive).
Isn’t it strange that the moral high ground is the position you go. I see the religious sitting on their hill saying “we’re on the high ground” and the liberals sitting on their hill saying “no we’re on the high ground”. But all of our hills are in NZ, a democracy where laws should reflect the wishes of the people. This is my point. Morals or not – let the people have a referendum and as I’ve said before I’ll listen/respect the result.

          • Gayguy

We do not live in a country governed by referendum. We live in a representative democracy. We elect people to make the laws for us.Every 3 years we get to either replace them or not depending on what they say they will do for us.

Also referendums are costly. Poll after poll after poll clearly show NZ is wanting this. So the only reason to have a referendum would be to stall it.

This is the way our laws are made, if people do not like it, they are free to leave for a country more suited to their taste.

          • Travis Poulson

That’s the funny part Justin, he’s attacking me on this thread, and I’ve yet to make a single comment about gay marriage. He’s frothing like a rabid chihuahua and biting my ankles over nothing!!

Bloody hilarious. All I need to do is make an appearance, and away goes the barking and snapping at my heels. Talk about bitterly butthurt.

Any comment made by me directed at him translates in his brain as an attack on homosexuality. Anyone in support of homosexual marriage is probably looking at his comments and thinking “oh for fucks sake, just shut your mouth, you’re not helping us at all”.

          • Gayguy

We all know your stand on marriage equality. You are against it.

          • Travis Poulson

That’s exactly right. Made my point on it a long time ago, pointless to repeat. Unlike yourself, repeating over and over. Now please excuse me, I have to go to bed now. I’ll leave you here squirming in a pickle thinking up your next stupid comment.

Night night, don’t let the bed bugs bite!

          • Gayguy

Actually it is worth repeating my view. And I will keep doing so. It keeps it in the face of those who would deny us equal rights. And burns them all the more when we get those rights they hate us having.

Oh and only a fool considers the truth stupid. I am not surprised at your comment.

          • Travis Poulson

            Which comment doesn’t surprise you?

          • Travis Poulson

Scratch that, I don’t care. Your comment came up with someone elses name first up, I’d hate to give you the false impression I gave a shit :)

          • Travis Poulson

This is hilarious, I bet you were patting yourself on the back for publicly exposing me as being against homosexual marriage, when I have quite clearly and publicly stated that I am on several occasions.

          • Gayguy

For some one who does not give a shit, you sure are spending a lot of time justifying yourself.

And as for “exposing you”, how does one expose a fool who shows himself as a fool all the time like you do? I did not expose you at all. You did it yourself.

      • justin

        11:0

    • justin

Greg these are dumb statements. You put off alot of conservatives from supporting Colin with this crap.

  • Travis Poulson

”I suspect there’s an awful lot of support for what I’m doing in the electorate,” he told Radio Live.”

See, they you go, Key has no clue. He “suspects”. Didn’t even talk to his own constituents. Muppet.

Next he’ll “suspect” that we all support him giving a koha to the maori for using water.

Even when he isn’t ‘suspecting’ what we think, he fuckin’ ignores us anyway when we do tell him what we want. Isn’t that right, S. Bradford.

  • Karlos

Just out of interest Whale, is it possible to check each electorate and see which way each member of parliament is voting on this? Surely there are going to be multiple members of electorates voting different ways, if so, there must be a number of dodgy polls flowing around out there!

72%
