I hope he’s happy with all the empty belts, awards and titles when he retires. He may be talented, but he’ll never have anything close to the status that guys like McCaw and Lockyer have.
farmboy
or tua and cameron for that matter
Mitch82
Yup. Take Cameron and Green, how they handled all the stuff leading up to their fight. They’re doing what they can FOR their sport. SBW is taking all he CAN from his.
tarkwin
I just want to see him in the ring with a real boxer.
Ford
he never will..hell relinquish it if it comes to a credible boxer…a bit like joseph parker the other week and his big fat useless out of opponent..does nothing for their reputation
Ford
^out of shape opponent
Travis Poulson
So do I, at least that way there would be at least one real boxer in the ring.

Amazing comments – Sonny Bill has a commodity (himself) that has been prooved to be highly marketable – why on earth should he not exploit that while he can? What actual harm is he doing?
Mitch82
You can argue that he’s free to make a dollar as efficiently as he can, he surely is. But it cheapens the sport, in my opinion. It sucks to see players whoring, for want of a better word, themselves out to whoever pays the highest.
The All Blacks are great because we’ve got great players here, great coaching, not because we’ve got enough cash to go and pinch all the best players from other countries.
Ford
the world is all about money..i think he should show a little loyalty but when you boil it down he needs to do whats best for himself
Mitch82
If Union and League become sports where the side with the best accountant wins, it’ll be a very sad state of affairs.
Ford
contracts have known to be won in court houses

Except all the samoan, tongan and fiji players who earn more here than at home ….oh and the fact they are told they will not be picked as an All Black if they don’t play here ….unless your name is daniel carter that is

Go Sonny Bill. Do what everyone else does which is to look after yourself first. When asked about his return to league during the press conference he expressed great disappointment at leaving rugby union and said he had made a prior committment which he had to fulfill. A man of his word, a man of honour. He was also very successful for a “whore” in that he won a Super 15 Championship, the ATM Cup and the World Cup. He made some great choices and developed into an outstanding rugby player.
Mitch82
You do remember that the guy signed on for 5 years with the team that brought him into the NRL, then pissed off over to play for a French team without any prior warning 18 months into the contract?
He was lucky Toulon bailed him out and the Bulldogs let him off lightly. He’s extremely lucky another NRL side will give him a second look.
Travis Poulson
Even if only for one season before he pisses off somewhere else, yet again. According to the news he’s regretting going back to NRL before the season has even started, and that he wants to go back to union.
Mitch82
Where’d you read that Trav? I know he only signed for a year with the Roosters, I have to wonder if that was his choice or the club’s.
Travis Poulson
Shit, think I heard Murray Deaker say it? I stand to be corrected, I watch/listen to too many sports shows. It contained an audio snippet of SBW, sounded pretty obvious that he was only doing it because he gave his word, not because he had an interest. He made it clearly obvious he wanted to play union still. Personally I have no time for him, and as a boxing fan I want to see him fight a real boxer in their prime, not nobodies like Tillman that have had more defeats than wins, or veterans like Francois that are well past their prime. I mean, Botha has been a contender for the heavyweight title 4 times for goodness sake. Having said that I hope Botha beats 7 shades of shit out of him in Feb next year.
Mitch82
There’s plenty of people he could fight – Green, Cameron, he and Mundine had a blue so that could be interesting. Tua’s coming out of retirement again apparently.
Perhaps he could fight all of them.
At once.
Travis Poulson
Heh, I think a real boxer would ruin his no loss record. I’d even be keen to see Joseph Parker up against him, he sparred with Money Bill before the Tillman fight. Looking forward to the Mountain Warrior’s fight later this month, and the Fight For Life in December. Willie Mason vs Troy Flavell, I’m excited already……

What – like the Pacific Islands that Rugby puts so much support and funding into – (Tui Banner here please)

looking after number one…like most other people and his critics.
